Heres what I do in my colony I always reserve an area that can fit about 20-25 mortars I commonly start with 5 and build it up every time I get a siege i just shell them before their ready Once i start getting into the mid 20's a single shot from all my mortors is sufficient to kill enough raiders that they just immidately retreat Anyway thats just me but you guys do you

even better plan: use a psycaster that has invisibily and a jump packbrbr1: get as close as you can and cast invisibilty on your pawnbr2: jump to the stockpile of componentsbr3: pick up all the components (PickUp&Haul) or just haul it awaybrbrbecause the raider can't finish the mortars they'll just wait there They won't starve because they'll always get newbrfood drops but their mood, comfort and hunger will be terrible so you can just fight them later

I have the real best tip for anything Just open up the dev menu and cheat everything!brbrI mean I respect these findings and oddities that you've discovered, but the game is actually a story telling simulator first, and a game second All limitations and difficulties of the game are self imposed You can turn off sieges if you hate them, you can turn off infestations, you can turn off drop pod assaults, there are even ways to make drop pods from enemies land at the edges of the mapbrbrWhile I do like to watch these and learn about these things, it doesn't sit right with me as being "efficient" "best" or even a "tip" when if your intent was to undermine the mechanics of the game, you can just disable the mechanic you dislike or God mode a result you disliked and those two options being the clearly superior way to handle things brbrDefinitely noteworthy stuff to be had on a hardcore, hardest difficulty, no special rules, dev mode disabled run but to a lot of players losing is part of the funbrbrAnyways, don't mind my comment I like the stuff posted, just kind of find myself at odds with the titles and how the info is presented

This feels way too exploity to me And since combat is my favorite part of rimworld I also tend to invest in insane artillery By late game, most raids don't make it to the turrets anyways and anybody who stands still is a deadman

Personally I don't like doing things like this because it's more of an exploit than an actual reasonable tactic, it's just mean to the dumb AI when you can just pick them off from a distance until they come to get minced by your melee lads

Or just drop boomalope and mortar shell at them, they will shoot at the boomalope and detonate all yours and their mortar shells at once, at least 60 of them will die and most of time they will just start fleeing
