That's it That's exactly how it's done, sometimes I also use a plumb bob off a few yards to check my vertical cross hair Eye balling it will not cut it at any real range Karl dropping Knowledge bombs 💣 Comment from : Erik Mckay Gunsmithing |
Karl, why slide the scope forward in the picitinny slots when recoil come backwards into your shoulder? Why wouldn’t I want the scope mount slid back towards u instead? Comment from : Shammy313 |
The only thing you need a level for is to level the rifle to install a cant!!brUsing a machinists rule under the scope to Square it with the rifle is all that needs to be done brThey even sell wedges to do the exact same thing Most any scopes don't have level turret caps because they are attached by a threaded piece brAnd if you don't have the level completely square 90° to the bore you're pissing in the wind anyway 🤯 Comment from : James Glenn |
So when adjusting for scope shadow (front to back) set the scope on Max magnification? When u bring it down to 1x that will give u the best visibility? Did I get that right? Comment from : Shammy313 |

Oh Comment from : Dragunov |

Great video Karl I had 14 questions and you answered 13 of them in 1 video 14th Question? Can I zero in 2 different scopes for 1 rifle and interchange them as needed and still keep and hold zero? Thanks Karl Keep on keeping on! Comment from : Prepper101 |

I Remember this! Float Levels, but they never made the 1, that I sent too! You Karl? Back in the Day though🤔? lol😅 Comment from : gavan simkin |
If possible you should level off of the bottom of the scope, since everything is leveled to the bottom Some scopes have slightly canted turrets, when you turn them quarter turns it will show a different level position I know at least one nf atacr that had that Comment from : tiputipu777 |

I just found this video, and realize this comment is late, but I would suggest that when you set eye relief and length of pull, you should wear whatever gear you will be wearing when you will be shooting Bulky gear/heavy coats will make a big difference vs only a shirt Comment from : Adrian Firewalker |
Very informative Thx! Comment from : FletchMan |

Do not trust spirit levels ! Use a vertical self aligning laser Mount gun in vise, place laser behind and slightly above you, roughly in line with the gun Shine laser center on buttstock/pad screws and elevation turret Make sure the centers line up Now check if you can see the laser at a distance of about 5-15 yds, if not move laser left or right to center along axis of the gun When you can see the laser line in your scope you can rotate the scope to make sure your vertical post is parallel Tighten Now you are ready for the range to verify Comment from : toll |

Can you recommend a torque wrench? I've got one for ft-lbs for my car wheels, but that's probably a little powerful if I'm just putting a scope on Comment from : Warren Peace |
do you realy need the loctite? Some ppl also glue the scope to the rings both looks a bit overdone to me if its not a 50 Comment from : J oker |

Nice You and IV8888 have similar advice about mounting Seems like, depending on your needs, it would be good to combine both approaches Comment from : Chase Harris |
Another very useful video Thank you I'm wondering why I can't use the P-rail to set the level on? Is it not going to be flat with the rest of the rifle or somthing? I'm sure it's a simpler answer but it's just going over my head Comment from : Mechanized Ape |
