It’s even better in the book, because the perspective shifts between the shark and the boy, building tension, but the shark is described as a fish to lull the reader into a false sense of securitybrbrStill, while they are both a well-made novel/film, I still don’t really like the way it demonises sharks, who aren’t that dangerous to humansbrbrOf course, wild animals are always inherently dangerous, but as long as sharks are treated with reasonable caution, they’ll probably leave you alone, and if you try to fight back, potentially with keys or a snorkel, it might decide you’re not worth it and it wants easier preybrbrBut still, sharks kill less people a year than falling vending machines/coconuts

Knowing what I know about sharks and being eye witness to two shark attacks a shark at this enormous size I don't see that shark struggling to swallow that small kid wholebrThat would probably take place with a smaller, great white shark Maybe 4 foot 8 foot, but anything over that would devour that kid whole It's still a cool movie Let you know how powerful sharks can be and how dangerous they can be And we are their food source as soon as we enter into the water

All the respect in the world to the creators having the maturity and, for lack of a better term, “the balls” to kill a kid in this scene, let alone showing the aftermath with the mother Such the right decision That’s how you create a real, primal, emotional response — real stakes; real storytelling; living, breathing characters And to do it so skillfully and with such grace… that’s power Otherwise, the whole scene can fall apart really quickly and go into “edgy”, manipulative territory brbrSpielberg and company really were at the top of their game while making this movie When making a great scene, let alone a movie, is so incredibly hard to do — with the amount of people working together and so many moving pieces — it’s a miracle of filmmaking when something is this good What a home run of a scene

Later in the movie, the kids mom’s speech is really good and shows her anger and grieving Even though multiple people were killed, she probably git the worst of the sharks rein of terror

Y'know, the actress who played Alex Kintner's mom in Jaws went to this restaurant owned by Alex Kintner in Martha's Vineyard, and was shocked to see Jeffrey Voorhees! Voorhees told her that he owned the restaurant This is when they saw again because they haven't seen each other since '74

Dogs shouldn't go swimming in the water because a shark can swallow a dog in one gulp if it's close enough to the beach Good that the shark didn't try eating the woman in the bikini who was screaming which was the result of her man picking her up from underneath her and putting her on his shoulders

I swim everyday in the ocean here in SoCal, even through the winter Today I heard the dolphins, and I saw one of their big gray dorsal fins cruise by Even though I knew it was a dolphin, it still stopped me dead Almost 50 years on, this movie lives in me Btw, in 55 years of ocean swimming, I've never seen a shark
