Nice Tips Dan ! One thing I want to add is: A woollen blanket that packs right in your jacket or bag pocket I have used it since I was a kid and it does wonders You can use it as a layer or as an insulation beneath you

As a retired mailman who has endured 23 Michigan winters, I've done both: Worked out of a chill (dressing for activity in the cold) and worked into a sweat (dressed for standing still in the cold) I personally prefer to work into a sweat It's more painful to work out of a chill, and I'm more susceptible to illness trying to work out of a chill

I know, older video, old knowledge but needs repeating: don't wear cotton At home, around climate control? Sure But wet cotton ways a lot and absorbs body heat 24 times faster than air

Good info here! Companies SHOULD legally have to disclose their comfort and risk rating Think about it, its a shelter just like a house and in most cases tents are exposed to harsh environments, not just the backyard could mean life or death by morning

Dan said this but it needs to be stressed: avoid sitting by the campfire in unprotected clothing that you’ll regret getting burned (especially expensive puffer jackets, thin hiking pants, etc) as one tiny ember can ruin that piece of clothing (and it’s a huge bummer on a trip, especially if it’s brand spanking new)
