Once the price has been agreed upon, is it worth asking a dealer how much more theyre willing to knock off if I finance for 60 months with their companies loan department? Hello Kevin and Elizabeth, I'm in desperate need of advice I bought a used car on Saturday and paid with a personal check The problem is that the dealership ran my credit credits and made me sign a finance contract as a back up (that is what they called it) just in case I stopped the check or it didn't have any funds I realize about it when I got home a little too late Is this something standard and we should not be worried about? Didn't have a problem the one time I paid cash for a car from a dealer I bought the car last day of the year 2017 dealer was asking 11K got it out the door for 10K which was all I had The easiest transaction with a dealer I ever had Car was a dealer loaner which I still have today, 2013 VW Jetta SE bought it with around 53K miles on it now has just over 118K on it and still going strong Comment from : @jamescastle5096 |

Make sure you get them print out the bill of sale first so you know what you are paying for they have to reveal things that otherwise you might miss during negotiating In Arkansas, the amount of any cash back has to be added to the purchase price (i know, there is no logic to this except the state gets more money for you borrowing more money) If it is your first time buying in the state, you might not realize that and overpay Comment from : @USMC6976 |

We bought a used car on June 10th and it was obvious that the dealership was scrambling to get new paperwork in place to eliminate the useless fees they were known for adding on Even so they still had a nearly $3000 "Certification" fee and a $1000 "paperwork" fee that I was able to get removed On the test drive the salesman asked "Are you folks thinking about financing?" and I replied with "I'd like to see what you have to offer"brOf course we were going to pay cash but didn't spill that, we just let them write up a 72 month contractbrThis place is so wrapped up in selling financing instead of cars that they never questioned our payment intentions, I guess they were just looking at that potential $900 a month paymentbrWithin a week I got the "Welcome to Nissan Financial Services" email, went to the website (much better than a payment book) registered the car, added a bank, clicked on "Find your payoff amount" and said "bye bye" in totalbrOverall, by using the your method we managed to negotiate a drive off price (tax tag and title too) about $2500 below KBBbrPlus we had a really good time getting a deal on our terms!
