YOU CAN OVERCLOCK THEM AND LOWER THE CPU TEMPS

I am using it with a 970ti, and honestly still rocks! I play Cyberpunk 2077 without too many noticeable issues, and have been very happy with it I am currently piecing some parts to a new system, but when that's built, I will give this to my little brother, as he will likely still get a few years more use out of it playing Minecraft and Roblox

I have this in my home pc Time to upgrade i guess Did not realize it's been 10 years alreadybrThat said, i can run most older games fine on this, and i can even run flight simulator 40th Anniversary Edition okay ishbrI guess many games depend more on your gpu

Using the FX8350 but only in a home built NAS server running TrueNAS core

im still running the 8350 with a 1660 super runs okay on lower intensity games but when playing warzone 2, bf2042, or assetto corsa on a full server, the cpu reaches 79c in temp and games become unplayable original thermal paste from 2014, would it make much difference if i reapply paste?
Comment from : binners

I got me an 8300 with a pre build back in 2015 I let go of it when the Ryzen came out Never looked back I just upgraded my rig with an 5600X3D The 5600X3D would do cartwheels around the 8350!

I'm currently rebuilding my old setup with the fx 8350 on a asus crosshair v formula board with a rx 580 8g and I am hopeful! It was running 2 rx 480 8g but they are long gone!

I have the FX 8300 overclocked to 400 Ghz , paired with RX 470, 12 ddr3 1333mhz and I am such a happy, having such a powerful PCbrResolution is 1366 -768 and I can play all games, especially such demanding as : The Witcher 3, the Forza 5, Wo Long, Assassin's Creed Odyssey , Unity, Origin, the Spider Man brbrFor me, Yes, the FX 8300 is still enough and that is the Great CPU for gamers, who want to play by any costs
Comment from : AlexanderACTion

Vladi Todorov
Yes i'm still with my FX8300 4,5ghz 16 gigs 1866mhz and RX 480 And yes its not a problem for me to play the newest singleplayer games at around 50fps on 1440p and high settings🙂

The 8 core FX 8350 CPU was really way far too good for its time and AMD knew this This why AMD released the Ryzen line of CPUs and even with the Ryzen line of CPUs, one needed to move up to the Ryzen 3800X just to match the 8 core performance of the FX 8350 Why is this? The FX 8350 is "REAL" 8 core CPU Although the FX 8350 use more power than most CPUs at its time of launching, the FX 8350 did have to run 8 real CPU cores Unlike the Intel CPUs which promoted their Hyper-threading as "REAL" CPUs this was in fact not true as third party tests clearly showed that the i5 2500 could run head to head with the bigger and badder i7 2600 which had an additional 2 MB more cache and 4 additional threadsbrbrThis is exactly why computer shops stock on the i5 2500 and i5 2500K were always sold out People knew after reading the reviews that the i5 2500 line could run head to head with the flagship Intel i7 2600 and i7 2700 for less $$$$brbrThis same exact situation also happened when AMD released the FX line of CPUs However, at that same point in time, no software developer really knew how to take full advantage of multi-core CPUs and processing until just recently (after 2020) This is exactly why FX CPUs still command a premium even on the used computer market brbrREAL CPU cores > REAL work Hyper-threads are not real cores thus cannot do any real work whatsoever Hyper-threads are exactly what they are, they are just extra threads that are designed to bring more information to the CPU (if the CPU is capable and can process the additional information supplied by the extra hyper-thread)

I've had my PC for 10 years now FX-8350 on a ASUS Sabertooth MB with 32GB of RAM and a R9-290X 4GB I continue to use the machine for gaming though not so much for newer games (that will likely change once Cities Skylines 2 hits which may force the upgrade on me finally) Has been a fantastic PC which has barely missed a beat I've looked into upgrading a few times in recent years but not able to justify the upgrade cost as I have been able to still play everything i want to
Comment from : Peter

Speed Performance
My running pretty good i just make a video with 104 105 fps high settings 1080p with fx 8350 and gtx 1070 what is insane
Comment from : Speed Performance

VividJarl
I run a 8350 on a Sabertooth 990fx with a GTX 980 due to financial strain and honestly I'm constantly surprised that it both A, still runs and B, runs fairly recent releases on high Cyberpunk, COD:MW, Doom, all works perfectly fine for some reason beyond my mortal comprehension
Comment from : VividJarl

I just went to a ryzen 7600x from a fx 8350 Total war games were getting slogged real bad even with a 6600xt But and older game 2018 or before had zero issues

MKylander
Mine has been paired with many GPUs, latest was RX 5700 XT and I got a quite steady 80fps in GTA V with 2560x1080 and full settings Fallout 4, Dying Light, SnowRunner, Witcher 3 and many others ran with ease too Recently upgraded to Ryzen 5 setup which I managed to find affordably because the FX-8350 struggled a bit with Fallout 76 and Witcher 3 Next-Gen and I didn't dare trying Dying Light 2 or few others with it

I still use my AMD FX-8350 along with 32GB RAM to this day I've never had issues in any games until Cyberpunk 2077 got releasedbrI thought my RTX 3060 were the problem but turned out to be the CPU, I was actually shocked My powerful CPU after 11 years has finally become old

I have two ryzen based systems one is a ryzen 7 3700x and a ryzen 5 5600x but I still use my fx 8350 system more don't ask me why but I still do and what I use it for, it still works great for me I enjoy using it and playing games on it

Thanks for the video I game my brother my old fx 8350 setup for his first gaming pc but the gtx 970 is a bottleneck I wasn't sure if there were going to be anything I could do for him to play some better games without spending some large amount of cash but I might just buy a RX6600 He plays as 60 fps on a 1080p old monitor so as long as it gets some good visual and 30 to 60 he is happy
Comment from : pitochu19

Kanae Fukuda
been running an fx 8350 pc since i sold my ryzen pc to a friend puts me back into a time when i didnt have that much fps on titles i wanted to play, but all the more made it more interesting on how i play those games

Joshua Campbell
Guy is using an RX 6600 to run Witcher 3 enhanced at 1440p and he's blaming the 8350 for low frames? Umm it's not the CPU genius I'm using an 8350 and I'm maxing out everything at 4k I did have an RX 6600 for a while though, and it's a badass GPU for the price
Comment from : Joshua Campbell

Napalm Sunrise
FX8350 @ 48ghz since 2012 24/7 with a EVGA 970SSC and no issues running well above 60fps
Comment from : Napalm Sunrise

James Grundell
Donated my FX8350 (paired with a GTX 950) to my kids They play titles like Fortnite/Minecraft/Roblox and it’s perfect for the job Looking at throwing in an RX580 into it as the bottleneck is with the GPU to hopefully get it to see them through school
Comment from : James Grundell

Dj Mccullough
i used my 8350 until 2018 when i went to the 1800x currently running the 5800x3d in the same motherboard i migrated away from the 8350 to the 8350 was never "the performance champion" but it had the grunt to chew through most workloads for its price it was almost unbeatable in that role
Comment from : Dj Mccullough

I use an old AMD A6 (Piledriver) Notebook for websurfing and watching YouTube videos It's running cusomised arch linux With that it's still great for that usecase It feels like 60 ish better performance on Linux compared to windows Windows however is a hot mess on that thingbrbr(Also note that linux uses the Module concept better than windows does)

Our 4 y/o uses my 10 y/o system to play lego games and minecraft It is the fx 8120 in a sabertooth board with 32gb of ram and using the old titan x maxwell (2016) card The gpu is way overboard for it as fx bulldozer/zambezi bottleneck the hell out of games regardless None the less it is good, requires more power than my 58000x3d but it is still kicking and he will use it until it dies or he gets the am6 when those are out as we are skipping all of am5 and 40 series/70 series gpus out of principle Long and short, yes it is great 1080p , no it isnt stuttery
Comment from : Fuzzylumpkins

HitBM47
I still have my FX 8350 as a backup system, will want to keep it as long as I can It was really not a bad design, just not that performance compatible with how many games were programmed; for example, it performs horrendously in Resident Evil Operation Racoon City compared to an i7 870, but beats the i7 870 with a higher frame-rate in Dying Light 1brbrOn top of that, the FX 8350 supports AVX instruction set v1, so it can still open most games out there Games which are problematic with the FX 8350 is Far Cry 3-5, RE Operation Racoon City, StarCraft 2 late game, and DX9 Unreal Engine 3 game on Windows 10 with a pre-Navi GPU, but other than that everything pre-2022 sticks close to 60FPS or higher
Comment from : HitBM47

Ross Mclaughlin
I was starting to struggle to hit 60 with my fx 8350 in few titles when I upgraded to 2600 back when that came out but like you found hear it 1 lows and that was still playable but I started thinking that perhaps it didn't have long left interesting to see it's still holding on in there what an amazing chip 10 years on and still kicking Really was the value king 💯

A great video Shane 🥰🤩😇👍YouTube channel RA Tech did numerous tests with the FX-8350 and a few other old AMD CPUs and found for 50-100fps at 1080p gaming was still quite achievable in many titles and a number of multiplayer fps titles as well For a hobbiest, super budget pc builder, or a cheap Minecraft pc for the young’ins today … this cpu can handle these titles more than enough with decent quality settings
Comment from : Michael T

LeeBoy
I still got my FX 6350, still swinging
Comment from : LeeBoy

Cristi Trohin
Dude, the test setup has some serious flaws A lot of wasted potential The FX CPU only supports PCIE 20, and the RX 6600 has support for 8 PCIE lanes That means the GPU is using only 8 PCIE 20 lanes, which is equivalent to 4 PCIE 30 lanes or 2 PCIE 40 lanes That GPU is severely bottlenecked on this setup You would get much better results by pairing the FX with an RX 580 that supports the full 16 PCIE lanes The RX 580 will get better frame rates than the RX 6600 on this motherboard I actually have a FX 8300 paired with an RX 580 8GB in a backup system, and it can play anything I am getting way better frame rates with that setup than what you're getting with your setup
Comment from : Cristi Trohin

Craig Lortie
i got my AMD Phenom II X4 955 in a prebuilt at my job in 2012/2013 and kept it until it lost a core in 2018 even with just the three cores it was still running my pc just fine but i upgraded after ryzen came out if my 1600 keeps that longevity, i may pass it down to grand kids for a minecraft pc!
Comment from : Craig Lortie

Youtubebinger
8350 with a Radeon hd 6770 I mostly playing MMOs like Lost ark or ff14 with np Newest game I bought was spellforce which I saw a lot of stuttering Probably due to the GPU though I tried to play diablo 4 beta and wouldn’t even let me Again I think this is a gpu problem Planning on upgrading it to a gtx 1060 or gtx 1070 but I read bottleneck is a lot worse for 1070 so might not be worth paying extra
