I am quitting one second job for a different second job To be quite honest I wasn’t even looking to replace my second job with something different but the opportunity came my way and this opportunity pays more So I’m a little nervous about it but at the same time excited

This is good advice but only works if a) you have some level of white privilege working for you and b) your bosses have any good in them I was their top employee (woman of color) and was denied a promotion and an internal reference and I now see my bosses were both demons who didn’t want anyone better than them to land a higher role than them So if they weren’t even going to give me the reference while on the job, WTH makes me think they’d give me a reference after resigning? If your boss is a demon don’t even worry about these niceties, it doesn’t matter Just save yourself and leave Especially if you’re a BIPOC or other minority person We don’t have the luxury or energy to play these nice games, some of us are lucky to just be able to cut the cords and leave with our minds intact

I no longer give 2 weeks, I’m always calm, cool, collected at work, I came in on a Monday and told my boss Friday is my last day but I’m willing to leave now, I have yet to ever see people that have stormed out and quit harm them 🤷‍♂️

I really feel bad, i dont have another job or a bad boss (my job is a central function and i hace a lit of stakeholders, they are good people but everybody is expecting thinga from me), is just that my position requieres an unrealistic amount of work and responsibilities that do not match the working hours i have or my pay, i am tired of not accomplishing my goals because i have too many activities, it has destroyed my selfsteem completely, i just dont feel enough

My biggest advice to people is to bALWAYS/b leave on good terms I always try to accommodate my boss, give them as much heads up as possible, close the projects, etcbrYou never know how what you do on your last days is going to help or harm you in the futurebrI have landed at least two well paying jobs based on information that followed me from one of people who have observed how I closed things when I was leaving I have some of my past bosses pinging me from time to time asking in hopes I change my mind You might not need it today but it is always nice to know you have somebody to call and get a job on a moments noticebrAnd you might not be thinking about it when you start the career, but as you age and advance the world gets smaller, the circle of people you meet gets smaller and more connected and you don't want your career ruined based on some stupid thing you did when you left that one job that you didn't really like and you have completely forgot about

I left a very toxic situation a few years ago I was professional as I could be however the owner of the business was very unprofessional Knew how he would react to me leaving so I already had all my personal gear packed ready I gave my 2 weeks notice in a professional way and was told I should leave immediately as punishment for leaving The work place was so toxic I said my goodbyes to my work colleagues as I walked out They all knew the situation and why I should have received 2 weeks salary in lieu but I was so pleased to be out I couldn't be bothered asking for it I started my new job the next day

The situation for me is I have to leave because of the toxic situation, I cannot handle all the stress So the tricky part is to tell my manager the reason why I am leaving Because if I tell them that I did not find a job yet, they might ask me to extend my notice from two weeks to one month to help them more etc

Couple coworkers learned the hard way, do not quit or put in your 2 weeks unless you are 100, absolutely sure you are hired at the other place They put in their 2 weeks, said they would accept counter offers, current company stayed silent and when the other job fell through at the last minute, they ended up jobless because their replacements had already been trained and were ready to go If I quit I'm not telling anyone, and also not giving a two week notice Turn in my equipment, wait for my last paycheck, and never speak to that company again
