Only thing I don't really agree with is using the modeling clay at the end of the barrel I have the fear that the barrel has the ability to sink a little during the curing process I am planning to tape the barrel before removing stock material to the point that the barrel will sit in the stock the same way prior to removing material Also, is the aluminum tape necessary? It looks like you use it only to highlight the places you put them to help explain why you put the tape there

@StompMeister Hi, I am from NZ Sorry, you will have to check with your local laws on the category licensing and minimum lengths As for smithing, there are two ways, some folk learn in their own time, combining previously obtained machine shop skills with the study of published literature (eg- Steve Acker, author, The Gunsmith Machinist) Many others utilize the Montana school of gunsmithing People travel to Montana from as far as NZ for this course

Gooday mate! You're Australian I'm guessing? If so, so am I Do you have any tips on how to get into gunsmithing? Also, to be a gunsmith that works on CatC guns, do you only need a CatC license? And from buttstock to the tip of the barrel, whats the minimum length of a legal rifle? Sorry if its too many questions but an answer would be much appreciated Thanks, catchyas

@sgtleroym Hi, what you need to understand is that if the block is not lowered, the action will sit too high once bedded This is standard gunsmithing 101, the methods I employ have been around since the 1960's, most likely earlier If you are unsure, consult an experienced gunsmith As for accuracy, I take pride in my client rifles being able to produce groups averaging 35" at 1000 yards If you wish to, you can interact with past clients via the forums on the website
