Trevor LaBonte
Yes, shredding scales is relatively easy Much easier than learning to create actual music But after a player learns how, he becomes an insufferable arrogant cunt and he spends the rest of his life playing fast scales and believing he has ‘mastered’ the guitar’
Comment from : Trevor LaBonte

Andrew Nigsian

"You might be playing at 130 BPM"brbrDude, I'm lucky if I can get 30 😅brbrGood lesson, I'm gonna start slow and do the keeping contact with the string and build up Fibromyalgia and Tourette's makes control, rhythm and playing time tough, but I'm definitely sticking with this one Lesson saved, excellently taught, man Thank you for doing this 🙏

Daniel
I’ve been playing guitar for 5 years, happily jamming lower tempo songs that are plenty hard like little wing and plenty of Neil young I just ran into a blues song at around 130 bpm with quarter notes and I felt powerless to the section This makes me feel like I’ll have it in about a month Thank you!

johnson johns
very insightful: it reminds me a bit of the attitude and approach of a former Navy SEAL who now trains other hopefuls in this high-attrition endeavour: smart, kind of simple, big on mental

Just wanted to say that I discovered this video a while ago I had been struggling with getting my right hand faster for years, without any success This video was worth more than all of those hours trying to get faster, the wrong way Just a few months after watching this video, I have gone from struggling to play 16ths at 110BPM, to being able to confidently play songs with 16ths at 190, 200, and even 220 BPM I can even play complex right-hand patterns at 210BPM now Not comfortably, still need some practice for that, but the fact that I can even physically do it is a testament to the brilliance of the advice in this videobrbrThank you so much Ben Higgins!! I owe you big, please take this measly tip as a small token of my gratitude

Adam
Wow Followed this advice and literally found a way to pick faster than ever before, which seems effortless in a way I hold the pick a certain way that just feels right now I think the best advice was the bit about not focusing on going past the string like when you normally hit a string when playing slowerbrTremolo picking has been a thorn in my side for 20 years and now it's been taken out in an instant Can't thank you enough 🙌

Friend of the Lowly
"Our bodies are incredibly capable machines You create the demand it finds what it needs to meet it" br brOur bodies are incomparable to what humans can create When we create cars, if it gets a scratch on it, it cannot repair itself Yet, if our bodies get a scratch, it can repair the damage, and do even so so so much moreso To amount this to chance is simply illogical and unintelligent, just as no one would expect a car to repair a scratch of its own accord This has to be by means of a creator A Creator Someone who designed and made us this way Music is one of the most beautiful ways he expresses his love toward us And I am so thankful to acknowledge Jehovah as God and Father of all of us little ones May you give heartfelt thought to this comment, my friends and family <3

William Miranda
Amazing video I started playing 2 years ago and I still have serious trouble with tempos higher than 100bpm, mainly due to string resistancebrCurrently I anchor my hand at bridge and try to pluck the strings closer to the end when I need to play something fastbrBut in your case, seems that you dont rest your hand and also is able to pick near the neck pickup what is the magic?

ArrogantBaSStard
Second question, when picking fast on one string, the pick gets stuck on the up or down stroke which makes it so I can’t keep consistent Am I doing something wrong?
Comment from : ArrogantBaSStard

ArrogantBaSStard
Practicing this on one string makes sense but what if you are trying to pick fast across strings so that the notes sound connected? I didn’t get that part Thanks!
Comment from : ArrogantBaSStard

Mate, your words on "keeping the pick in contact with the string" are absolutely STELLAR!! my whole playing career I've instinctively thought that you must create some neat cyclic yet flowing stroke through the string but this simple psychological trick has handed me the keys to the Lamborghini!brThank you so much :')
Comment from : Alex Kendall

Watching this and practicing made my pickings 3x better before the video ended, great content ps the less you think about hand posture and more on keeping the pick touching the string, the better :)
