Interesting I always found minimalism interesting, and more an ideal that I would never reach (and never try to reach) But there were some lessons I should've followed I still think it is a valuable ideal we should keep in the back of our heads, but not necessarily actually implement in its extreme Comment from : Christian Augustin |

The modern idea of minimalism is based on a conscious choice supported by financial stability that enables you to replace the item at any time should you need it again Which means its target audience is mostly upper middle class who has a clean, simple living room with a cosy sofa which just happens to be a designer piece with an insane pricetag and a floor lamp that's far beyond the reach of people who live in a minimalist lifestyle because they can't afford to accumulate belongings in the first place That's why antiques are good quality, people couldn't throw money on new things when they felt like it Comment from : Električna kornjača |

Minimalism hasn’t died for those true minimalists It wasn’t a fashion trend It’s a way of life I just never think about buying anything brI feel physically sick when I see houses full of “stuff” Comment from : Le Pub Pattaya |

I don’t believe Minimalism is dead I think Minimalism is cyclical, periodically we get that sense that we need to minimise again, and pare down our belongings again, because it’s so easy for us to fall into the trap of consumerism, buying ‘stuff’ and filling our homes with junk and things we don’t really need, again and again throughout our lives Minimalism comes in waves Minimalism isn’t dead, we just re-visit it at different stages of our lives, each time that we remember that we really don’t need much in life Comment from : Chris Gilling |

The problem with movements is that some people go way overboard with them and take them too far Everyone can be a minimalist in their own way Or just take the parts of minimalism that work for them and apply them and not go Gung ho crazy into it It has to make sense for your life It doesn't mean you failed or that the movement failed because everyone didn't get into minimalism like it's a cult and be extremely rigid with it 😊 Comment from : Kimberly Bone |

Minimalism: There just isn't enough of it More is the answer; yes more is always the answer More is the answer until the question is how to get more established in minimalism The loop tightens until the warp bubble collapses Comment from : Thomas Hughes |

I'm all for refraining from excess consumerism but why does a minimalist's clothing ALL have to be black, white, gray and earth tones? You can own three sweaters and still include one that's deep purple or bright green Clearly there's more going on in minimalism than concern for the environment There's a psychological domination and oppressiveness to it that would have ruined my mental health as a child if I'd had a mom who imposed minimalism on the family Even today as an adult I need aesthetically interesting environments, I need a home that feels alive, not dead Seeing minimalist videos with children in them, I can't help but think how stifling and selfish their parents are Comment from : EyeLean5280 |

I think minimalism is fine in moderation, I personally practice minimalism in my life to some extent Comment from : Waffles |

The Kardashians are a perfect example of the trend minimalism gone wrong Their lives seem minimalistic: with the empty white/beige interiors, limited colours in their wardrobe and make up, black cars and so on But they probably spend more than an entire group of the population on their lifestyle by owning too much of everything, travelling places all the time, having drastically overpriced parties Yet so many people look at them as role models for minimalism Comment from : Anne |

It’s still okay to be mindful and frugal Comment from : meursault1853 |

Minimalism is not about having less things , It is about having only things you love and use frequently If you look in your home today , there will be at least 20-30 things you would never use and when you need to find something , you have to go through these unnecessary things to find the one's you need Comment from : Pawan Kumar |

I've always seen Minimalism as something for people who can afford to buy things as they need it I also hate the aesthetic I'm a crafter and would like to see more organizational designs that incorporate things people use, and encourage them to use their things more often Comment from : Keturah Spencer |

I'm a minimalist and for me, living minimally doesn't mean you have to throw away everything you own I've always approached minimalism as a way to help me live more true to myself and be more intentional about the things I buy and bring into my space Minimalism is a lifestyle obscured by trends and social media but at the end of the day, it's your life You get to interpret what living minimally means to you, even if you have a massive collection of HotWheels that will never see the light of day Comment from : Touya |
