On one video I saw a man hung a tarpaulin all the way around his camp site, it helped cut down on the wind blowing, and the temperature too You could leave a couple in the van for cold weather, or a windstorm Comment from : Grand Catsmama |
Have you watched Rose Red Homestead? In a world of men survivalist's, she's a breath of fresh air She has a video on what to pack for us ladies Including a urinal for us as well as Midol and Preparation H The men usually say to carry a pad for a wound Comment from : Grand Catsmama |

Something no one seems to think of if your going because of say bushfire take copies of your insurance policy, and bank information and id, if you lose your home because of something like a bushfire that information will come in handy like you wouldn't believe! This is coming from someone who has seen how difficult things can be without that information Comment from : Bec Gould |

Love the idea Way too much stuff How much ibuprofen does your family go through in 72 hours? Multiple packs of cards, candy? Some of your items make sense if you have a bug out place otherwise, you are sheltering at home like most of us Most of your hard earned money spent on non essentials Again, love the idea Comment from : GiGi mama |

Some dollar tree items are worth it, others are notbrI’ve purchased those hand wipes several times and every time it’s either dried out or nearly dried out Not what you want in an emergency, they’re essentially useless Spring for the extra 22¢ per pack and buy the good Wet Wipes brand It’ll stay moist for a long time Comment from : uponamidnightdreary |

Take alll the stuff out of their bags, blister packs, etcless space and weight Comment from : Carol Stanley |
Note" put a few small zipper bags in each one, one especially for the wet used bar soap Better still, open box, cut the bar in half and put in small zip bag No need for each kid to have a whole bar, and it will take less space Comment from : Carol Stanley |
Hi Jamerrilltell me please about your name Comment from : tammy fields |
The bag is a great way to keep extra clothes dry Sanatizer is also great as a fire starter Also body cleaning wipes might be easier for the little ones to use Comment from : Mysticsoul |

Great video, and I am reading through the comments for additional ideas too! We live near a nuclear power plant, and we are supposed to have bags like this prepared in case we need to evacuate, but they didn't give us suggestions on what to pack! We are also stocking up a bit on non-perishable food and water for the house also, and it feels better to think we are at least somewhat prepared! I'm thinking of 2 separate bags - if we ever have to evacuate, most likely Hubby will be at work, so I have to carry for him, but I'll do one bag of personal items/clothes, and the other of emergency items I am waiting on a kidney transplant, so if they call me, I want a bag with both of our personal items all ready to go also, so it would work for either situation Comment from : 2 Blessed |
So I have thought of doing something like this for a while now, but the large family practicality turns me off from these kits So what I would like to do is maybe put together a tub of food that can be quickly lugged into the car- rather than food in each bag, and maybe use another tub for small kids stuff, clothes first aid tools and older kids can have more appropriate items in a bag Once a year you can go camping with the food and replace it afterwards Comment from : Rachel Campbell |
Dollar Tree also has instant coffee packets Comment from : Lynn Moonan-Palermo |
Toothache relief and repair kits would be a good thing to have I know CVS has them but I bet you can find them at Walmart Comment from : somecallmeblue |
Why 72h? As a non-American, I don't understand, is it that amount of time you are expected to manage until government send out help? If someone would explain I would be grateful! :) Comment from : Mya |
Tobin's hair is so cute 🎊 having an emergency backpack isn't something we do in UK but the way things are in the world right now I think it might be a good idea 🙏 Comment from : Deb Adams UK south Wales |
Really alot of this don't make sense what are you preparing for And how can you waste all that money just curious Comment from : Lena Lunsford |
great idea but I would think a couple of "family bags" might be a better idea than having a separate bar of soap, scissors, shampoo, etc for each child Comment from : Christa Wright |
Hi, Jamerrill, I might have missed your comment, but I asked on a forum I participate in what they think of the Dinty Moore beef stew I was surprised the response was 95 positive! So, it's a great choice for emergency packs or a quick throw together meal 😊 Comment from : lemoncrinckles |
Don't forget to have a Holy Bible packed too Comment from : Angela Stipes |

It helps not to get rid of those old book bags too and depending on your area don't forget socks a sweater and underwear and pads etc Comment from : Ashley F |
Great items Does fetch rewards work with on-line purchases? Comment from : Chriss Cushman |
Headlamps are great Comment from : Deana |
All the things are cool but USELESS unless you & Kids practice with them -- there is a learning curve for magnesium strikers, using the camp cookware, holding a tin cup/plate full of HOT food I suggest a few camping explorations before the bags are actually needed Comment from : gingergargoyle |
I have a medical bag and can carry ibuprofen Thermometer Pepto bismol Immodiu ets A big duffle bag for my husband to carry Cuts down on weight of things Like one bar of soap for all of us in a case I am sure you get the udea Comment from : Lorrie Molina |

Thank you for doing a lot of the leg work for us ! We’ve got a lot of our bug out bags ready but this video and lots of good suggestions in the comments ( highly encourage people to read all the comments)have helped me put together a list of other things we still need I’m encouraged to see most people already have some sort of emergency preparadness bag readyand for those who couldn’t understand why One would need one, I hope they read some of the comments to understand why Looking forward to watching the next new video with some dinner! Somehow I got two videos behind ! Comment from : makeuplover 68 |
Whats the emergency kits for? Are you preparing for the 72hr blackout? I guess Christians and Catholics would understand what I'm speaking of Could you do a emergency kit for your animals also? I would recommend a real beeswax candles that have been blessed If this is what your gearing towards Comment from : Darla Ford |
I love to make these for the vehicles for winter Comment from : Jenn Overholser |
Just a question are you writing a list of each item and exp date so you can use items before out dated? I’m sure you are Comment from : Stephie Creative |
We just moved and my sons found my beef jerky and nuts stash Close to expiration so they are having fun snacking on it all now Guess im buying more Comment from : Miss Annie |
Okay I can’t be the only one thinking it But some of this stuff I feel like you just don’t need Like why would every person need a whole sewing kit? Comment from : Kate Daborowski |
Your sweet little Tobin reminds me of a baby Kramer from Seinfield with that incredible hair :) And, I kinda already have an emergency backpack in my trunk I am diabetic so I travel with food and medical supplies And, I often get a "wild hare" to go for a nature walk or dive into a gym so I have workout clothes, shoes (even rubber boots--ruined nice boots at a random bunny farm), and showering supplies Memories of long trips for sports have me tuck away a blankie in the trunk, as well as emergency roadside kits with first aid supplies I figure if I am home, my trunk is in the driveway with those supplies, and if I am on the road, why it's there, too I've been known to make a "stash" in boyfriends' rigs, too, as it's just easier to avoid crisis mode or forego spontaneous adventure fun if I am being chauffered :) Maybe you could store your backpacks in the car, too? And, out of curiousity, how did you feel as a nurse when you read some of the survivalist ideas of stocking up on fish antibiotics and veterinary IV supplies for human use during emergencies?? Comment from : Maeg |
Tobins hair is amazing! 🤩 Comment from : Brittany |
The lifestraw bottles may be a good idea I’ve seen comments that the straws are hard to use Comment from : Ann Swann |
