guys for real You should focus more on and read sports science literature instead of watching videos likes this I'm not going to explain all the reasons but just like 1 simple thing about what he is misleading you, that you have to do explosive(power) exercises to build power If you would go more depthly into biomechanics, you might notice that strenght training - especially acentuating eccentric (negative) movements brings superior gains in power than power movements by themselves So to simplify all of this: No you don't have to do explosive pull-ups to learn muscles ups (of course you can include them into your training what isn't necessary) BUT Best way to learn muscle ups or any kind of new or hard movement and what you should focus on is negatives (eccentric movements) from the final phase of the movement slowly with the maximum efforts of control going downwards to the starting phase What you should focus on is: 3-10 seconds long descending motion 3-4sets x 3-5 repetitions, 3-5minutes rest between sets and progression would be building your descending time up to 10s for each rep theoretically and practically if the eccentric movement can be fully controlled for at least 10secs in each of 4 reps - you can do 1 full concentric movement your - What at this point is your muscle up Comment from : Rytis Ramanauskas |

The set up I’ve used to learn muscle ups is a mounted pull up in my room with gymnast rings Due to the lack of cracking height I was forced to learn with rings which meant no kipping After getting up to about 5 consecutive L sit ring muscle ups I was sure it would be a breeze to hit a bar muscle up Wrong There was a learning curve so I started going back to basics Came across this video that emphasized the timing aspect Hugely helpful I will definitely be practicing high pull ups now Great video Thanks for the help!
