I think this video and the previous one have helped me put words to what I like about minimalism in a far more concrete way and the detail that you describe your experience in is helping so much with defining the one I want Thank you for this video (and several others) on this topic It's been making this week a great one Comment from : @synxiec |
You're an inspiration!❤ Comment from : @joywhitley3141 |
Both of these minimalist wardrobe videos resonate with me It's such a pleasure to wear clothes I love (and that love me) repeatedly, giving me a sense of personal satisfaction with my choices I found that the only items I purchased for fall 2023 were a sweater and a new pair of boots to replace a worn pair Cutting down to only the clothes we love helps us develop our personal style, thus, the new boots are very, very similar to the old ones Comment from : @gailzaranek6958 |

One interesting related issue to changing your style and palette is how you makeup might need to morph A really plain monochromatic) ensemble might need a more dramatic eye or lip color, for example And the cherry reds in your palette are crying out for a cherry lipstain Comment from : @ravent3016 |

i've been watching Hannah's videos for a couple of years now as they were popping in my suggestions And i loved them and i remembered Hannah over time But i realised i wasnt subscribed as she says it's more of a make-up focused channel and im not into the topic How delighted i was to find soooo many videos around the topic of minimalism and mindful consumption on the channel when i checked Definitely not a make-up channel for me A subscriber now <3 Comment from : @varvarakuznetsova3730 |

Hello Hannah I look forward to your videos everyday and since I am new to your channel, I have quite a bit of catching up to do I'm perusing your comment section and second everything I'm seeing so far I enjoy the way you analyze, and think through purchases, choosing your clothes, and creating your outfits I had an "aha moment" during your video on the fantasy you vs reality, and another one with your video on how to get dress, superbly done I have always matched my wardrobe to my current lifestyle Unfortunately my current closet is 99 athleisure wear I'm retired Lol Comment from : @twannapermenter8229 |
This is interesting Because I do sell my clothes, and I put those clothes into storage bins The a few months later - I find myself looking for them, and I do feel like they are brand new again :) Comment from : @allezshazam |
I have never related so much to someone I have funky print pieces that I LOVE but I simply don’t want to wear this year as I am in my neutral girl/earthy tones era I don’t want to let go of them but I also don’t want to SEE them I guess what I am saying is I need to pack them away and see how I feel rediscovering them next year Or, who knows maybe in the summer I’ll want to pull something out 😊 brI feel like I’ve been given permission to do so 😅 thanks so much! Now to find a place to hide them lol Comment from : @yazzybananas3106 |
So brilliant! Comment from : @victoriaj1908 |
The point on items not getting much use is very relevant sometimes, since my job is manual labour I keep work clothes separate from normal clothes but I don’t go out much and basically only wear loungewear I’m sure I went a year never repeating items and kept feeling guilty for buying new things even though I wear the new items immediately after purchasing them and specially curate my pieces, I do repeat some things because I don’t have much in the category(like I’m sure I own like 7 pairs of shoes) but it does feel bad not getting to wear an item you’re really excited about more than once the year you bought it Comment from : @lovelasnow3754 |
How articulate you are with a great vocabulary 😊refreshing Comment from : @robincaruso9809 |
What eye shadow are you wearing? Thanks so much for the fantastic videos! Comment from : @madeleinebonn9056 |
Such a good explanation ❤! Comment from : @debbiesivertson817 |
I wish I knew myself as well as Hannah knows herself! She really knows what she likes and what she wants vs needs She also allows that to change over time without getting too trapped by trend cycles Comment from : @jcp1240 |
comfortable & chic is my ideal style I think I'm going to try hang my clothes because most of what I wear daily is in a drawer You are giving me all kinds of inspiration Comment from : @reilife121 |
I’ve had a very similar experience It started with me Marie Kondo’ing my whole house (as so many of us did and I still do a mini version of it every year) which of course included my wardrobe I didn’t realize just how bloated it was with pieces that were literally of no use to me on any level It resulted in me having a minimalist wardrobe, both aesthetically and numerically 😆 It was totally accidental And same thing happened to me I fell in love with it My closet looked like a boutique There was space to group things by category and colour with room for each item to breathe which made the whole space inviting and inspiring Anyhow … ya I have found that now when I decide I want to add a piece to my wardrobe, I’m looking at details much more intensely than ever before What kind of cuff? Collar? Buttons? Fabric? Cut? Etc all the details matter and they have to suit me perfectly or I don’t buy it You just lose the ability to tolerate things you don’t absolutely love and what you absolutely love becomes more and more refined It’s an interesting, very organic transformation I still love some maximalism in my life, but it’s much much more curated now Comment from : @northwoodfalls1403 |
The feeling is a bit like when I take out my Christmas decorations, I think, "I'm so glad to see you I've missed you" Xoxo Comment from : @tinajoneswilliams4253 |
Great 2 part video - you are very thoughtful and insightful These videos have really inspired me Comment from : @rebeccadippyegg |
Could you do a video on thrifting/how to shop for higher quality items? I feel like I struggle with identifying what that looks like and to be totally honest I hate shopping, so higher quality means both things that last and that I can shop less Comment from : @Freckleducky |
❤❤ Comment from : @cindicleee |

so great Comment from : @ShoppingwithRina |
As a person on the spectrum, I always had trouble with too many colors, especially clashing colors I love wearing the same color in different shades, again drawing attention to the textures I do this in my garden and home, too It's too funny that it's now part of this minimalism thing! :D Comment from : @anieth |
I do a banish every season Nothing like revisiting your banished wardrobe and feeling inspired again! Comment from : @franceshanna3724 |
Gosh Hannah, I just find you so likable and I love the cadence of your voice 😎 Comment from : @raynacoletta2273 |
I've loved watching your minimalist experiment! Looking forward to seeing if you continue adopting a minimalist aesthetic when organising your summer wardrobe ☀ Comment from : @SarahV-se2db |
Does anyone know what eye shadow and lip gloss Hannah is wearing?? Comment from : @shanamarie2183 |
My favorite minimal tee is a solid black tee that I thrifted It doesn't have any tags or labels, not even a size It feels like maybe a cotton bamboo blend? I love it and would actually like to buy more but it's not really possible lol I bought some other black tee last year to supplement my wardrobe and it's just not the same 😂brbrSo I agree it's generally easier to say no to buying things if you already have one, but also it's easier for me to say no to things if I can't see it matching the rest of my clothes and making it easy to create outfits If the color doesn't look like a good fit, I can say no to it I have a lot of fun printed skirts and I wear them with a solid top, but when I get a new piece I try to think about what color tops I would wear with it and how it fits in with my style Comment from : @moldypotatochip |
Love you fashion content Currently experiencing “forced minimalism” thankfully the concept appeals to me so trying to use it as an opportunity for growth Comment from : @rebekahgonzalez1103 |
Another inspiring video! I’m actually considering aesthetic minimalism for my wardrobe… 🎉 Comment from : @PamperedWife |
That’s fascinating! In Montessori parenting the same method is applied: Toys are at eye level to the children, and everything is out kind of decoratively, so it’s easy for them to put away themselves, unlike “out of sight out of mind” toy bin dumping, whatever is out gets rotated so it remains minimalistic and simplistic, but remains interesting due to the rotation aspect :) Comment from : @cabbagecrosby1993 |
Thank you for the update!! Comment from : @leasmith4890 |
Love the idea of a low-pressure, instinctive closet culling Going to try it this weekend! Thanks, Hannah😉 Comment from : @lizbethdane |
Loved that video! So fun you discovered minimalism for yourself I think it is all about having inner peace 🤍 Comment from : @Nicole_Riviere |
🌞your journey has inspired me so much🔥🔥🔥 Comment from : @chriscampbell8948 |
Everything you said about your minimalist closet experiment really resonated with me! I’ve had many of the very same thoughts and have been doing the same things😊 Comment from : @kimberlytucker3517 |
I really love your videos on this topic I mean I love all your videos, but this topic really stimulates my brain in an exciting way Comment from : @jenessastrickland1555 |
I always feel like the problem with aesthetic minimalism in clothing is that one has to be so polished A boldly patterned dress that has a little creasing or cat hair still looks amazing, but a white t shirt with a crease and one hair on - terrible! Comment from : @aliceinwonderland5070 |
I found your channel because of your minimalist wardrobe experiment I look forward to hearing more about it as time goes on Comment from : @wzrdreams |
This is very helpful, thank you Comment from : @beautybycolour |
omg omg omgI think I've seen that green and white rug on Etsy and considered ordering itdid you have it made in Marocco? I ended up ordering a similar white and blue runner that is bound to arrive any week now and I'm very excited Comment from : @ratioetscientia |
Thank you so much for creating these types of videos Comment from : @amyberg1044 |
I noticed that I was buying lots of nail polish that just was slightly different from other nail polish I own, which makes picking a polish to use more difficult Comment from : @elsa_g |
8:06 reminds me of how parents will sometimes just rotate in and out toys for their kids instead of buying new ones, to create a sense of newness and excitement without ending up with a pile of unused toys Comment from : @elsa_g |
Thank you! So enjoyable to hear you talk about personalizing minimalism Banishing items for a while and bringing them back sounds fun--it reminds me of doing that with our children's toys They liked the "refreshing" Comment from : @JamieGoffena |
The idea that minimalism means everything all white or neutral is odd to me Minimalism isn’t about a specific aesthetic or colour palette, it’s about owning less stuff and getting rid of the excess that doesn’t serve you As to a more minimal and streamline closet, I find becoming a mom helped streamline a lot I have not the time or energy to fumble through a whole packed closet everyday I still have clothes I love, but I have less, and they are also practical and comfortable Comment from : @Amy-fk5we |
perfect Comment from : @dagnolia6004 |
Omg HannahbrIf you've never heard of a channel called Stylelikeu, please go check them out Also I'd love to see you featured in one of their interviews Comment from : @taj6090 |

I looooovvvveeee your videos! I love your weirdness Comment from : @elsacouto209 |
What a great idea! Thank you Comment from : @susannedotsch6901 |
The drama can also be about the juxtaposition of the item and the environment So, combat boots at the ballet Red lipstick in a monochrome setting or on a monochromatic wardrobe The pitted stone fireplace in a sleek modern living room Comment from : @LapisLazuli155 |
I’ve realized that I’m strongly enticed by the possibility of finding the “optimal version” Even if I have a version that works and I enjoy, I wonder if there’s a perfect version out there It makes it hard to stick with what I have How do you combat this? Comment from : @Brego100 |
Love love love your style videos, always provoke thought and a bit of wonder 💡✨ Comment from : @emmelinesprig489 |
Love you HannahbrVery pleased every time I viewbrYour on your way to spectacularism Comment from : @GlamBoss111 |
Hi Hannah! I am curious if you have had your colors done--I am talking about the seasonal color system that finds the season that works best with all of your coloring? As well, do you know your Kibbe body type?brbrFor me, having those 2 pieces of information has really helped with streamlining my dressing, and with reducing shopping I am a Light Spring color season, and a Kibbe body type of Flamboyant Gamine While I am still learning how to best shop for both of those, knowing that I fall into these categories does help with how I shop and how much I purchase Comment from : @katibarrett8779 |
THANK YOU!! love your thoughtful insight! Comment from : @deedub4954 |

I subscribed to see your update on your wardrobe journey, so yay! Thanks for sharing! Comment from : @SilviaN1 |

Would love to see spring 23 trends from the minimalist wardrobe Comment from : @sdbolen3414 |
I don’t have any style outside of “simple, practical, confortable/oversized” but I enjoy your fashion content a lot I make my own (simple) clothes and am interested in fashion history, but all too often people talking about contemporary fashion/clothes are in a very maximalist mindset, or their aesthetic doesn’t attract me Your channel is a gem 💚 Comment from : @saulemaroussault6343 |
It was really interesting hearing you say about the joy of finding a piece again that you had put away because it made me think of toy rotation 🙂 I rotate my toddler's toys, keep most in the garage and just bring a few out each week and put last week's back in the garage That way he never gets bored, he's always pleased to see one of his toys back again It's a common thing to do and works really well What you described sounded like wardrobe rotation 🙂 Comment from : @staceyhookins3433 |
I tend to dress more aesthetically minimal in the cold seasons, cause all the layering makes it so that you have to wear a lot of pieces at once and they somehow need to go together Plus, warm clothing tends to be a lot more expensive and you will want to keep it for longer and for it to be more timeless, like your 2-3 wool and down coats or my one cashmere scarf When it's hot it's much easier to just throw on a dress and call it a look, and for that I do still love color and pattern! But also need an all black and all white dress for the summer ;) I hope you're still gonna like and wear your dresses and feel refreshed by their whimsy instead of annoyed with their business I find I can very much appreciate the two different characters of the cold and warm seasons that come out :) Comment from : @arlefin |
Hannah, I love your fashion posts and discoveries Would love to hear more of your thoughts and journey Comment from : @annethompson1666 |

More wardrobe videos please Lots of useful and practical ideas, and not the usual bloggers 10 item wardrobe! I also 'archive' colours, prints, shapes and out of fashion or season items and occasion wear, to leave my everyday wardrobe more relevant Although I have black ivory navy and tan as neutrals the focus is green and aqua as these suit me If I feel like red one day I can 'shop' my archive Comment from : @lynnfox8376 |
I love your closet minimalism videos 💯 Comment from : @metaljane666 |
love that this is about things you love I have a pair of dark red dress pants that I often wear with a pink blazer and lots of people think this is very bold but the pants are so comfy and the jacket is so cute that I just feel put together in that outfit So many people say no red work wear but I love it! Comment from : @laurasomeofthesethoughtsar5811 |
I have found myself going in the opposite direction As I explore my no buy year, I find myself leaning into color, and print, shape, form In my clothes and my home I felt an ache for maxing out color in at least one piece of every outfit A friend mentioned that since I am at the end of over a decade of a health crises, that I crave things that may scream a bit, I AM ALIVE! My minimalist daughter is having fits trying to rein me in lol! 💥🌟💥 Comment from : @karmaleenash2841 |
yes! i especially love the comment on retaining pieces that simply bring joy, though may not be oft used i feel this way about an heirloom kimono i have hanging in my closet, which sparks joy each time my eyes stumble upon it ✨ Comment from : @emo333vampire |

♥ Comment from : @redolentkate |
Yesss the video I've been waiting for! You've taught me to really pay attention to fabrics and now I look for linen, cotton, wool, alpaca and truly can tell the difference in how I feel wearing natural fabrics ❤️❤️❤️ I've also gravitated towards neutrals, but snagged a few items from the print fresh sale using your code-a Bagheera blush shower curtain and weekend tote bag for work Sooo impressed with their quality!! Comment from : @catxo694 |
Love your fashion content… more please! Comment from : @elekay312 |
I am also on a capsule wardrobe journey and I get attached to clothes easily so I started slow by choosing 5 colors I stored away everything that wasnt those colors and I am much happier I feel like I know what to wear and how to style it and none of that feels forced Gaining back time and mental energy is a win That being said I too have no clue what to expect from the soon approaching sundress season I will be tuned in to what you learn about yourself ❤🎉 Comment from : @Keriedawayy |
I find myself acquiring clothing that goes with my favorite makeup looks, instead of the other way around But I buy quality stuff I usually don't get tired of I stain lots of things, so I shop a bit Comment from : @MyCleverHandle |
Thank you for your fashion videos I subscribed for your stripped down consumerism of beauty products, but really enjoy the perspective on clothing as well Comment from : @racheltull8112 |
