motorcycles injections still doesn't use lambda real time correction? why? Comment from : @AfonsoBucco |
We get a lot of rain here on the west coast of Norway, and I can tell you I run mine a little rich, and it starts up every time on one kick Even when it's minus degrees out 👌 Comment from : @arctic3032 |
10 degrees out and I went out to start my EFI 400 kawasaki Ninja that hadnt run in weeks touched the start button and it almost immediately settled into a flawless idle My former Harley was a bear to start cold even in summer EFI for me Comment from : @markosborne9558 |
what is there to think??? fuel injection is better in majority of situations -thats it! Comment from : @MrAlkanet-nt9ic |
I like fuel injection, carbureted bikes are a pain Comment from : @canrule08 |
Joffrey Comment from : @dandindon3990 |
Junius as always but with this one even more 👏 Comment from : @royrlgd |
A carburetor is simply an analog fuel metering computer Comment from : @BobKuykendall |
hmm I disagree Carbs are a pain in the a$$ No one wants to re-jet their carb when they travel to elevation or when it's really cold/hot out And not all EFI in motorcycles are throttle body injected or port injected They even have 2 stroke direct injection dirtbikes Let's not go back to the Flintstones with carbs Ya They work But cmon no one wants to have to be fooling with it! Any fuel injection technology is going to be an improvement over carbs Comment from : @joelboutier1736 |
You're too good of an instructor for me not to subscribe even though bikeless Comment from : @onefodderunit |
Carbs were OK until you have four on a bike WHY? Volkswagens were four-stroke, four-cylinder, air-cooled, and they only need one WHY? Comment from : @chrisscott1547 |
I’ll take fuel injection over a carburetor any day Comment from : @Jb-uy5zx |
What model Harley Davidson is shown at 6:49 ? Comment from : @b7page |
CARBUETOR !!! Comment from : @user-fr5cc9cc9c |
So in other words the ethanol is supposed to be for the environment yet it’s destroying fuel systems monthly across the globe Let alone you can’t tune the fuel air on many engines now Yeah eco friendly my ass Comment from : @shinigami117s8 |
"Some people find it inconvenient to pull their knob once or twice a day" Delivered with a straight face! 😂😂😂 Comment from : @nickvandernet |
Fuel injection bikes don't release gasoline fumes, do not gum up when stored, start and run better during warm up Carb bikes usually have smoother throttle response on deceleration Comment from : @kevinnielsen1356 |
Good catch bud! Comment from : @Bobs_basic-rides |
Modern cars have self learning ECU, why is that not on Motorcycles? I do know that my 2005 car only self learned one way, and had limited memory, but assume since processing power and memory is cheaper new cars do it better? So why not motorcycles? I did have a yamaha gts1000 with injection, worked like a charm Comment from : @arnoudjanschut |
I didn't know half of this The only reason I will remember what I didn't is because of those teaching skills Ryan Great video honest to God Comment from : @Rav3nclaw43 |
FortNine, thank you so much for helping to confirm one of my personal prejudices - we have GOT to stop trying to turn bike mechanics into computer programmers I would far, far prefer a straight-forward, here-it-is-now-YOU-deal-with-it real-world issue over a, "Hmwonder how many lines of code this piece of software will require to have rewritten in order to actually work?" The latter goes entirely against my ethos of motorcycling-equals-minimalism Comment from : @andrewbaggley276 |
Your awesome Comment from : @clintdickens3825 |
The choke is there to reduce the air and add some gas since some of the gas will condensate on the cylinder head and piston and when it condense it won’t burn 🔥 something like that 😊 Comment from : @Kebekwoodcraft7375 |
Thanq joeffrey Comment from : @mouluvlogs6070 |
A bulletin from BUELL - written by the engineer who was tasked with designing the fuel injection for their 1200cc bikes, said the reason for fuel injection was for clean burn for enviornment brNOT performance Comment from : @JT-gq8wv |
I just got my first fuel infected br03 ninja 636 and was very confused when it had a choke and an idle adjustment so all that I gained from having fi is no more clogged jets Comment from : @ArmyOfThree1000 |
I am almost undoubtedly the only person on this forum who has extensively modified and tuned a carbureted motorcycle engine, as well as having completely redefined the air/fuel and other maps for a high performance motorcycle from the ground up, every cell in every map (there isn't one map, there are several) Without using a dyno, by the waybrTrust me on this You want to tune the ECU / air fuel map, not a carburetor Although arithmetically more complex, and tricky to grasp at first, your control over every scenario is vastly better, and vastly easier Comment from : @clive1294 |
So, ideally, a fuel-map powered by AI would be the perfect solution to the current predicament? Comment from : @konrad8921 |
Just found and caught up with this vid Ryan, sfunny I have a set of Viton 3 repair kits in front of me on the kitchen table for my old Tiger triple , which arrived from England today So that will be the next big job as soon as I have the new E10 resistant fuel hoses too, and got the little bastards out of the bike 😞 Can't wait to stop screwing the bike and getting my leg over again 😉 Comment from : @Wrong-Way-Round |
Bro, the amount of knowledge in these videos I know how a damn fuel injection system wo nevermind I THOUGHT I knew how a fuel injection system works Comment from : @turmat01 |
in brazil a considerable amount of motorcyclists are carburetor crazy, mostly because here the average joe cannot buy anything more potent than a 160cc (not joking, 250cc's are widely considered a "strong bike") so, with carburetors having the fame of spending more gasoline but getting to higher velocity, many of the motorcyclists that love speed prefer carburated bikes, with the carburated hornet being a greatly loved motorcycle Comment from : @ohdarling6657 |
I love the carbs on my ZG1000! Carbs cool the mixture naturally as it breathes too Comment from : @MeRideMyBike |
Illuminating! Comment from : @marinogrivonlaverde6963 |
Can i use aviation gas to avoid the ethanol clogging the jet on my DR650 carb? Or would the higher octane and the fact its leaded cause more problems than it would solve? Comment from : @austinharris6193 |
Nobody is saying a word about those poor kids left empty handed😳 Comment from : @alfred4364 |
love how he doesn't even blink an eye while he makes those juvenille puns 😂 Comment from : @sankalpkatara6346 |
How does Ryan manage to be a complete nerd while also writing hilarious, contemporary scripts? It feels like he's great comedian with an engineer in the background writing the episodes material How does a guy get so educated while still being outwardly hilarious and keeping a pulse on subtle social cues Comment from : @jackfalcon5352 |
These videos are so good I've been keeping my 2017 KLR running myself with no training for 75K miles So far I had to change clutch plates and, more recently, piston rings Took me a while to figure out clutch plates Piston rings I identified right away from oil-fouled spark plug, thanks to my Clymer manual The bearings on the rear wheel broke while bike was over-loaded but that could be because I put it back together wrong Cooling issues have plagued me since I first got it and kamikaze'd into a ditch I didn't see After that I added crash bars Made a few mods to the carburetor, but I seem to be getting less power than I did before That's why I watched this video Hopefully I can figure out why I'm not getting most HP possible Just saw most recent ebay replacement radiator leaking this morning Guess I'll go back to one of my old spares Oh and I swapped out the exhaust cam-shaft It wore down a good full mm hugely increasing valve clearances For some reason my front-right valve is still way more clearance than it should be No shim sizes would bring it to spec Not sure what to do there Could be the valve lifter Comment from : @QuixoticOdyssey |
Okay, but the carb or EFI, IS NOT ALL THE BIKE! The two are an important part, just that not depend of ther, if start up or not your engine Comment from : @jesuscarrizosa1 |
Thx for the information May no one notices, but your kind of intonation and alternation in talking is hard to follow for me Luckily subtitles are there for reading instead listening Comment from : @bertlzansinger |
Hmmm?brNo offense but why people are more leaning towards the older more clunky parts rather than more effective and fail proof ones?brI mean I get it having the knowledge and some portion of control over your gear is so sweet This is why I never liked IOSbrBut I have lost count of the times that my bike drove me crazy because it was suffocating because of the carburetor, heck one time we had to change the fuel completely for it to workbrIt's so much tedious work for me to consider it reliable Comment from : @mehmetgurdal |
two years since this video Comment from : @richardgomez8010 |

Carburetor is French for don’t mess with it Comment from : @whiskeytangohotel6624 |
just run fuel stabilizer and always keep your tank topped up Comment from : @Dundee |
I still prefer a 2-stroke with a carb I can fix and tune a carb, but not a DFI Comment from : @thecbc7658 |
carbs are better than efi they just are Comment from : @KillerKolemans-kg2wx |
Have never owned an injected bike My old Wing is always fussy after sitting for 8 months It always eventually starts though Injection might help this Comment from : @richardahola692 |
I changed my fuel injected bike to flatslide carb and i'm loving it Comment from : @mooiboyace |
Carbs still fail at atomisation and still have imprecise fueling You also can put an 02 sensor on a bike, which also makes FI even more efficient, AND ethanol has a higher flame speed, so is better suited to high revving bike engines Comment from : @GuyMahoney |
Ethanol’s no picnic but I don’t think it clogs jets worse than … non-ethanol that’ll also varnish and lack the alcohol solvent to clean things out (talking short-term storage, like 4 weeks, well before the ethanol turns the carb bowls into lime jello) Comment from : @desmo8755 |
Pulling your knoblooool, love my carbed Fireblade with a carb bike you are 'at one' with your throttle I'll buy the fancy fuel additives, I love carbs Comment from : @badger4361 |
super anna Comment from : @abhishekvanenooru2869 |
Now motorcycles have a lambda controller that fix the carburation holes in the map Its a sensor that analyse exhaust fumes and tell the ecu "yo bro there is too much o2 left here, put some more gas" Comment from : @amzuppa |
This guy's channel is the for riders that outgrew that YammieNoob idiot SO MUCH BETTER CONTENT Comment from : @olliefraga |
poor kids, they left with empty hands and a lesson that they can not understand :p Comment from : @reoproedros |
finally a video that made me understand how the carb works Comment from : @pinoyedcknives |
I have an electric bike 🤌🏾🤌🏾 Comment from : @obeii1805 |
After all these years of trying to grasp carb technology it turns out I didn’t need a smarter brain, I needed a better teacher Thanks Fortnine, we love you dearly Comment from : @alexferguson6172 |
Fuel maps are now setup to produce the lowest emissions not max power So buy something like a power commander and get it set up properly ,your bike will be much more responsive Comment from : @davidtrail4731 |
How are bikes not changing the fuel map according the sensors as a car? i cannot believe that wtf What world do we live in? Comment from : @KaliKavala |
She's so cute 😂 Comment from : @Lianpe98 |
For long term storage I empty fuel and spray WD40 Ethanol was going to be temporary , now we subsidize soil destroying corn production Comment from : @Papawcanner |

Hahahahaha!!! The look on that little girls face is priceless!!! Comment from : @guitarzzero |
My yamaha roadstar 1600 has more hp than the 1700 Mine has a carburetor and the other is fuel injection But the 1700 has a few pounds more torque than the 1600 Comment from : @williamloganklug8986 |
Thanks man Cool advice Comment from : @williamward7226 |

High school automotive mechanicsin 1964 they taught me that it's not a gas pedal,it's an air pedal !! Comment from : @wdhewson |
I absolutely LOVE your videos! That being saidbrbrbrI've broken down with fuel injection, and I've broken down with carburetors I'd much MUCH rather break down with a carburetorbrbrAlso, carbs absolutely ARE simple when you understand them Comment from : @brooklyngolden9464 |
I miss pulling my choke knob Comment from : @northidrecluse2306 |
This is the day i learn that American fuel goes funny after sitting around for a few week Comment from : @Domassjames |
This is why companies like fuel moto exist to make those fuel maps better to suit the stock or modified bike Comment from : @Silentroller93 |
I love carburettors❤ for no reason I don't know why Comment from : @vigneshwaran7437 |
Hahahaha this little girl, what an act at the end Comment from : @boki69ful |

Amazing content Thanks for explaining TPI and challenges for actual injection How does KTM do it now? Comment from : @MartyZaluski |
Thank you for this video, learned a lot in this short amount of time Comment from : @flamespirit1 |
Guys an idiot! Fuel injection is more problems! Comment from : @alexanderfernandez5717 |
Kind of overplaying the problem with carbed bikes after sitting for a long time, i had a yzf 600 r that sat through 2 montana winters in a cold barn with a half tank of gas, no fuel treatment, no battery tender, and when i went to start it up one cold december day it fired right up and ran juat fine 90's ethanol fuel might have been gummy but modern fuel with detergents and what not is good forever Comment from : @user-nb8yt2il2r |
Clearest explanation of the basis for fuel feed systems I have ever seen Thanks Comment from : @manylch7964 |
