A plumber from the housing association replaced my tape and as he was finishing, he said, "a lot of people have drips coming from the back of the tap so I'm putting some sealant around it" brThis is shoddy work and the only thing I can figure is because he replaced the old tap with a smaller one and didn't line it up properly over the hole I removed the sealant because he slapped it on with the surface still dirty Now, it leaks A new tap should not be leaking from the base of it brHe also didn't need to put sealant on the base of the tap on the sink It leaks from the back so I figured he left a tiny gap instead of lining it up over the hole properly brI'm going to try to reposition the tap I am not surprised that the housing association sent out yet another cowboy builder/contractor I keep having to re-do their work and it's annoying

After years of ownership of an ideal standard i discovered i could remove the lever for pop up waste put the supplied allen key down and tighten from the top

Ok, did this today Many thanks for the excellent video However when I turned the water pressure back on there was slight trickling from the head of the flexi I have tightened this but still water is present Do I need some silicone on this?

I would not recommend a mixer tap Never They destroy plumbing systems and the hot water never works It flows very poorly They should be banned by the government

At the 6:36 need to add to L fittings to come in face with tiles addind two 1/2'' angle cock bath fitting to avoid the problem

my existing tap looks exactly the same which is now wobbly its exactly the way you showed the underside which is corroded i am looking in ebay how do I ensurebi get the same kind of tap which comes with flexi hosei see the pop up waste thing i cannot see that part on most of the taps on ebayis there any other name for it or does it generally come with the tap

in my thoughts, you have to open a tap and run water for couple of seconds to let out air which is trapped into flex pipe, and than check for any leaks ;)

wow this video came in time with my leaky lever tap (puncture in one of the hoses in the middle ) and its exactly the same modellolbronly difference is that i have two small valves for both hot and cold sidebrjust unscrew the hoses and the tap screwbrbrbredit : just watched the entire videoi think i have the same adjustable wrench (the grey one )let me geuss its a bahco 9031 right ?

you're right it is a fairly straightforward task until the water doesn't turn off fully or the trap been glued in and you can't get your spanner in,,it's sods law the job that you do will be awkward

Ches, why doesn't anyone use plumbers mait nowadays? I'd have thought that if you put that round the tap hole, you'd be much less likely to get the corrosion that caused the problem in the first placebrbrGood idea about putting the ratchet on the other end of the box spanner The hours I've spent moving a tommy bar back & forth! :)

Wouldn't have taken much for the last person who put it in to go 90 degrees out the wall, just laziness I also put a little sealant on the mating surface of the baseplate which meets the body as this is metal to metal as I find this seeps water Crazy why manufacturers omit this basic thing, they but a sealing washer on the under side but not the other mating surface! Great video as always :)
