Oh man My 2006 Subaru Forester is finally on her last leg almost 270K miles My long term reliable mechanic My brother, said stop the repair get a new car My problem is I live far away from my brother, I'm 68 and widowed We always played good cop bad cop Well no more bad cop! My problem is I've educated myself with so many of your very informative videosI want to thank you I feel a bit more empowered to go out and buy that new car Now I just watched your short on chip issues Now you say if you can hold off 6 months that's your recommendation Well I have the super running 1997 Chevy pick up truck So I guess I'll just wait it out So far all the 6 dealerships I've spoken with seem like they are my best friend, or talk money up front or have to wait 4-6 months before they can restock inventory Wanting me to buy a car online and wait till it comes into the dealership One place said they had 95 2020/ 21 loaners I asked if he could sell one of those He said no So I will just keep searching Truth be told 68 year old women are seemingly a soft target I've had them say If you were my mom, or worse lol my grandma, this is what I would suggest for you I am a Washington State West coast lady get this a salesman even said "Oh look" double vanity mirrors and all those cup holders, or isn't it a pretty color I just got mad and walked away I have financing I got my bank pre approved loan in hand, and I know what I want I want either a 5th gen Subaru Forester or a Toyota Rav 4 I'll keep looking but wait till mid year Thank you again for all your videos I feel like I'm back in College taking so many notes I've noticed your O2 assist and saying prayers for you and the fabulous Elizabeth If there is a better Mt Pass vehicle out there Please do a video on top 3 or 5 SUVs for under 40 I need snow to sand dependability Thank you Senior but not stupid Patty Comment from : @pattystordahl3754 |

I can tell you when my wife and I were out car shopping we would split to cover more ground and this is absolutely a tactic they use to keep you on the lot! They definately treat women and men differently in this regard I said I need to talk to my wife and the sales guy backs off with a smartass comment about not being man enough My wife had a female saleswoman who said it would be a great surprise for my husband and good for kids to get the car today Absolutely disgusting behavior! If you go into a dealership armed with knowledge, YOU are the one in control and YOU decide how long the negotiation should take Personally I think an hour is too long If you have your ducks lined up, you can politely inform them that that's all the time you have And stick to it There's other cars and other dealers And shop online, and make a deal online if possible But if they ask you for a deposit via your card forget it Comment from : @geoben1810 |

I went to Subaru once and told them that I need to think about it I told them that I was going to Red Lobster to meet family for a birthday dinner (which was true) The sales lady had the audacity to call me 20 minutes later and tell me that she will bring the car and paperwork to Red Lobster so I can complete the deal there!! I recommend saying, "You are my first stop among four other dealers I will visit" They will ask for the other cars I am looking at but am careful not to mention anything common as they will likely have those used versions on their lot, to show me theirs So, I mention a list of odd, unusual other cars I am looking at to thwart them: 2015 Lada Riva, 2008 Pontiac Grand Am, 2009 Toyota Hilux, and a Peugot 208 "Erm, okay," they rejoin when I offer the list, and let me go Comment from : @Artecus |

I hate how all the vehicles are locked so you can't just browse without the salesperson hounding you You have to stand there and wait forever while the salesperson talks your ear off while you wait for the gopher to bring the next set of keys I've had to tell sales people to stop talking as I knew more about the new car they were selling than the salesperson; I wonder if they even read their own website information I remember back in the day a salesperson could quote every spec and feature for a model off the top of their head Now you get a Beavis and Butthead look while they quickly try to look the car up on the website Comment from : @mysticstarhf9265 |

Whenever I've gone into a dealership to buy a car, one thing that I've noticed salesmen do to keep you from leaving is ask to make a copy of your driver's license The problem with that is they never bring it back to you not even when you ask for it The other thing they do, particularly when you have a teade-in, is they ask for your car keys to "test drive" your car, again holding on to them so that you can't leave even if you wanted to That's why I will bring a 2nd set of keys with me if I decide to leave just in case they refuse to give me my keys back (believe me it happens) As far as the drivers license, i make copies before I come in and give them the copy not the actual license Comment from : @craigthomas6706 |
