That turtle could have easily gotten run over by a car causing no damage to the vehicle or the turtle the shell would've protected it the law is clear maintain your lane regardless of any animal in the way unless its a person or large animal never slam on your brakes because you would be held liable for all the damages

Well technically it was the gray car that thought it could all of a sudden weave that caused the crash, also I'm pretty sure turtles can cause crashes when hit or run over at high speeds, so I'd say it was a worthy reason to stop
