Why would you need 1000 WATTS IN 2011? Comment from : Carter Theriault |
WOW Comment from : Limecraft902 Gaming |
I have still yet to RMA my psu back to Mushkin I did everything to try and get my Mushkin Joule 1000 watt version 1 psu to work and no go Is Mushkin done with psus as I see nothing on their site saying they are still in the game With that said I don't know what the heck they can do for me in terms of a replacement if they are not in the business of power supplies anymore Comment from : Worldzworstgamer |
Gold is still a better conductor than copper
Silver is a poor choice for wiring as it too soft a metal too be used in wiring and is also extremely expensive Comment from : counternub40 |
or you just buy it because it was on sale and cheaper than the 700w you wanted Comment from : Dante Yagyu |
NICE PANTS LINUS! Comment from : Stosh |
How much Comment from : xYaYoHD |
@Aslapacrosstheface well the extra connections for the modular portion add metal and therefore resistence (yes even copper and gold have resistence) Comment from : splice247 |
the old joule 1000w/1200w were better Comment from : splice247 |
@meekoman25 most computers don't pull that much from the wall,an ammeter works awesome if you can find a true RMS ammeter, I would say that 98 of home computers barely pull 6 amps max psu's are best used between the 40-60 mark why most cards ask for a minimum of a 500 watt power supplyminimum I would use for a dual gpu set up is 750w max 850w just for stability assurance and longevity of the psu Comment from : juggernautxtr |
@juggernautxtr Wouldn't you need a ammeter because most multimeters (ones I looked at) are only rated at a max of 10A? Comment from : Meeko man |
@juggernautxtr and heres another clue for you to think about higher voltage means less amperage/wattage
lower voltage means higher amperage and wattage
what you read from the wall really isn't showing what your system is pulling Comment from : juggernautxtr |
Nice pyjamas :/ Comment from : JiYung |
@booting2 I am estimating that you are pulling around 507 watts at full load with 2 fans, the 460 pulls between 200 - 230 watts i would recommend a 800- 850 watt PSU for the safety of the system, and better performance from the power supply(keeping it cooler and in preferred under 80 use state) Comment from : juggernautxtr |
quite a lot of cables there Comment from : Tofu64 |
@SuperProformance
Thanks for pointing this out!
I thought it was an issue with my account, but now I know it's just typical YouTube failure Comment from : YTmurphy |
@FrostyTheBeerMan no sweat ;) Comment from : C N |
@kokfah oh wow ! ok that is very cool I had NO clue that even existed Last time I bought a power supply was a few years ago, things have changed for the better ! That sweet ! and thanks for the info ! much appreciated ! Comment from : FrostyTheBeerMan |
@FrostyTheBeerMan non-modular - all the cables is connected to the PSU so, u can't choose what cables is needed and connect to it hence u will have a lot of useless cable jumble-up in ur case
modular - only important or useful cables is connected out-of-the-box, and there will be slots u can plug in to with additional cables which is included for example - cooler master silent pro PSU Comment from : C N |
too bad its not modular Comment from : C N |
Linus, you've unboxed a lot, can you upload a boxing vid for a change?
coz i really think you have a plastic packaging machine, otherwise you have to pay shit load of money for these vids Comment from : akyeren |
Hi Linus, can you explain modular vs non-modular power supply ? I don't understand the difference Thanks ! Comment from : FrostyTheBeerMan |
@SuperProformance Youtube is going downhill pretty fast Good video though Comment from : Roflcopter4b |
I should have changed my Major to It when I had the chance The maybe could do stuff like this Comment from : Sodisna |

85 bucks on amazon shazaam! Comment from : Luger718 |
Interesting how they went with a hardwired approach but also went with a multi-rail design I'd love to see their variable rail system back from their older 800W unit Comment from : Tmoney65413 |
@GenericName007 Hardwired is actually better than modular from a performance standpoint Comment from : Tmoney65413 |
It sais "OPEN" but it's open already xD Comment from : YTmurphy |
hmm, kind of odd to see a 1000w psu w/o modular design these days I mean I consider a 1000w PSU to be a bit on the enthusiast side as your typical PC is not going to need a PSU that strong and most enthusiasts are going to want a modular design, especially when there's many to choose from Comment from : GenericName007 |
@TheHooplaz i bought 2 gtx 460 for sli its amazing maxing out all settings with amazing fps but im also going to buy a gtx 580 in a week or two and just use my current setup for a lil while but i noticed ati is a lot brighter and colorful than nvidia its like 360 colorful and nvidia is ps3 gritty but ati hd is better Comment from : KINGhotaru11 |
that's a helluva lot of cables, you'll need a really big case for them to fit Comment from : subbookkeeper |
a few years ago you needed to use molex to sata adapters, but now you need to use sata to molex power adapters :D Comment from : icecoldezio |

@gamer931215
You shouldn't put big ass psu's into small computercases ;) Comment from : GTAVince |
@gamer931215
No, it shouldn't That is your problem, if you buy a case that has inufficient space for cable management I ain't paying nothing extra to get modular cables, because non-modular suits my (and many other people's) needs very well and I have no problems with those cables
I would say that a good space for cable management should be a standard in cases these days Comment from : born2drivetrucks |
lolwat no 4pin for the cpu? aaw Comment from : Erfie |
@JonnyFlash80
Well, that has almost nothing to do with your PSU You just need a good case that has the option and the room for cable management I don't see any problems with non-modular PSUs The only problem are the people that whine about them, just because they don't know how to do cable management
I miss the old days, when everything wasn't delivered on a gold-trimmed pillow and handled with silk gloves Comment from : born2drivetrucks |
@gamer931215
Actually you have to be pretty stupid for not knowing how to do cable management with a non-modular PSUs Comment from : born2drivetrucks |
@HugRunner If you love cabels it would be fun Comment from : Catzor Overlord |
Are you thinking what I'm thinking? 3x6990? :O Comment from : Martin |

Comment from : knexfan0011 |
Shame its not modular Comment from : David Warren |
Wow so many cables and no modular that won't be fun to use in any chassi Comment from : HugRunner |
I honestly could never go back to a non-modular PSU Are there even any reasons to go with a non-modular? Comment from : eternallord |

Hey does anyone know if a 850 watt psu can power a 6990? Comment from : EpicWalkthroughs |
Seriouslythere's a little of peoples who need that amount of power, for most peoples, 650W is enough even for a quad-core and a good video card Comment from : RaptorZX3 |

@styx70819 for a small power supply like a 500W and under you will probably use all the cable so it wont really matter, but yea if you buy a 1000W there is no reason to not be modular Comment from : FoRm4t |
@styx70819 non modular PSUs are a bit cheaper i used one in my aunts computer when i build it since she doesn't need a very powerfull pc so space inside is not going to be an issue and i was able to tuck all the extra cable under the optical drive Comment from : Verliebt |
@xfx6 i prefer my corsair AX 850w :) Comment from : CruelQuertos |
HX750W for me I likes my modular PSU's! Comment from : BrewersPackers |

Please!Please! Make a unboxing of the new H60 from Corsair! Please! Comment from : Ichbinsogoschat |
@styx70819 Price is often the main reason You can get a damn good PSU that isn't modular for a little less Comment from : TalesOfWar |
Hey Linus, are you building another rig or do you just steal products from work to do an unboxing?? Comment from : CCastBlakp |
@styx70819 I bought my Corsair 750w non-modular b/c it was my first build and I didnt even know what modular meant, Cant wait to get a modular one now that I know what im doing -_- Comment from : Chris Porter |

@styx70819 i dont have modular I just tuck the extra cables away round the back, that way i wont loose them ;) Comment from : ryan byrne |
@styx70819 corsair tx is non modular and is the most popular corsair series psu :/ Comment from : kyle7412 |
