Ryan
I can tell you exactly what autism is really like Sensory input needs to be tightly controlled and most of the time I can do this and compensate by myself Sometimes, I can't My brain is spounglike and mostly indiscriminately when it comes to sensory input I must exert control over this in order simply to function I doubt this is something everybody experiences I remember being a kid and being in agony because there was a certain sound present in my environment To this day, I struggle to tolerate noises that overwhelm me like that high pitch whistle high winds create when they blow in my ears or the sound that water makes when it goes through a plughole Now, there are stimuli I don't tolerate well, but I also find it real easy to ignore, or tune out these stimuli Learning to do this for people with ASD is really REALLY difficult and doesn't come naturally
Comment from : Ryan

mackle mo
when I work on a complex problem (I'm a software engineer), and I work well, say I'm in a flow state, I'm mostly internal, because ideas and solutions arise inside of my thoughts, but at the same time I bring them outside on the paper or in the code, so it's kind of an exchange it's really interesting, I'll be even more conscious about that now
Comment from : mackle mo

NYCST
I live in New York around constant noises People who want complete silence often times are people who live already in quiet environments New Yorkers tune out noises from trains, horns, shouting, to the point that they literally stop hearing it The human brain will quickly adjust to all different types of noises I feel very comfortable and relaxed hearing the sounds of the trains I feel restless and uneasy in quiet
Comment from : NYCST
