As a tech support agent at one of these brands, I've actually had the pleasure of viewing these videos in my training as bad examples xD brbrBeing tech support is pretty challenging at first though, maybe janice talked to agents having their first few calls and not being completely secure in their knowledge of our tools and policies yet The first 3 months of phone tech support, even as someone who IS tech savvy and does build her own systems, were BRUTAL Because you're using 5 different tools that are barely responsive, 3 different data bases, 2 of which are basically down, you're trying to find out who ask for help but there's loads of internal red tape - and on top of that you have a customer on the line you don't want to disappoint, who you needs to explain stuff to WHILE staying 2 steps ahead of them brbrAnd those are things you can only get comfortable with through experience It's not really an excuse, training should be better Companies should invest more in longer and better training But if you have someone on the phone who is stuttering their way through a script - please be kind It might be their first call and they're not being malicious or lazy, just very nervous I once put someone on hold for 10 minutes because i was so overwhelmed I couldn't remember who to run the LCD self test on a laptop brbrAlso, sadly, our workloads are massive We have to take a certain number of calls every day, and if we don't solve something immediately we have to keep it It builds up FAST That's why we all love transferring calls Many of us went into tech support because we love helping people out But we just don't have the time That's a systemic issue with capitalism brbrThe only guy I found absolutely unacceptable was the guy who refused to troubleshoot and was condescending on top of that I've opened a pc with two older office ladies over the phone It was fine You just need to be confident and give a shit That guy was an ass and there's no excuse Comment from : Erylaria |
