I think one can safely say that any crewed flight to Mars by anyone, but Elon Musk and Space X in particular, will be strictly on Elon time - meaning far later than he is saying and as far as colonization is concerned, never Starship has not even made ONE successful flight yet and has not even reached low Earth orbit yet, never mind Mars In fact, there is no chance at all that Starship will land astronauts on the Moon in December 2025, not much more than 2 years from now Think about all the test flights that need to be done first and the refueling that needs to be done and it is pretty clear that it will be many years before Starship with people ever lands on the Moon And yet going and landing on the Moon is so easy compared with going and landing on Mars, which is far,far further away than the Moon If it will take many years, as I believe, before a Starship with people aboard lands on the Moon, it will take decades certainly before there is even any chance at all of Starship landing on Mars, let alone starting a colony!
