Thanx for articulating what I've been feeling for the last 20 years Sometimes, anticipating a return is a way to gauge just what effect giving is having on someone In which case you are being mindful of if they're giving back Giving and investing are, effectively, the same thing It's when you EXPECT to get something back, and it doesn't happen, that you get disappointed Comment from : Floyd Daniels |

My last relationship was an investment A bad investment of almost seven years wastedbrbrI did learn though that I did not like having to give so much for just frustration, arguments and abuse in return It went from investing because good partners help out their partner and he needed a lot of support to simply cashing enough tokens to avoid another lecture/argument I was miserable and decided I couldn't do it anymore so leftbrbrThis time around I focused on a partner who understands boundaries and respect Our relationship is 100 give give We both do things for each other and our lives It's not forced or coerced It most definitely isn't for some kind of future pay-off It's because we want to, and honestly there is a level of joy found in doing something out of love for a person brbrI do sometimes catch myself feeling a little guilty when my partner is cleaning up around the house and I'm not helping I remind myself he is happy to do that, I also do clean up too but often at different times to him I'm resting in this moment, but I do give in otherwaysbrbrAnd he too feels the same way It feels bizarre when I feel like I may have been the lazy one and he feels like he isbrbrThis guilt is perhaps something picked up from childhood It's not wanting to burden others This I belive is what lead to the trap of the investment relationship Or perhaps it was the investment relationship that had trained me into believing I needed to give as much as I can beyond what was reasonable otherwise I'm not worthy to be loved brbrFor anyone who feels similar it's important to learn to let go of that guilt It is not doing you any favours to get stuck in a cycle of giving beyond your capacity It is ok for others to do things for you without any expectations or fine print Someone choosing to help you out simply because they want to is a normal part of healthy relationship And giving within your capacity is also healthy It should feel good to help, not feel like it's an obligation you must live up to And it should never be you give everything to the point if exhaustion and the other person ignoring your wants and needs Comment from : Ksara |

One of the greatest lessons one can learn is to except that this feeling we call love is blind The best scale for Knowing is consistent respect and support All these terms empathy/ narcissist We all have these some more than others It's best to get healthy before getting involved intimately I'm giving my wisdom It's actually good to lose in investment mode at least once Bought lesson Comment from : MacknificentTV McGee |
