I followed the steps but my render is blank :( I'm recently returning to Blender so I'm not sure what the problem is I can see the height data rendered in the camera view perfectly but the render tab shows nothing What would cause this? I don't understand why a PNG file set to no compression and 16 bit is not sufficient for storing a height map 16 bits gives you 65K shades of gray from black to white Can someone explain why that is insufficient? thx Comment from : TruthSurge |

I don’t see anyone mention this in the top comments Basing this displacement on the camera’s view of the model is not ideal and will only give satisfactory results for very specific use case, right? Like basically using this sculpted pattern as a stamp on geo brWhat if I wanted to create a displacement map for a human head that needed displacement for both nose and ears? I did all the steps almost the same as you, except I want to render a 1024^2 terrain I pushed my camera's z-coordinate higher and higher and higher and felt bad that I couldn't see mucht detail in the viewport anymore while still not even half the terrain was covered in the scree-space, until I realized that I am a complete idiot It's about the resolution of the render (2048^2)brThanks anyways, great tutorial 🙏🙏🙏🙏 Comment from : surferriness |
