Wow!!! Thanks Gunny Comment from : Duke VonFlankenHeimer |
Work on your breathing and trigger pull At that distance your groups should be tighter Just saying Comment from : Mustang Guru |
That first group keyholes Last round Hummm Something not right that round or the twist in the barrel Comment from : Mustang Guru |
Good to see someone keeping their head on the rifle until they have finished shooting, it makes a difference to accuracy and consistency Comment from : Dave S |
Very nice video very helpful thank you Comment from : Sal Zepeda |
My howa 1500 1/10 twist will really group well with anything over 165gr it loves the Hornaday a max 168gr black rifle ammo Comment from : Al Palmieri |
You didn't pull your first two shots!! Have you ever heard of fouling shots before you shoot a group Comment from : Gregory Olenick |
Am I wrong in saying that this is not a 308 rifle The action seems too short and it doesn't recoil like a 308 It doesn't sound like a 308 either If that gun is too be used for varmints, that grouping would not be acceptable to me Also, when did 308 become a varminter I guess u can use any caliber you want for the smaller critters but just for varmints exclusively, I always considered smaller, faster, flatter shooting calibers to be better suited for smaller game Comment from : Donald Sharpless |
To really show the bedding before and after, you should have had it in a rifle vise, prevents shots being pulled Comment from : Shadowcard |
my shotgun shoots groups that good, just sayin Comment from : Just Me |
You may not have pulled the first two shots It may have taken the first two shots for the barreled action to settle into its new home Comment from : Luvta Handload |
Use reloads!! Much more consistent Comment from : Sig 226/2022 |
At 100 meters that's a very nice group Comment from : hokanut |
factory ammo? or reloads? Comment from : bigzuspanH&H |
Wow People its a 700 not a custom barrel 3k rifle Those groups are good You all know you have shot worse Nice video man ignore the keyboard heros Comment from : A Vazquez |
Oops i take that back i see its 308 Hope you get it figured out anyway Comment from : brryan57 |
A great improvement Did use use acraglass Comment from : David Breckenridge |
I would have expected those groups at 300yds You need to get some better quality ammo I just got back from shooting some of Hornady's match ammo, and with 3x 5-round groups, OFF THE SHOULDER (I don't have bags or a vise), the largest group was 65 MOA, and the smallest was 5 MOA Completely stock, except for some sanding at the front of the Hogue stock and a bipod Comment from : Trollygag |
Nice job, dude Bedding is worth the 24-hr wait Comment from : Arnie Hoyt |
Instead of money to feed a magnum rifle, Why dont you take that money and take some english classes? Comment from : Bj |
for all the haters: stand in front of the target and see how poor of a shot he is when your bleeding out on the range Comment from : SouthJerseySupra |
Bedding really didnt seem to help you at all that much If those are real bullet punches ( which I doubt ) the Gun needs cleaning Comment from : Tigger poohs |
Good Job Mate!! Comment from : farmallcubtractor |
Rear bag that rifle
Comment from : Tyson Mackay |
Good grouping I bet with a better scope it be even better along with practice Comment from : RanchhandTCR |
i think your grouping is nice you did good I'm not sure if you purposelly neglected the cold bore shot, but if you practice on that you will be doing good man for sure Comment from : Brian P |
@mrbraly Well some people cant shoot well but 1 moa is what is in my eyes all you need Comment from : Tyler |
OK, the first part of the video shooting from the bench was definitely a "high power" rifle But the video at 1:10 seemed to be extremely poor in accuracy even after bedding Also at 1:39 you can actually see a blur of something flying into the target Did this video get mixed up with one of someone shooting and air rifle perhaps? I own a Savage Edge 308 and have done nothing to it except put cheap glass on it It shoots basically same hole to the point of aim at 100 yards Comment from : jrhead8151 |
@wildernesseducation Ya, besides how many of the haters and bashers out there really get the groups they're boasting? I've shot with tons of these supposedly 1/100 moa declaring tools who end up getting mad at me because I'm at the range laughing at them If anything I'm glad to see someone actually report a good TRUE grouping And besides it's the shooter that makes the system work, not the gear and it's always a fun challenge to try to become as good as your gear Comment from : Benjamin Potts |
Lot of hater comments on here from the tactical couch ninjas Comment from : keith g |
did you fire the rifle first before grouping or was it done with a cold bore? Your first few rounds with a cold bore are not going to group very well Comment from : keith g |
you need lower scoper ring's
Comment from : camocorvette |
Actually it shot better before you intervened Comment from : Panamá-Canadá |
excuse me if this was mentioned already
maybe it was because the paper wasn't tight, but it really looks like it was key-holing (bullets hitting sideways because they aren't stabilized) what weight bullets are you shooting Maybe they are too heavy, which would cause the keyholing and horrible accuracy Comment from : joeshmoe12301230 |
I think you did great, man I have the tactical and put a Timney trigger on it With handloads, it will shoot 5-10 all day Glen Comment from : 2253glen |
@tequese thanks for the kind words mate Comment from : Scottish Homestead |
Dont listen to the haters mate Even if the problem is you (I dont know, heck I think i am handy with a gun but by no means would I say I am a pro) its nothing a bit of practice cant fix
But in my oppinion I thought it was a good group after bedding Looked at your 400 yard vid too and I think it would be capable of doubling the distance I think some of the haters should post a few videos of their shooting, from what I can see most of them only have favourite videos and no uploads Comment from : tequese |
Looks just like bad shooting to me Sorry to be frank Comment from : fusionstar916 |
well done i watched all the videos on bedding, i have to say you covered it very well and you got a great result out of it to boot thanks Comment from : Precision Rifles Ireland |
we call the first shot or two fouling shotsif your barrel was just cleaned it may explain the difference after those two shots it got much better
nice jobany trigger work yet? Comment from : xxkodiakx |
I didnt see much difference in your groups
But awsome videos Comment from : Cktime ThirtyTwo |
@burton63x
I thought the same thing I'm not sure what load he's shooting or the twist of the barrel, but that's odd at that short of a distance Comment from : The Sleep & Relaxation Channel |
is it just me or did the 3rd shot hit sideways? before bedding Comment from : Cody Ives |
The HS Precision stock works wonders! Comment from : TERYDOTCOM |
Some really nice shooting here Its nice to see someone who really knows how to shoot - shooting! Comment from : TERYDOTCOM |
Cost stocks cost money bedding the rifle is cheap The stock has a wide fore grip and can be used for hunting or target shooting But i have also taught my self a new skill that i can use on other rifles It was also a fun project to do and gave me a subject for a new set of videos for my channel Also a geat sense of self satisfaction to improve the rifles accuracy by your self and not just buying and ready made stock Comment from : Scottish Homestead |
25 cm or 1 inch Comment from : Scottish Homestead |
how far apart is every line? Comment from : HappyMerc |
bedding is the process in which you create a very accurate fit between the stock and the action using a bedding compound like epoxy resin You basicaly fill the area of the stock were the action sits with resin and you clamp the action into it so it creats a perfect fit This stops the action and barrel moving from shot to shot improving the accuracy Comment from : Scottish Homestead |
Im sorry, but whats bedding? Comment from : zyou8er |
how come it's so quiet? Is it really that quiet or is it because of the camera? Comment from : Vasile Cimpean |
Hawk Sidewinder 30 8-32x56 Comment from : Scottish Homestead |
