Great video One item I encourage people to consider for a car kit is (in the US especially) an old cell phone that can keep a charge By law, all cell phones that power up, SIM card or not, can still dial 911 No subscription plan is needed If your phone is lost or stolen, it may become a great option Comment from : Steve |

I have to drive a great many miles during the winter and getting stuck in BFE in a snow storm is a real concern A 5-gal bucket with a gallon of water, clothes, sos rations, first aid kit (need to learn more on that), and a ham radio sounds like a great start for me Need to do that before winter Comment from : MoustacheMan |

One item that was handy for camping out in the bush for a few days was a common small gardener's weeding fork with twisted hooked tynes, not flat tynes which bend when hot, fitted with a substitute longer handle cut from an old broomstick It was useful for raking coals open to cook a damper, opening a coalbed for a camp oven and for raking back over, toasting a slice of bread over a very small fire, lifting food cans out of a hot ashey firebed If you are seriously into HF transceivers, a quarter-wave dipole wire antenna can be made out of a wind-up power cord reel, with a divider between two rolls of antenna wire The antenna is tuned by how much of the wire is allowed to roll out The end insulators were synthetic braided cord or rope used to tie off onto tree branches Porcelain egg insulators would be best for all weathers but cut-off pieces of PVC pipe or synthetic cord was mostly fine For receiving only, a wind-up power cord with all conductors linked at each end will do as a longwire antenna Comment from : DARANGULAFILM |
|
Gel hand sanitizer can be used for sanitation, fire starting, and as a cooking fuel Same thing for rubbing alcohol They are practically giving it away in 2022 Comment from : Wes |

We have a small tablet with all the books of first aid and maps of the area we live in up to 1000 miles away and plant identification It is all downloaded so no connection needed and we have a backpack solar panel that can recharge as needed It weighs nothing compared to even 1 book but if it craps out on you you are out all that information so we are thinking of getting 1 for each bag that way 1 is none 4 is 3 lol! A collapsable measuring cup set would be helpful since some of those meal pouches need water measured Also for entertainment, a whiteboard or two goes a long way! You can play pictionary, tic-tac-toe, guessing games, spot-the-difference, and lots of other stuff without using up paper I've also found it's really helpful to just write down a list of games you can play without any pieces like 20 questions, down by the bay, etc I always do it for long roadtrips and it really helps Look up lists of games online while you can and give kids (and adults!) things to do to keep spirits upbrThank you so much for this and all your other videos!!! It's probably hard to actually recommend this one for legal purposes - but if you can get a hold of a small count of extra extra strength pain killers, it could really mean the difference between being able to move and not in a really crunchy situation Also a couple of different strains of antibiotic medication Neither of these should be used in every day life if at all possible, but in an emergency situation you might be very glad to have them Comment from : David Keetz |
