I really enjoy Walter Isaacson’s work He adds a ton to the world The problem I worry about is he is committed to writing something entertaining, not necessarily what’s objective So his writing, like many from fellow journalists, tend to overstate the importance of interesting-looking things and understate the boring explanations That’s OK It’s not dishonesty, it’s just how the world works But it would be wise for younger readers to be aware of this bias and make sure they understand journalism is not history and not science, so take it with a grain of salt Comment from : OopsKapootz |

I am afraid to point out that the interpretation of Einsteins childhood is probably wrong After the foundation of the German empire 1871 till the 1920s most of the German jews were well integrated in the German society The social status of German Jews at that time was similiar to the status of the Jews in the US todaybrActually, Germany was maybe the least antisemitic nation in Western/Central Europe at that time The German jews were the fraction of the German society with the highest ratio of war volunteers in WWI Things became bad for the Jews in Germany after 1918 and the struggles in the 1920s, when Einstein was a allready a well established scientist Comment from : Gambini |
Key takeaways ( in progress ) :brbr1 The point is not how not to get scarred in life since it's inevitable; the point is how to deal with it once you get scarredbrbr2 A lot of driven people are driven because they are trying to harness the demons of their childhood The risky, adventurous spirit of Elon may be attributed to these demons brbr3 Barack Obama's saying: " Every son is trying to live up to the expectations of his father or live down the sins of his father" Comment from : Deba |
I used to never notice that someone has Autism or other neurological diffences, it is just because people have constantly pointed it out to me that I have become aware I did not need to be aware I still don't And it is fucking counterproductive to have become self aware, I stresses about how I appear to other people and that never even was a problem before I have gotten good jobs before I were aware of how I looks like! Now I only have anguish about it and can't function anymore Comment from : Savages Are The Best! |
If you don't fire people from a position that they are bad for, you really does everyone a dissatifisory But a really good person will recognize what position they are good at and transfer their their employees to a better position I have had a few employers that have recognized that I could fill another position so much better and I am really grateful for this that they have recognized skills in me that I even was not aware of! Comment from : Savages Are The Best! |
Elon has Classic Asperger’s As did Einstein and Jobs It is hereditary, parents have it too Asperger’s has many gifts and deficits The US space industry has done little in developing spacecraft since the 70’s Elon will take it to the next level Comment from : Fritz Guth |

I love Isaacson but calling ETHZ (Polytech Zurich as he calls it) the second best school in Zurich is just being misinformed Ethz is ranked top 10 globally across all rankings (Qs, THE) and by far the best university in Zurich, in Switzerland and the second best in Europe after oxford in 2024 I am surprised Comment from : Oğuz Kaan Gürsoy |

The world needs both kinds of people—the crazy, often-ruthless Musks, and the velvet-glove-wearing Isaacsons Perhaps Isaacson can’t send rockets into space, but Musk could never muster the empathy to tell stories about people at Isaacson’s exceptionally-skilled, insightful level Fantastic interview Comment from : Evolution Metal Studio |

Walter was great but I forgot what an Elon bag licker Lex is 🤢 its SO over the top Walter is totally fair in his representation even though I get the sense he's a leftist since he ran CNN and mentioned the difficulty in creating social media companies but only mentioned the leftist ones but even the slightest criticism or any comment he makes that isnt completely worshipping Elon causes Lex to have to come back with an excuse or a dismissal of Walter's point Was a very hard watch and reminded me why I muted this guy on twitter The hero worship is cultish like some Trump followers and I actually like both Trump and Musk Comment from : mera8785 |
