My daily driver computer is my Dell XPS m1730 running windows 81 and with the two SSD drives it's performance is still not terriblebrbrBut this is a mobile computer in name onlybrbrThe power brick on it's own is heavier than most laptops lol

I feel that old laptops are easily repairable, meaning you can easily do a DIY repair at home But with the modern laptops, it's tough to repair and many of the people take it to a repair shop to get the laptop repairedbrbr(Sorry I don't mean to offend anyone who works at a repair shop or owner of a repair shop)

The crazy thing is now a 100wh battery isn't even insane, and can fit inside a computer less than half an inch thick Even li-on batteries have come a long way in 19 years, and the fact that they no longer need 18650s and thick cases helps a lot too And $1800 for 2GB of RAM was insane even in 2004, when 1Gb cost about $300

I had a similar laptop, an Amilo D Series (Fujitsu Siemens) 28 ghz desktop P4, 256MB of RAM and 9800 Mobility That thing, with a little RAM upgrade, played all games I threw at it until DX10 games came out (around 5 years worth of games), it was a rocket "Only" 1280x1024 however and overheated like crazy Battery life barely two hours, man I love desktop replacement from early to mid 2000s!

I actually have an XPS M170I love it, and it's built in subwoofer and led lights on the lid and in the speaker grillesbrbrThe model I have also has a 17" 1080p HD display, and it's pretty cool for the time period brbrIt is similar to this model you have in terms of upgrading, except I can go up to 4GB of DDR2 ram, and the GPU is just an nvidia 7800m with only 128mb Vramvery disappointing that it can only be upgraded to 512mb using a first gen Alienware that has the same case

My working notebook is Inspiron 1501 retired from my job in 2012 I believe I got it for my wife and upgraded Athlon 1,8 to Thurion 2,2, HDD to Hybrid HDD 500GB, RAM 512 to 2GB And to 4GB this year (it fighted me back, but I insteat)! So I installed Windows 7 Home and its totally hot thing, so I must keep it off table or on fans I use it as graphical editing machine and watching youtube, in fact resolution 1366*768 is too low They only huge disaster is watching any kind of videos(I filmed on smartphone or my cameras), it drops the driver ATI xpress 1150, and this is because I installed Win7 I played with all drivers possible, no success So I think to make external graphics card for it

I had one of these laptops in 2004, ran Firefox, took it on YouTube, did video editing and physics sumulations, and it ran super-smooth I think it's a testament to how inefficient modern web browsers and websites are that it struggles trying to do exactly the same stuff with new software
