I worked in Mental Health as a Registered Nurse and the best and most memorable training was a workshop entitled "Hearing Voices" It was facilitated by a professional who lives with Schizophrenia We wore a tape (yes it was a long time ago) So the voices were completely random and we had a list of Tasks to complete, like "Ask a stranger for directions, or go into a shop and make a purchase" simple activities but never knowing when the voices were going to come in!!!!! Was very difficult And I was very aware I didn't have the complications of side effects of meds or delusional,/paranoid thinking Was a small glimpse into what living with psychosis feels like Much respect and admiration from a retired Nurse Comment from : Maree Peters |
