Pro tip…don’t change to Hps until week 3 of flower This reduces the “stretch “ big time Comment from : Paul |

Isn't the only heat savings with led when you use less watt IE replace a 600hps with a 400w led because a watt always gives off the same btu? Comment from : C L |

LED ok for Veg Metal Halide Best for VegbrHPS Best for flowering and yield size That is all you need to know Comment from : Backup in the Day |
Update: After 2 years with top of the line LEDS (LUMATEK 600w pro) and regular double ended CMHs (Solux 630w LEC) I can state the following;brbr1 LEDS are great for indoor growing during the summerbr2 The yield is about the same with both lights without C02br3 LEDS with C02 do produce about 15 more than CMH with C02 br4 Larger nugs with CMH and harder nugs with LEDS Too hard for my liking br5 For newbies or growers with low ceilings I would recommend CMH, its easier to manage light distance, burnt leaves are a real issue with powerfull ledsbr6 The low far RED in LED means I need to give the clones 3-5 days of veg compared to the 0-1 days of CMH br7 I use about 20 higher EC values with LEDs brbrSame tent size, (4x4) (1,20x,120) same clones, and pretty much the same conditionsbrbrGrower since 1997 Comment from : Salo Vila |

I'm pretty sure 600 watts of HPS will grow more than 241 watts of LED I've used both Also, excess heat should be evaluated in any comparison Led will always win thermal radiation In the south, HID requires air conditioning which is not cheap Comment from : Angelina 32310 |
iv been upgrading from HPS to LED in my smaller areas and tents i have replaced 3 600 watt air cooled with LED so far but my 5x5 flowering tent using 1000 watt HPS is the challenge to replace with LED the energy savings in light watt draw in the 5x5 is minimal but i will save a lot of power draw because i will not require the 4 ton a/c unit to run wide open to cool the grow room the 2 five by five flowering tents are in so far i have replACED 400 AND 600 WATT AIR COOLED HOOD HPS WITH MARS HYDRO SP300 X2 IN EACH 4X4 TENT and just bought 2 GROW LIGHT SCIENCE GROW 300 on black Friday sale to replace the last 600 watt in 4x4 and have 1 MF 2000 in each of my 2 x4 propagation tents ,, do you have a mid price range LED recommendation to replace the 1000 watt HPS in the two five by five flower tents Comment from : Darcy Potter Potter |

How come nobody does a PPFD reading with a grid pattern with the HID? its all about the parabolic arc and using crosslight!? Comment from : TRD Pro Disobey |
Percentages are always confusing to me as I'm not sure they are about energy flux or photon flux although they can be almost the same numbers in many cases but they are not the same things and can be different numbers depending on spectrum Comment from : Mim Nun |
@MIGRO hey i was wondering if using the cmh with a actual 315w ballast would give it better efficiency ??? Or you think it would still be some what similar? ALSO ANY INFO ON double ended cmh seems like they came out few years back but didn’t get very popular? Would really really appreciate any help thank you for your videos!! Honestly if I could afford it I’d get lights of your site just to support migro (and obviously they seem to be great lights as well just out of my budget for now) Comment from : ROOKIExREVIEWS |

Growing autos I think I would benefit from using hps the entire grow to get some structural stretch Comment from : Tater Tot |

Would you elaborate on the humidity issue people will face while using solely LED lights ? Comment from : Andrius Kazlauskas |
Can you talk about btu's/ heat output? Do all the 600 watt class leds essentially put out the same amount of heat dictated by watts consumed? Compare the heat from a 600 class led to a 600 watt hps same heat? 630 watt cmh same as well? Comment from : Ryan |
Thanks for your wisdom & knowledge professor much appreciated Comment from : Brian Hawkins |

Hi my friend Very nice and interesting chanel I buy a lec lamp "Solux Parxtrem 600w 3100k" and my sorprise is that when i checked with par meter is a lot of less PPFD than the HPS Same distance, same place, same ballast, same moment, just changing the lamps I put the PAR meter "LightScout quantum par meter" and the HPS give me 1000ppfd and the lec lamp Solux Parxtrem 600w give me 580ppfd Is that normal???? I understant that is not normal, thats looks like this lec lamp solux parxtrem have the half efficienci umol/watt than the HPSbrbrThanks a lot my friend!!! Comment from : ivan garcia |

Can you put a light cage under each one of those just slide it across the table I had to take my tomatoes out of the LED and put it in the sunlight Through the Windows and it still buried the gauge with the sunlight Comment from : Robert Threm |
If it says it's a 600-watt I don't think that means thats what you're using that's only the bulb what about the Transformer I'm not sure Comment from : Robert Threm |
Ive used high end led Sk600 400 and 600 watt MH and HPS 315 and 400 watt CMH and none are as good as the CMH bulbs The 400s have no problem doing 4X4 and run cooler than MH and HPS over the last 3 years Comment from : jeffrey wolf |

but you cant use the ceramic hps with a digi balast? only old magnetic? does it get hotter? My old magnetic balasts sure do make the bulbs hotter! Comment from : Stuart |

The spectrum of the sun changes with the seasons The overhead summer sun shines more whitish-yellow and the Autumn sun coming in at such an angle has to cut through a much thicker layer of atmosphere, making it appear more reddish-orange But there is not a set spectrum for the sun in every season (from planet Earth's perspective) So you can not say "The sun's spectrum on the left" without accounting for seasons The same reason sunsets/rises are red-orange Comment from : Saint Michael |
This i cool ive used an 250w hps in a cooltube before in a secret jardin lodge with their 5000k double 55w t5 panel perfekt little system small atleast but went to hot during summer so i built a cfl panel instead for flower chamber it worked fine at the end and gave some fine yields with hydro Still im deadly curious on LED ramps ! your aray system is something im lookin at the smaller ones 270w i think for growing tomatoes and jalapenos and potatobuckets perhaps il need an larger one ? Im hoping that il find a tomato grow with your arraypanel to look at in before hand Good work Shane ! / Paul Roger north sweden Comment from : Paul Roger Nilsson |
I just need to clarify this, if you would mind helpingbrIs it a Lumatek ballast that is digital that you run the CMH HPS off of ? brbrThere is this website that sells CMH HPS maxibright 600 Watt, but in the very end it says "Do not use these lamps with digital ballasts - only magnetic"brbrIs this true ? brbrOr is it useable for a more advanced HPS ballast that is digital, GIB Lighting LXG 600w with integrated timer and remote brbrIt would be a shame if not Comment from : Benjamin Nielsen |
LEDS were the future and CMH was the reality "BUT Leds dont heat up" If I didnt need heat I would be growing outdoors! brbrI´ve seen setups with leds and heaters So sad Comment from : Salo Vila |

you put a 1000 watt 145,000 lumen EYE Hortilux super HPS in a 5x5 tent it better be a tall tent because with a parabolic shade and the bulb in the vertical position you will get well over 1000 ppfd average with the light 30 inches above the canopybrany old school magnetic ballast will ignite the ceramic HPS that Hortilux makes and wow is it red Comment from : Torrie Landsman |
I know you're busy but if you get a chance to get back to me is there a way to tell which bulbs are pd and are not worth keeping as you know we accumulate a few by!he but can waste a lot of time if they're useless Comment from : pfitzsimmons008 |
Just a quick question I have 6oow 400v digital ballasts will ceramic hps bulbs work in those ballasts I was unaware when I bought them you had different bulbs to go in them thanks for keeping everyone updated on these lighting systems everyone seems to want to pay out for the very expensive led lights when there isn't much difference in the bps Comment from : pfitzsimmons008 |
Thank you much! Love the information brought through your research Comment from : Mr Binks |

Great video Hoodie looks clean 🤙 Comment from : Chris Clyde |

'Stretch' is not a bad thing when utilizing HPS bulbs I depend on internodal 'stretch' to open the plant canopy so the light can more easily hit the objective bud sites 'Stretch' increases maturation and yield by opening the canopy Versus tighter internodal spacing impedes light penetration into the plant canopy which dramatically reduces maturation and yield Comment from : Gerald West |
You didn't include periodic bulb replacements in your cost analysis, did you? That would push things further in LEDs favor Comment from : Munch517 |
