Despite public health warnings, I have noticed a disregard for social distancing in recent weeks and days I live in a small North Island town and have witnessed many many cases of the plain disregard for social distancing This includes the careless supervision of very young children in our local public park with playground facilities Children are allowed by adults to play at abandon without distancing in careless numbers Also, tourists have mobbed the local convenience store with a total disregard for distancing and store policy There seems to be NO deterrent to this practice and it gets worse with each day I fear the most for the young children who are the most likely to be a-symptomatic With a new school year approaching, they may very well become infected BEFORE they attend classes in the fall That gives the well being of our community a much smaller chance to avoid a very bad 2nd outbreak What is wrong with people ? I have stayed home and go out only when neededI have decided to always wear an N95 mask outside my home I do not trust two churches I have been going to as they don t really follow guidelines the health authority and don t even accept the science and are relying on superstition to keep themselves safe so they are a high risk as they meet in homes and other Christian circles again would not be an issue but they don t believe in the science so don t follow the guidelines I will no longer risk my health and any other person I am not blaming them for their beliefs and will try to be compassionate towards them and share the medical info My duty is to share the truth to follow the directions of our medical and government leaders on this issue Please do not invite me to your fellowship until you follow guidelines set by said authority Comment from : Allen Jones |
