In the UK before you become a fully acting police officer you have 3 years of training (you still are operational but there are rules on what you can and can't do) The test is pretty tough if you are stupid enough to show up unprepared There was a scandal recently about the criminal records of some police officers In general, the UK police force is in need of a huge reform Comment from : D Pop |
23,000 assaults in 2015 alone but only 11 deaths since 2010, its almost as if strict gun laws saves lives 🤔 Comment from : Liam Birch |
I can't help but think that the Infographics Show that provides the numbers and the story your comments are aimed at, highly qualify for the opinion Europeans have of US people when it comes to ignorance and arrogance Comment from : Hub Zimmermann |
The idea that the UK police are not armed is incorrect They are heavily armed It's just that regular officers don't carry a side arm as a matter of course Comment from : Derek Spitz |
Not sure I can trust the Mirror (UK) I am not even sure you can call that a newspaper Comment from : addicteduke |
What the hell is this video? Do they lie on purpose or what? Comment from : Mia |
Bobbies in UK are called bobbies because the first police force was founded by Victorian politician Robert Peel Comment from : Catholic Beth |
Attention, cette vidéo donne BEAUCOUP d'informations fausses Comment from : Vacancière |
Gotta love Americans educating other American's on British culture, lolbrThe whole "Bobbies" information is about a century outdated We still use coppers In fact, I imagine the US term "cops" stems from our term "coppers" Comment from : J Ryan |
Hi from ScotlandbrbrWe sit exams 4 5 6th year at school You achieve standard grades, highers, and sys studies You do have to pass a police exam to get in as police exams are quite hard Tulliallan police college carefully monitored Training is undertaken at Police Scotland Training and Recruitment Centres, the Scottish Police College at Tulliallan, and at your Division You have to sit a pset exam and pass All problem solving 2 years probation period, and that's at a police station Scots law is different from English law so we have our own police forces We have nhs No medical bills Comment from : Jillian Martin |
In the UK, calling someone by a " nasty " name is classed as an assault Comment from : Iain Tiltman |
You need to consider cost of living when you compare salaries For New York, a salary of 50k is probably really low compared to 30k in the UK Comment from : Noksus |
How do they count the number of illegal guns Is the number published in Criminal Gangs Weekly? A cynic might think 'The Guardian' just pulled the figure out of its rear end Comment from : andrew dobson |
Can I just say, the image on the thumbnail of an American police officer vs British both of them are British police officers, except the one on the left is a firearms officer Comment from : East Sussex 999 |
I love that the thumbnail are both British but on the lest it says American but has a kings guard in the background 😂 Comment from : Monkey plays Games and Stuff |
The police always cry assault here that’s probably why the number is so high Comment from : ant munro |
24 million assaults on British Police is obviously a made up number, probably extrapolated from a small unrepresentative sample Also you can commit assault verbally under UK law, so that may have something to do with the strange figure Comment from : Russell George |
As others have pointed out, assault can include verbal assaults Guarantee American cops are “assaulted” as much in that way It’s a misleading statistic Comment from : Jonathon |
"Goons for hire" is the exact definition of american police Also take statistics with a grain of salt For instance, how do they know how many illegal guns there are? Remember with statistics you can manipulate the study Figures lie and liars figure Comment from : actiondork |
Named after Robert peelbobbies, geddit? Comment from : William Wilkes |
I imagine american cops gets assaulted less because they strike first? Comment from : André Barreto |
Police is people with power and guns They not only protect society from crime but also do crime themselves More police you have - more crime you get Comment from : alex k |
135 police officers killed in 2016, his reaction? That’s not that much LOL that shows the American mindset Comment from : David Dieudonné |
ON THE THUMBNAIL THEY ARE BOTH BRITISH POLICE OFFICERS! Comment from : DELTA |
"Assault" is anything from spitting at a policeman to pushing him to actual physical assault This statistic makes it sound as if they are being beaten up 19 times per year which is not true Comment from : sharon martin |
A comment I read once said that America is a 3rd world country in every way but economically It really stuck with me because I had never actually thought about it that way before But when I read that and went looking I found that the US is regularly pretty far down the list in every major social comparison with actual 1st world countries A lot of the time being bottom of the list isn't even enough, and the US can be so much of an outlier that it ends up being completely off the scales when compared to every other developed nationbrIt can hide all of that though because it is the largest economy in the world though and absolutely presents itself as a 1st world country Comment from : Subjagator |
The assaults stats are misleading on uk police as so many things are logged as assaults, many with no further action such as verbal assault, spitting etc, not everything will be physical violence Comment from : Jamie Derry |
Police get a lot more training in the UK He gave the impression of the opposite Also many wont get past the entrance requirements There are many checks before one even gets near to training It really irritates me when commentators like him don't do proper fact checking So irritating and I can see why others here are so annoyed as it was an insult to the professionalism of the force Very misleading indeedl Comment from : M McKenzie |
I wouldn’t believe these figures my friend It’s a shame anything posted on the Internet/YouTube is classed as true This video you reviewed is just another pile of s… for clickers I’d normally just leave a channel, but I can see you’re a good, smart guy Come over one day mate, would be warmly welcomed here in Europe and the UK UK Police officers are usually degree level educated and highly trained, importantly in defusing a situation With respect, having lived in New York and London, UK police are great, not perfect, but you feel safe Comment from : LAGood |
Gun crime is unusual in the Uk, but it does happen occasionally, sadly a man was shot dead a mile from my home 5 days ago Comment from : Jean Mckay |

Assaults on police in the UK brThe z-grade schlock-meisters who made this video did not investigate what constitutes an 'assault'brIn the year ending March 2022 there were just over 41,000 assaults on police officers in England and Wales (including British Transport) Of which: 29,491 were crimes of “assault WITHOUT INJURY on a constable” recorded across all forces an increase of 11 compared with 26,539 in the previous year (For example swearing at a police office or knocking off their cap would constitute an 'assault')br 11,730 crimes of “assault with injury on a constable” recorded across all forces (including British Transport Police), a small increase of 26 compared with 11,429 in the previous year Comment from : Michael Rogers |
18,000 plus separately constituted and locally funded police forces with no uniform standards of training and recruitment It all adds up to why the the USA does NOT work Comment from : Michael Rogers |
Hi, a major difference is that in the UK we call it the Police Service, not force We police by consent in the UK not by force, hence the lack of firearms in use by an average bobby The reason for the decrease in Police numbers is due to political reasons post the 2008 crash, austerity measures cut 20000 police jobs, msinly of pensionable age Comment from : Robbie |
you should search for NZ cop show - pretty hilarious sometimes - check out a programme called Motorway Patrol Comment from : Hadrians Wall |
Yes a huge difference on what is called an assault but seeing as if a citizen assaults a american officer the policeman can legally kill that citizen with his weapon even though the citizen may not be armed that is the reason there are less assaults on officers in the US total training time fir a qualified uk police officer is approximately 2 years the initial test is just the first of many Comment from : Jeannie Warken |
These comparison Videos are Soo bad No fact checking, just the first number they find on any website Comment from : Martin Schmidt |

We have a lot of gang activity in London but Your forgetting that American is so much larger than England and our gun laws are more strict than America Our Police Officers carry tasers, we rather keep people alive rather than kill unarmed people 🤣🤣🤣🤣 Comment from : Darren Fearon |
Oh yes, Some British police forces are infamous,London Metropolitan for example have a bad press Comment from : Arnold Arnold |
As other stated about uk training its wrong The pay is also wrong , its £21,402, rising to £41,13 Also holidays is wrong UK law everyone gets a minimum 28 days paid holiday a year Taken from the Metropolitan web site Annual leave entitlement
brFor police staff, annual leave entitlement depends on your length of service as follows:
br
br• less than five years’ service – 28 days
br• more than five years’ service – 33 daysbrbrTBH the video you are watching is rather shocking in its total lack of facts Comment from : Joe Peddie |

An assault could be a simple push or a violent attack with a weapon It's very hard to get a gun licence in the UK hence criminals tend to obtain them illegally Comment from : Bandy Coot |
I live a rural area of South West England and in the seventies we had an America cop from Boston join our local constabulary I used to see him patrolling our country villages on foot and we waved as I drove past on my bus He said he loved it , stopping and talking the villagers Sadly he went back to America after about 18 months because he couldn't live on the pay 🇬🇧 Comment from : Johnny Beer |

Assault is the threat Battery is the unwanted physical contact Comment from : Love Peace |
That is definitely NOT correct that qualifications are not required It used to be the case, but not now the police do go to a training centre and have to reach a certain level of fitness, they have to take a fitness test Comment from : J Green |
99 of the guns issued in England and Wales are section 2 shotguns which are restricted to no more than two rounds and include those used for vermin control, clay pigeon shooting and sporting purposes An important difference is that after mass shootings in the UK including Dunblane, the types of guns available to the public are now severely reduced (new laws were introduced and thousands of guns had to be handed in) and rapid fire automatic guns are no longer available We cannot own guns for self defence, there has to be another purpose for them I don't know anyone who owns a gun My father was a police officer in the 60s and 70s and never had a gun, he had a truncheon that he carried in a long pocket Some police officers do now have tasers and some units carry guns for which they have a high level of training, such as the royal protection squad The biggest threat is knives and in certain circumstances, such as going on a raid into a criminal's house, they will wear stab vests The height restriction was removed for 'equality' and now some of our police, especially women, are ridiculously small our police is not as good as it used to be, they are so caught up now in policing the internet and folk being 'hurt' by words on the internet they rarely attend or bother about burglaries, which I'm certain the public would rather they dealt with I think my late father would be quite shocked at the changes, he was very much for traditional policing and did not want to be armed Comment from : J Green |
Just knocking a Bobby's hat off is classed as an assault Comment from : angela walker |
there are you tube videos on UK policing "Real responders" following around real police if you are interestedbrthe Judge Henry Fielding was very interesting, he wrote a controversial book called "A History of Tom Jones A Foundling" which was made into a TV series Comedy Drama It critisised how a persons birth and social status and wealth effects the lives of people, and how before the police existed rich people would pay thugs to lie in court, lynch people manipulate people for their own gains He was very close friends to the prime minister of the UK "William Pitt" Comment from : stephen whittaker |
I'm pretty sure seeing an anti-police graffiti counts as an assault in the UK too There's no way those numbers would be that high otherwise Comment from : Yugen |
As mentioned the name bobbies came from the fact the Briish police force was founded by one Robert Peel At first they became known as Peelers, later Bobbies We do have some gamg culture but mostly they carry knives rather than guns Not sure about the accuracy of everything mentioned in that report Comment from : Christine Stromberg |
i dont know the health issues in usa cops but when you see videos something liike 8 of 10 is too fat Comment from : Tuomas Mattila |
