You have to look poverty and earnings in cultural context If you are earning 1$ a day in some village in Africa, but you come home and have party around fire and dancing with your people you can be more fullfiled and even dont think about your poverty, than earning 16$ per hour in some American McDonalds and come home being alone

I inadvertently became a minimalist after I left the army I had some turmoil going on upstairs and i was heading down a very dark path so I had to do something I sold literally everything I had, purchased a one way ticket to Australia and a backpack I spent years travelling from one place to the next, mostly working on the doors, staying in hostels and I only ever owned what my backpack could carry for obvious reasons Eventually I just got so used to it that by the time I settled down in Scotland, I purchased a mattress for the floor The look on peoples face when they came around and had to sit on the floor 😂😂

In terms of graphic design, "the void" is what a designer would call "white space" Text and illustrations need space around them in order be experienced and understood at their fullest So it is with our life experiences and possessions

I love that minimalism has no destination Many people think that minimalism is just reducing the stuff you have and keeping the items you can reuse and are of sentimental value(like you're very first pointe shoe or your very first guitar), but they don't think of social clutter, mental and emotional clutter Those matter too
