Why didnt you watch some of the other videos on here to what tools to use? Even look thru some auto parts stores to see what tools you might use there?

Anyone who can get that 10 mm pivot bolt out and dislodge the tensioner on a older civic up north can give themselves a trip to Vegas Its a tiny socket head torqued to 40 lbft! It ends up binding itself with corrosion WTF were the folks at honda thinking?

Its known now that these cars has a lot of problems Since there is tons of tutorial on how to dyi I might just get a civic Talk to mechanic shops most of them don't take aftermarket parts when a customer brings in That really pissed me off

Sorry this happened to your honda, but you gave us a video These tensioners are hydraulic and you have to push them VERY SLOWLY as you have to wait for the oil inside to get to the next compartment in the tensioner On older hondas the tensioner is spring loaded But I am glad you got your car back up and running

When I change the s belt, always change the tensioner, so they are at the same tension

I have the same car with 100,000 miles on it My belt looks to be in great condition I am like you a DIY'er on some things I don't know if I'll attempt a belt replacement myself Somethings that will need to be done once during the lifetime of the car might be better to let the pro's do it I admire your courage though, I myself always think about what could go wrong and having a disabled car in my one car driveway would block other cars from exiting A couple of thoughts for you, if there is a next time you should get a second wrench and add it to the first wrench or a pipe that would sleave the wrench for better leverage You were trying to move the tensioner with a short wrench which isn't easy And secondly all the time and effort could have been eliminated if you just cut the old belt Just sharing ideas with youkeep wrenching'
