Every creditor named in my chapter 7 honored the law and got off my back after filing, except one medical biller who recently sent me a letter demanding payment for a $16 balance My attorney never really seemed to care about me after the filing and getting paid I want to see this medical biller get punished for ignoring the law Is there any way I could sue them or at least get them fined for ignoring my filing? They were named in my filing, so there's no way they can claim they were not given notice to stop harassing me

My husband and I make too much to qualify for part 1 of the means test and have 2500 disposable income after part 2 of the means test Is there any other way to qualify for chapter 7? Can hiring a good lawyer get you to qualify?

What about a cc that is attached to my Chase bank acct This is the only cc I'm concerned about I am on SSI and recieve direct deposit I already opened a new acct and switched my deposit over but I worry that the SSA will drag their heels and let's say not get my deposit in new acct until April

If you file Chapter 7, will you be able to keep some credit cards? If you're current with payments on some of your cards, will you need to go into default on those remaining CCs so you can file Chapter 7? brUnfortunately, we're living in a time when, in some circumstances, we need to make payments electronically, like buying an airplane ticket or making reservations, so getting rid of all your cards would be very difficult

I had a few CC debts that I could negotiate and settle on my own After I paid the settlement, I received a DOC to pay taxes on the amount I didn't pay; this will be considered income by the IRS There's one debt that I still need to settle due to the amount being higher than the other cards; I decided to pay the smaller amounts first and intended to get to the last card, but they already filed a lawsuit against meI was told that the Creditor (Bank of America) was difficult to deal with, especially when they filed a lawsuit against me brSo I decided to ask a Local lawyer to help me settle The lawyer said he reached out to them, but they refused to negotiate, so the lawyer recommended I file Chapter 7 or accept a monthly payment agreement; I'm still debating if I should file or not, especially after I negotiated and settled on the other cardsbrI lost a job that I had held for over 20 years, and as a result, due to the stressful situation I was in, I became sick, having to go to the hospital frequentlybrI decided to become a consultant, opened my own company, and started working from home at the end of 2019; that was ok given that Covid was forcing everyone to stay indoors and the Covid rules were now in effect But unfortunately, my income has been irregular, and it varies month by month, so if I don't settle and decide to pay monthly, I may become trapped and be late or behind again on my payments brLet's say I file Chapter 7; what will happen to the debt amount I didn't pay? Can the creditors still sue me or sell the unpaid amount to a third-party junk debt buyer even if I already paid taxes on it? Or filling out Chapter 7 will eliminate the possibility of them still coming after you?

Now if you're on SS and that's your only income, you're "Judgement Proof" you're money is protected, they can't seize itbrbrI have two collection agencies (debt buyers) who called me did the "We're trying to collect a debt" and find out I'm on SS and I'm not about to pay them one centbrbrThey haven't called again, they know I'm not worth spending time trying to collect from as I know the law, and the law protects me
