Steve Hilton
An unarmed police force is the best way to keep armed robbery and crimes involving guns a rare situation knowing that you are not going to come face to face with an armed officer the NEED to carry one is the reason why only serious criminals committing high profile crime ( bank robbery etc) consider a gun necessaryThe other side of this is that a robber with a gun knows that the officer is unarmed and less likely to shootCarrying a gun has a very serious prison sentence ( there have been two mass shootings in the UK,in my lifetime, and the government has introduced strict regulations)brThe theory is that if you have a gun your more likely to use it than if you don't have one

Aquarium Downunder
Just look at one main point, get shot in the USA or get called a nasty name in the UK ( VERBAL ASSAULT ) ???brIn my way of thinking, call me anything you want, just don't shoot me
Comment from : Aquarium Downunder

MAIRY HUFF
Even if you are a scumbag criminal British police won't kneel on your neck until you stop breathing!
Comment from : MAIRY HUFF

Kim Pixie Winkle
They still offer rewards here (UK) to find wanted people or any information given that leads to their arrest
Comment from : Kim Pixie Winkle

H L
Not true you need a degree in Scotland to be a police officer that is 4 years
Comment from : H L

Elizabeth Elias
One difference is:brbrAMERICAN POLICEbrbrShoot first ask questions laterbrbrBRITISH POLICEbrbrWill negotiate first until they get a suitable ending to the situation
Comment from : Elizabeth Elias

Tamara Pearce
The wages for UK police are much higher than this video suggested and you do need a degree or higher education to apply for the police The training is also longer in the UK
Comment from : Tamara Pearce

Paul Edwards
Are US cops better than UK ones don't know As a child I would have said the British Police were the best in the world their were of course exceptions with a minority who were corrupt especially in the met Today though I have to say thats been turned on its head with a large majority (90 percent) being lying, pxrvxrted, corrupt, Gestapo thugs, and the rest not giving a damn
Comment from : Paul Edwards

Doiknowyou566
As someone who grew up with the PSNI as the local police force I always find it a bit weird going to England or Scotland and seeing unarmed officers But I imagine the same would be true in reverse
Comment from : Doiknowyou566

I LOVE dexter ♥

Matthew Newberry
2 million illegally owned guns is a gross exaggeration/guess
Comment from : Matthew Newberry

Owen Ward
I know you're looking at facts but you should watch clips of responses from different scenarios in each country Like a fail to stop, drugs raid, code 0, burglaries, stuff like that Our armed police are not to be trifled with 😂
Comment from : Owen Ward

The Walking Wrinkle
No way!! I did a masters in criminology (under grad was psychology and criminology)! Not to be a cop, to work in probation (parole in USA??) brYou would have made a good cop, you are kind There are plenty of police that aren't, but you seem like a genuinely good guy But their loss is our gain 😜😁
Comment from : The Walking Wrinkle

Spiko
I can't wait for that UK themed tattoo

Wayne Attwood
ROZZERS means "Police" ROZZERS is a long-standing slang term for the police, which derives from the late 1800s The term is highly likely to have been coined in the time of Sir Robert Peel, who established the first police force in the area of Rossendale, Lancashire (hence ROZZERS)
Comment from : Wayne Attwood

Matt Hill
The reason the assault figure is so high is because telling a copper you're not a fan of his favourite song is likely to get you nicked these days
Comment from : Matt Hill

matt smith
I live in a village of 5,500 we have 0 police here you will be lucky to see one passing through on your average weekday
Comment from : matt smith

adam hale
Biggest difference for me,as someone who's had more than their fair share of interactions with the old bill(mainly driving stops as a younger driver in an often modified car🤔🤷‍♂️😂often pulled twice a week tho😑)is that we're not particularly scared of our police, maybe getting arrested, but not our actual interactions with them🤔🤷‍♂️that'll be why there's so many assaults over here, yeh you might get arrested, get slapped around, but 99 of the time, you're being killed over something basic 🤷‍♂️
Comment from : adam hale

adam hale
Hold up, you were training to become old bill and that actually involves going to college to learn about criminal justice?!!😱
Comment from : adam hale

Kyal Grant
We might not have guns but we use machete's and knifes and things (not me) but the entire UK do
Comment from : Kyal Grant

Mean1974
Whether it's the US or UK most cops don't know the law and violate your rights in the majority of interactions Glad you didn't go through joining as you would have changed from a nice guy to asshole with a badge

Comment from : Glastonbury

High Path
Dont the UK police have three main objectives, Prevention of Crime, Detection of Crime, and Keeping the Queen's Peace
Comment from : High Path

BigIdds
He didn't mention that the UK police were actually called Peely's for a long time, not just Bobbies
Comment from : BigIdds

vulpeish
^ ^ The main problem you have in the USA is your insane gun laws! If we had a similar situation there would a bloodbath on the streets every weekend! I think the police in Scotland do a pretty good job of containing violent incidents Foxy Love fae Scotland VVxx
Comment from : vulpeish

Jean Proctor
Interesting fact, our policemen (they were all men to start with) were also called Peelers, as well as Bobbies That name came from Robert Peel's as well and it's a bit more obvious to see why if a person didn't know that Bobby/Bobbie was a form of Robert
Comment from : Jean Proctor

Emma Howells
We have a lot of knife crime mostly in the UK
Comment from : Emma Howells

Alistair Mcdougall
A police officer in this country can charge you with assault for just laying your hands on them so the figures for assault may be a little misleading
Comment from : Alistair Mcdougall

redtrevcollects
Police and armed forces cuts in the UK are criminal
Comment from : redtrevcollects

WasBella102

Filip K

Comment from : Filip K

Emma Jane
I imagine the assault figures are higher in the UK because as many other commenters have said, it includes verbal abuse as well I think it’s also likely higher because UK citizens don’t fear being shot police

"whatever happened to rewards?" having a professional police force, they don't want to encourage vigilantism

ManMang0
FYI bobbies is quite an 'oldy' term, I'm mid 30s lived around London area and a lot of areas south and west England and bobbies is something my father (ex police) would usebrbrYou are more likely to hear 'old bill' or 'copper' in areas I've lived UK varies a lot however from place to place
Comment from : ManMang0

Steel Panther
In the UK anyone has the power to arrest and detain anyone if they see a person that is in the process of committing a criminal offence, or if they believe that a person has already committed a criminal offence or is going to commit a criminal offence, this is called a ‘Citizens Arrest’, or ‘Any Person Arrest’, brbrAlthough the person making such arrest has to let the person committing the crime know why they are under a Citizen’s Arrest, they can’t be cautioned for the arrest it’s self, it is only in the intention of holding the offender until the arrival of the Police, using reasonable & minimal amount of force necessary to do so,brbrbrFrom Wiki:-brA citizen's arrest is an arrest made by a private citizen – that is, a person who is not acting as a sworn law-enforcement official In common law jurisdictions, the practice dates back to medieval England and the English common law, in which sheriffs encouraged ordinary citizens to help apprehend law breakersbrbrDespite the practice's name, in most countries, the arresting person is usually designated as a person with arrest powers, who need not be a citizen of the country in which they are acting For example, in the British jurisdiction of England and Wales, the power comes from section 24A(2) of the Police and Criminal Evidence Act 1984, called "any person arrest" This legislation states "any person" has these powers, and does not state that they need to be a British citizenbrbrbrI’m not sure if the USA citizens have any kind of powers like this, or what the USA law’s state about who can and can’t make arrests on offending criminals, brbr👍🏼

Jennie Darling
The biggest difference is that in the UK we have policing by consent
Comment from : Jennie Darling

Jennie Darling
Typical infograffis show, they always get things wrong, saying that the police are "attacked" because they have been "assaulted"
Comment from : Jennie Darling

Gina fromCologne
I really enjoy your videos, you have such a great personality! :)
Comment from : Gina fromCologne

bkcin86
Good video - I’d recommend looking at uk police interactions as most of us in the UK tend to have a good rapport with cops and see them as friendly, helpful and approachable people, certainly most people aren’t scared of them, which is how it seems to be in the US Keep up the good work
Comment from : bkcin86

John Brownbridge
You are VERY unlikely to hear the term "Bobbies" used in relation to police officers these days You're much more likely to hear Bizzies (Busys ?), Coppers, the Fuzz (maybe) or some less salubrious term in some quarters Usually just Cops or Police is used
Comment from : John Brownbridge

Darrell Powell
The video is too old now maybe find new content that is up to date
Comment from : Darrell Powell

Paul George Baines
UK armed police are increasing and a lot of the police are in unmarked cars with hidden blue lights and a pop up sign We also have the transport police for railways and airports 👍🏴󠁧󠁢󠁥󠁮󠁧󠁿🇬🇧🤠

You talked about Dexter like it was in the past Dexter New Blood has started a few weeks ago Set 10 years after the finale
Comment from : Pegaz

Ray Zalaf
All you need to do is look at a British Copper and they'll claim an assault, they are now woke but also on a power trip, a bunch self entitled millennials who have been told that the sheeple should bow down to their "authority", and when challenged either break down in tears or hit the panic button and have all the coppers in the area descend to give you a kicking, go and check out the abuse on the auditing channels, UK and USA to see the abuse of power At one time you could trust a Bobby, now they use their position to literally commit murder Wayne Couzens
Comment from : Ray Zalaf

plushie
It can depend when it comes to assault as whst is classified Spitting at an officer is classified as assault Especially when they are purposely trying to give them something contagious
Comment from : plushie

Ian Mccartney
Better if you want to get shot
Comment from : Ian Mccartney

Sam Brooks
This is a bit like comparing tuberculosis to smallpox
Comment from : Sam Brooks

Smokey mcpot
If a British cop moved over the pond he/she wouldn't need a gun americans love the proper English accent so they would just listen and get arrested haha
Comment from : Smokey mcpot

TAK Palfrey
An assault in the UK varies from being killed to just spitting at someone
Comment from : TAK Palfrey

Timsalt3100
Its a serious problem here our emergency services get attacked regularly its sad and those who do it though get serious sentences
Comment from : Timsalt3100

Tim Banks
23,000 assaults against British policebrGuarantee that half of them were malicious arrests the member of the public accidently brushed up against an officer and before you know it you have been put in cuffs!
Comment from : Tim Banks

Dave Williams
The City of Glasgow Police was established before London's Metropolitan Police
Comment from : Dave Williams

Mark Kettlewell
Well JT , in cities police have a higher likelihood of being killed So I guess you could call it ‘danger money’ 😊
Comment from : Mark Kettlewell

tickety boo
3:19 There are still bounty hunters in the USA who can get rewards for escaped crims I believe but no counterpart as far as know in the UK

stephenies pet care
The illegal gun figures for the UK are so wrong Here knife crime is huge and that's something which has happened largely in the last 20 years brDue to cuts from the Government police don't even come out if you've you've burgled or if an alarm is going off If someone puts their hands on you the Police do nothing here It's really bad in the UK right now There isn't enough Police and people know it
Comment from : stephenies pet care

Angus Soutter
Er incorrect Scotland started what is considered the first Police force in the UK
Comment from : Angus Soutter

William Callister
I would not trust the American cops and now I would not trust the British cops either
Comment from : William Callister

Absolvitor
The Metropolitan Police Service in London is often said to be the fist modern police force, but it isn't The City of Glasgow Police was formed in 1800 by the City of Glasgow Police Act (29 years before the Metropolitan Police) Indeed, the Metropolitan Police gave an undertaking to the Advertising Standards Authority that it itself would never repeat the claim because it's false!
Comment from : Absolvitor

NineBangTrojan
The 2 million illegal guns figure is skewed, the Firearms act 1968 defines things like pepper spray as a Section 5 prohibited weapon so is legally considered the same as a handgun
Comment from : NineBangTrojan
