This poor mother has gone through so much I can tell she love her daughter to the moon and back As much love as any mother can give their daughter Feel bad that she watches her daughter suffer in pain years after years Hope she’s doing well

It is a very difficult choice to assist a love one to die but if the person is terminally ill and the situation is irreversible and the patient will just suffer, it would be best to let them go and give that person dignity before they die We also have to think- What quality of life the patient is living? If it is a life of pain and suffering, I don't think it's worth it

Vex nightmare
I hate how people always use the oh what if as the first thing to it when it's been working just fine and well in other countries, they act like they'll just go around killing people
Comment from : Vex nightmare

I have slowly progressing MS and left sided cardiac enlargement My decision will never be to deliberately end my life because I vehemently feel that killing myself would show my family and friends that I have no value for life and the relationships that sustain me

I just can't anymore with conservatives and also - in some cases - people with disabilites / severe diseases who are against the wishes of people and how they want to die / not suffer anymore I am glad that there is a change, even though it's slow And I am glad there are organizations like Dignitas
Comment from : J DMMG

Egregious and ludicrous We modern countries praise our laws protecting animals because we're supposedly oh so civilized Every veterinarian will tell you euthanasia is the compassionate choice to end the suffering of a terminally ill pet That if we choose to keep them alive we're prolonging the inevitable with nothing but suffering and that's selfish So we euthanize animals because it's compassionate, right? Yet if we have the exact same conversation and substitute pets with humans it's tantamount to murder! I'm completely flabbergasted by the hypocrisy, however I know I shouldn't be We "modern and civilized" countries have money hungry politicians making laws They tend to pick and choose selfishly regardless of facts It's almost always about some political agreement or ally situation that makes them money Money, money, money Smh I can't ignore the astronomical profits and income these hospitals, pharmacies, and medical suppliers are making off of a person that sick The financial benefits to keep a very sick and suffering person alive are enormous! A few more months or even a year of treatments, hospitals, specialists, medications, therapies, surgeries, etc are worth hundreds of thousands in profit!! Possibly even millions of dollars if they languish and suffer longer than a year! Holy crap! Now that's a real ton of profit to be made from a slower, more painful, agonizing death So while they create laws that benefit the entire "Pharma" industry and in return benefit them they're showing how disgusting the medical and political system are The financial exploitation in politics and medicine that's happening today by charging prices that aren't even feasible for most to pay It just says they are okay with blood on their hands They hold their families and kids with those same hands, smh How can they live with themselves and that blood money in their banks?!😢

These people who say no to dying with dignity Are healthy and don’t know the pain They will the day they have it I see it as… dragging out the pain is killing them So give people the choice Cause either way they’re dying

Sophiecjp
If my family signs a DNR are they not assisting in my death? The hospital asked my mother to this with my brother My brother did not make arrangements in his life if this should happen so My mother would not sign but He did die in the end These are conversation people should have before an event happens Her daughter had this conversation with her and was of sound mind This was the hardest most loving act a mother could do for their child I agree with her 100 I am happy in the end that she was spared the indignity of being branded a murderer We need to change the laws, just because medical science can save a life should it? Quality not quantity for me

Are we sure this isn't some form of munchaysen or poisoning? As far as the illness? She wasn't truthful on the injecting air question That's a pretty extreme act to do to someone and requires some medical knowledge

I have a cousin brother whose baby was born with multiple illnesses and even the doctors were advising him to euthanize him, looking at the suffering he was going through and there was no hope whatsoeverbrThe baby died this month after 25 years of nothing but constant suffering I don't know what my cousin achieved in these 25 years Even chickens receive more humane treatment in a slaughterhouse Making people undergo a horrible death forcefully is like 25 years of doing excruciatingly slow paced halal (slow writhing of neck) on a human

I am 100 for the right to die with dignity Here I in the USA only 9 states honor this right for a person with an illness that can't be helped I too want the right to die with dignity Living in constant pain is not good When you know your health is never going to Improve there comes a point when enough is enough I believe in quality of life not the quantity This poor daughter suffered for 17 long years Her mother did nothing wrong I am so glad her mother honored her wishes It was a painful decision for her mother But, letting her daughter pass on and to be relieved of all her suffering truly showed how much her mother loved her

My heart goes out to this family I wholeheartedly believe she acted rightfully, not maliciously and shouldn't be prosecuted Although it's not something I could ever imagine for myself, I support AS brMy uncle is in his last days He is 81 and had Lymphoma 3 times He is tired and said he will leave on his terms I had the chance to visit him 2 weeks ago and although they wouldn't really speak about it, his husband of 31 years has stated that they will leave this earth together brI'm writing this as a person considered critically ill the past 5 years I will be 48 soon, I was never able to have children and haven't been in a relationship for 5 years My divorced 72 year old mom and 75 year old dad came together to be my caregivers I have distanced myself from so many because in my selfish mind I feel it might be easier when my time comes brIt's crazy to see how she bought all those cute clothes to wear someday making up for the time lost I am guilty of buying so much in the past few years that I had to get a storage to put it in My mother is extremely angry for me doing this and honestly it didn't fully hit me until watching this that I'vebeen doing it for the same reasons

Kunal Sen
It can't be ruled out that caregiver's fatigue was a factor in the assisted suicide here I saw somewhat of a red flag when I heard that the mother kept sending the kid back to school three days in succession when she was clearly not well I don't know whether their situation or mindset permitted caring unto the natural end despite their good intentions It's not impossible that the suffering child read the room and precipitated or brought about the ultimate decision I hope I am wrong though RIP, Lynn!

When I was 18 I came down with severe Glandular Fever and was in a coma for 3 weeksafter struggling through life with confusion, memory loss and severe headaches, all diagnosed as ' just ME ', my medical notes reveal that I actually had Encephalitis, and through lack of treatment I now have an Acquired Brain Injury, which could have been prevented if correctly treated at the time Now, despite it being 38 years too late, the NHS Is finally pulling it's finger out to try and helpits definitely a case of shutting the door after the horse has bolted, and suicide has crossed my mind numerous timesI just live in hope now, blessings to this wonderful Mother and her beautiful daughter 😪

The most difficult thing to do is hold a family member that is dying It is difficult but out of love you hold your mother, father or child and comfort and pray for them You don't leave them You care for them like never beforebrEnding the life that is precious There is love

And BTW, fun fact, it takes a very large amount of air injected straight into a vein to cause a problem I mean A LOT, more than just a normal syringe full The old tale that an air bubble is going to kill you, or a little air in you IV line, is completely false
Comment from : Jenn H

As a hospice nurse in the US, this mother is a hero for how she helped her daughter She understands mercy Adults should have the right to choose not to suffer anymore, and if they need help, there should be compassionate options available In my state, we can withdraw all other treatment, including artificial nutrition and hydration, and allow a person to starve to death, but we can't do the human thing and help them leave this world peacefully and with dignity, if they so request It's a messed up way of thinking I've seen soany people die, and hospice is great at providing comfort, but sometimes hospice isn't good enough and sometimes people are ready to go now Bless this mother for her strength in caring for her daughter, in every way possiblebrAnd places like Belgium, Switzerland, and even states in the US that have right to die laws have already disproven the slippery slope arguments like the lawyer presents Euthanasia has not become rampant, there are lots of safeguards in place, and the individual has to have capacity to make the decision themselves, other cannot make that decision for them There is no slippery slope, it's a farce

I’m a mother who loves her children with all of my heart and soul,(as this mother and most all mothers) I’ve never had a serious medical condition or diagnosis that would be painfully fatal, but I’ve been in pain due to several types of injuries or instances in life that caused excruciating pain, mainly of the spine which compressed against spinal nerves leading to extremities ( Lower Spine, Cervical Spine, Thoracic Spine, and a benign meningioma motor cortex brain tumor) However, during most of the times/years while going through such painful situations, pain medications were prescribed during those times to at least make the pain tolerable so that I could continue to have some quality of life I had multiple surgeries for these diagnoses and situations which some did help, although there was still always some amount of constant pain, (just not as severe) However?when the “War On Opioids Act” was put into place and doctors were being restricted from writing prescriptions for pain,or at least very limited, because the doctors were put in fear of losing their license to practice,…it caused “mass inhumane pain suffering among many chronic pain patients!!! Humans should not be made to suffer in situations of pain,no matter what the case! I can’t even imagine being a mother who had to watch their child suffer in pain!!! I know that I wouldn’t be able to bear it at all This mother was a very compassionate and brave mother to help her child end the painful suffering she was having to endure It has to be the most difficult thing to do,but it’s out of pure love and selflessness, which I can totally understand 💔
Comment from : Janet Spell

The biggest issue with this is the govt has no place in something like this Period If you are a parent you know a mothers love knows no bounds and this was probably the hardest most difficult decision this mom ever had to consider let along make Let’s take it easy on her She lost her child ffs

I don’t know what I would do If I was in her shoes But I do sympathize with her because I’m a mother I’ve done things for my son years ago That probably shouldn’t have To keep him from getting in trouble etc so unless your a mother You don’t know how they feel

This mother did what she felt was right for her child, Her child was suffering she was telling people she was ready to go she was going through so much pain, her mother listened her mother made a choice to help her child die with dignity this would of been heartbreaking for the mother but she couldn't watch her child suffer any longer so she helped her, the world needs to take a long hard look at people who are suffering and make it law to help die with dignity

It’s seems barbaric that in this day and age we don’t have an out for ppl in their right mind with severe Illness or otherwise to make this choice it seems more cruel to force someone to live a life they are so unhappy in and this goes w saying these are things that can’t be changed or made better, a last resort is suicide

My dad died a horrific death, an aggressive incurable tumour on the thyroid that slowly suffocated him to death He chose to die at home, but by nature of the slow suffocation his mind and body was still fairly intact and he was completely aware As a family we had to stand by and watch him suffer as the community nurses (who were amazing) attempted to sedate him to the best of their ability within the law, but his suffering and fear was too strong and he couldn’t be sedated at home It was truly horrific I am now afraid to die after seeing my father pass (I have seen many people pass away, family members and patients etc, none as aware and cruel as this) Our country needs to realise that it’s not just a black and white or open and closed case, it’s dignity and love My dad was too ill to fly to Switzerland to acess dignitas assisted suicide once he was diagnosed, the cancer was too aggressive and fast We watched him suffocate while being fully aware and we could do nothing to help It’s a cruel world and our laws are backwards If I allowed my cat to continue in that sort of way I would be convicted of animal abuse for not getting her euthanized
