when you have a larger colony you should think about a pawn using an emp launcher to disable shields this can also be useful against mechanoids even when emp mortars tend to be more effective

one mention, the doors and walls too important stuff should never be flameable also a 2cell layer of concrete around fields can prevent giant firesthe half wall half barricade has the advantage that pawns behind walls cant get hit by straybullets that got prevented by smoke or covermultiplayers and also you get a 50/50 when your enemy uses rockets that it hits the wall instead of your colonists

You forgot to cover roof traps Once I have an idea for the preferred path raiders like to take, I set up a couple of cheap single wooden walls supporting a max size roof Once the raid starts one of three things happen: the breacher destroys the support, my guys intentionally shoot the support, or a pre-positioned IED next to the wall gets tripped and blows it up In all cases, the roof drops down on him and his friends The damage this does seems to have been nerfed a lot, but it still slows them down with some injuries for essentially zero resource investmentbrbrIt does leave a ton of rubble afterwards, so they're best placed outside the base perimeter, close enough that your guys can shoot the supports without leaving their defensive position

Love the video, recently got absolutely hooked on rimworld and never googled about defenses until now (i like to figure things like these out by myself, even if I'm bad at them, atleast for a while) and I never knew that if you just boxed your whole base, the enemy wouldn't destroy your walls but instead try to find whatever entrance they can! That's going to be super helpful for my defenses because for now I just had random cover scattered around with a turret next to itbrbrI do have a question though, I have a lot of farming zones which are kindof far away from my base because tons of rich soil and it would be impractical to wall them with the base itself What should I do?

I noticed one day if you put two or more doors (hold open) in row in a corridor you will slow who comes through I saw a vídeo about you can perform a melee attack through the walls without mods, just using open doors

I'm quite a new player with 80 hours in the game with 2nd attempt on 2nd easiest difficulty My issue with base defense guides is that they do not show progression from early to end game and they focus on bases of huge sizes I can't say which scenarios are realistic and which are not I can't imagine having 30 colonists with marine armor fighting against 100 insectoidsbrWhat surprised me that you seem to have only 5 colonists, you are playing for year and half and your base already seem to have uranium slug turret researched while your colonists use revolvers and not assault riffles, charged rifles or smgs That's the problem My base is three times older, I'm very near to running out of last bits of steel and I'm still trying find a balance between amount of animals, colonists and food production, colonists seem to be occupied by crop harvesting, producing (advanced) components and equipment, deep drilling while being distracted by raids and fires Problem is that I think my management was ok for first two years, but since I started with distant steel mining and deep drilling, having 10-15 animals (retrievers, huskies, horses, one trombo and megasloth) everything broke Animals are killed or wounded during raids, people who are leaving the base are being wounded all the time, I don't have large surplus of food any longer (so madhunting animals are welcome)brBut another problem is that people are working far from the base and they are super vulnerable to raids, mad animals etc Is there any solution for defending miners other than putting walls far from the city and deep drilling resources inside fortification to prevent people and animals traveling to unsafe areas and using perhaps 20 of map?brMy understanding of game is that is quite well balanced and everything seems to have some cons Like more colonists you have, larger are groups of attackers More animals you have for hauling, more food you need and one person gets fully occupied by taming them while other is cleaning mess around base and in storage room (now i got idea not to allow animals into home area which four squares from walls and using them to graze strips further to create somewhat fireproof areas)

One question generally enemies in the latest ai destroy walls or dig tunnels rather than going into kill boz how should ı deal with it
