This grip also helps on longer stretches for a kind of cruise control, if you don't have that on your bike Also very relaxed and less tyring Comment from : PauleeDee Himself |
Didn't you literally make a video over 2 years ago explaining that leaning like that in the first place is bad??? Comment from : Shut Down Heart |
I accidentaly dragged the bottom left of the thicc boi scooter for the first time I have used it for like 2 months now (idk about the previous user aka My brother and my dad) but it was abit exhilerating, especially since I was racing a bit after I raced to campus (went back immediately since I just had to sign something due to circumstances) and watching this video made me realized that I did instinctively move my hand position, though I should practice mindfully doing this cause I still need to practice my control Comment from : Albert E |
While the rotating part makes sense, I don't think your grip is strong enough to hold onto when revving the shit out of the bike Comment from : Fl4m3rX |

Even more importantly I learned not to blame the tyres when I’m accelerating while increasing lean angle Such basic stuff sandwiched in advanced stuff That’s why I never miss a video Comment from : Amrutraj Gore |
Correct hand position on the throttle depends on whether you are using stock bars, superbike bars, or clip ons I use a different grip depending on what type on bars I am racing with Comment from : Steve S |
YOU ARE GOLD TO MOTORCYCLE COMUNITY 😄 Comment from : Artur Grigoryan |

there's never a time I don't have 3 fingers on the front brake and the clutch You don't need to gorilla grip your grips, any rider that's been on the road for any time should know this But, the 3 finger controls grip doesn't translate towhatever this is Comment from : Don Goff |

This seems to be a video made for street riding, but does this also translate to dirt biking on trails? I will try this when I go riding tomorrow, but in dirt biking I've always seen people saying to have 90° elbows Not sure whether it's possible to have this grip at the same time Comment from : Eagle19 |
“You gotta have breakfast anyway” 😂 Comment from : Lily Duncan |

You know you looooooove it Comment from : Caleb J |
Better dropped the ice cream than bike Comment from : REDLINE RUNNER |
While all the talking points in this video are correct, I would challenge that this grip is best used in a right hand corner We should focus on having an adaptive grip that changes given different body positions For example, you cant have an "ice cream cone" grip on the throttle while leaning into a left hand turn Great video, thanks Comment from : SlowButDangerous |
I'm about to do my motorcycle drivers license and was wondering about this whole throttle grip thing just today when this video landed on my YouTube start page Comment from : Biramira |
For navigating anything more intricate than a 4 lane limited access interstate, the ice cream grip (never heard it called that before) has always been my natural grip But 3 hours at highway speeds with that grip and the outboard side of my hand and pinky will cramp pretty significantly Comment from : thomabb |
I'm so glad I practice kendo and kenjutsu Got this grip all down already because that's exactly how one grips a sword The angle of a firm handshake The pressure should be like you're holding a little bird, too loose and it flies away Too tight and you kill the bird Comment from : private karateka |
ice cream grip style Comment from : ហ៊ា កូរ៉េ |
I triedthis does not applied to ordinary computer bike Comment from : Sergey Kopylov |
Love the sense of humor in every video It should be pointed out that the grip described is for turning right only When turning left you should still have an angular grip but the right arm will be straight or near straight and down across the top of the tank Same type of rotational principles It is also more difficult to achieve WOT on corner exit from left side turns and depending on the throw a throttle tube with a progressive cam can help a lot on some bikes Comment from : Nathan Wooten |
Why dont you ask or show the track pro that you took advice from in this vid your opinion/video on how you should LEAN your mc?! Comment from : mark white |
Just watched a motogp race and they were showing a different view with shoulder cams! It was awesome Anyway, the riders were actually gripping the throttle they way you say not to Tough to go against professional riders Comment from : Matthew Brooks |

Holy shit this was AMAZING Comment from : User |
Its the exact way how me and my friends ride our bikes just instead of holding slightly tilted in the middle of the handle bar we prefer to to hold on the edgeTry sometime highly recommended 😊 Comment from : smallspendernits |
Well, that's what everybody learns in a normal moto school Especially enduro riders Good posture is almost everything! It's your safety! Comment from : HQ |

Amazing,brI've been doing it all wrong since 1974, over one million miles in the saddle, including a good few laps of the Isle of Man TT course, some falls, no broken bones and still riding at 67brYou learn something every day! Comment from : J J Power |
damn i figured this on my own that also means this is natural and organically correct way to ride Comment from : fREAK |
Ending funny Comment from : Boy Cottchina |
When i think of my own throttle hand position, I find that I'm already doing what you say most riders don't and I also find that everyone I ride with does this too so who's riding with the "homo erectus" grip you mention? Most riders will find the caveman grip too uncomfortable for any length of time so will revert to a lighter, more compliant grip naturaly without having to be taught what they already do! Comment from : roythearcher |
yo, you're funny as hell Comment from : John Doyle |
So, I've been holding my ice cream cone wrong all this time with my big ape fists? Comment from : Andrew Lindh |
Learning so much from this channel Always entertaining as well Comment from : Mikael Lewis |

"We all got to have breakfast anyway" Classic Comment from : Thomas Copeland |

bbbrrraaaapppp!!!!! Comment from : codenamedav |
It's good for your average crotch rocket when you are leaning on the tank, not for your naked when you hold your handlebars with your elbows virtually straight Comment from : Lech Taczka |
