The only essential oil I use is peppermint because I learned that if you put a drop or two in your palms, rub it together, and smell your palms, it will open up your sinuses SO fast I used it so many times during show week because my sinuses kept getting so closed up Comment from : Sol |

Thanks for talking about the bamboo coffee cups! I found one at a thrift store recently I guess it's going to become a juice cup for the kids I'm sad it might not be safe for coffee The lid is food grade silicone though, so maybe I'll try to find a different cup from the thrift store it can fit on 🙁 Comment from : Sarah R |

Would you be willing to do a video to help with food waste I eat only fresh produce I’d love to have tips for it to stay fresh longer I just found your channel I love it! Comment from : Chloe Ashewood |

I don't know what to do with my bamboo cup now 😔 Comment from : Emma K |

My main problem with EOs is the use of body oils I am allergic to some of them and when I am around someone using them I get migraines If I want to freshen a room I will buy oranges to eat and dry the peels for a subtle citrus scent You can also buy a potted mint plant that will provide beautiful scent and you can clip the leaves for mint tea Comment from : loren stribling |

Many scientists say the EWG is not a very reliable resouce, they are also heavily funded by organic lobbyists TheEcoWell and LabmuffinBeautyScience are great people to follow

I've seen those bamboo mugs before, but thankfully for me because I'm on a restricted diet I'm not inclined to use them The essential oil thing is an issue for me because I never know what to do with the used bottles I use essential oils very often, because I make my own household cleansing and personal care products, but I am concerned about the environmental implications It's great that while you were skeptical of the comments from one of your viewers regarding aloe, at least you made it a point to research their statements rather than just dismissing them off hand Lol, I have just subscribed Thank you for this video, I appreciate your revelation of this issue of "green washing" Comment from : Zaar Khananal Bath Raoban |

I felt that bamboo stuff was shaddy! I couldn't understand how it seemed so plastic like and was afraid there was other stuff added I almost bought them for my toddler, but something was stopping me from doing so Thanks for letting me know Comment from : Z Z |

This is a great video and so much good information that I didn’t know nor have I seen on other videos! Comment from : Sandi Humeniuk |

I think it would be cool if you could look into vivo barefoot shoes I love there shoes and they claim to be eco friendly and use recyclables and sustainable products to make there shoes One of there claims "WE INNOVATE SUSTAINABLY WITH BOTH LEATHER AND VEGAN MATERIALS" Comment from : Melissa Plummer |
Like the video This might just be a pet-eve of mine but the “non toxic” talk is hilarious Essential oils are toxic people have reported health issues with essential oils on the skin and like so many companies recommend and when people drink them there are also a lot of health issues around it That’s called being toxic to people lol Nothing against you because I like the points you made but really understand what the meaning of Toxic actually is Wrote this before I watched the rest and I love that you point out to talk to a dentist before making toothpaste and talking to professionals and saying natural doesn’t mean better and I thank you sooooo much for this More people need to take that advice Comment from : patrick jackson |
For several months I was using a nice-smelling DIY face cream made by my friend It felt great going on and was all "natural, organic ingredients So, I got this rash all around the edge of my face I didn't make the connection so I changed my shampoos, stopped wearing makeup, etcbut it got worse rather than better So I finally went to an allergy doc and got major allergy test Turns out I am allergic to "bee's wax!" My doc said "Just cause it's natural doesn't mean you can't be allergic!" Apparently, allergy to beeswax (or bee glue) and propolis is fairly common It explained a lot! I thought back on the time a "natural" deodorant left huge circles of rash under my arms and other things that happened If you have trouble with "natural" productscheck for beeswax in the ingredientscould be the culprit Comment from : Robin Gee |

Re: donating unwanted clothing I know you’re sponsored by thread up, but what’s your honest thoughts on them? I was selling on postmark and using it to buy too- but obviously that model has a million holes in it The most obvious being the amount of plastic some sellers use to ship their stuff Comment from : Rose Quartz |
Love listening to your thoughts on these things What is your take on something like the reusable beeswax food wrappers? Comment from : limitlessends |

I mean $2 refills sounds like a steal, tbh Comment from : LoveAndSnapple |

OMG, yes!! The essential oils! Why is nobody talking about over harvesting endangered wood (sandalwood, rosewood) and slow growing woods like cedar!! How many forests has to be chopped down to realize this?! Comment from : Bogi B |
I think one of the biggest issues I see is poor shaming and not recognizing that our economy isn't meant to support sustainable or low waste, and that getting into these habits typically require some sort of upfront investment that isn't attainable to a lot of people Comment from : Neli Childers |
the essential oil & DIY thing i think is a gateway to another thing - sometimes DIYs are SO wasteful with packaging Like even if you're mixing your own products and keeping them in a glass jar or something, how many of the ingredients came in packaging and had to be shipped multiple places etc I don't think it's a bad idea to make them if you want to, but I think the assumption that DIY has a lower extraction of resources is not a valid one to make in many cases If you have the option of buying premade products that are made really consciously a business may be able to get ingredients in a much lower-waste way than you can Comment from : jo renee reads |

Loved you on The Walking Dead! Carrrlllllllll Comment from : Jeff M |
I'm glad you made that point about skincare I'm transitioning to zero waste, but always felt conflicted about not switching to DIY skincare Good skincare products are developed to be effective, which is not something I can trust when it comes to DIY If only there was a way to sustainably package them! the schools in my area collect coats for needy students as well as backpacks and some other items Also there is a group that gives professional clothing to people mostly women, returning to the workforce Homeless shelters my also take some clothing Comment from : doc B |
Blueland sources all of their products from Chinese companies in Alibaba I found all of their products there for pennies Which pisses me off a bit, and I’m not sure what to think of it Comment from : Melissa Jetzt Languages |
We could always encourage thrift stores to donate unsold items to shelters instead of disposing of them Thrift stores are a valuable resource for people who can't afford new item shopping hauls If I relied on "friends" handouts to clothe me, I'd be naked lol Comment from : Diana Queenofcats |

One thing that bothers me is when people poUr water from a plastic water bottle into a reusable one Also when people get a plastic straw and replace the already used straw with a metal one😑 Comment from : Mia F |

Goodwill, at least in my area, bundles up any clothing/textiles that cannot be sold and recycles it to be made into new clothing! So donating to Goodwill isn’t always a bad optiontalk to your local donation places 😊 Comment from : amylynnn18 |

This video was in my recommended I applaud your efforts and as a bonus will stop using so many paper towels, which would mean using more water to wash more cloth soooo not sure if it helps My question is based on the human aspect of this zero wastemovement? Every product follows a trail of jobs from conception to consumer, even those who work in bad conditions in factories, they work there because their poor and would go hungry without that terrible job The boss cant afford to provide better conditions, pay more and still compete with other countries shitty wages and shuts downThose labor intensive roses took several workers out of a job and the flowers die in the field The small fertilizer company that was happy that someone will buy their fertilizer shuts down The rose pressers are sent home without dinner and the truckers who transport for cheap in their old trucks can no longer save for new tires and better engines There is a chain reaction that goes on and on You have the luxury to do this by choice, for others, survivalDoes it matter? Comment from : spiritsjoy Joy |

My cousin is a part of one of those essential oil MLM schemes Instead of drinking orange juice or eating and orange she puts vitamin C essential oil in her coffee They're not even fit for consumption but she swears by them Comment from : Sunflower |

I can say I bought silicone bags at target and they were so unfunctional that I used them a handful of times One would no longer close and washing them was the worst Moral of the story they were a waste of money and material Comment from : BuggyReann |

My step-mom makes our own essential oils! We grow a herb garden next to our chicken coop and so far she's made lemon extract from our used up lemons for meals and mint extract from our garden! She uses them for cooking and making our own cleaning supplies as well, because she is a chemistry professor If you want/can put in the effort to make your own essential oils, it's really fun and honestly pretty easy when your just leaving it sitting around They smell a lot nicer and stronger and fresh, and it's way more sustainable and more multi-purpose Comment from : e |
I read essential oils and screamed edmffcmpçkd´qwso´k man this sh!t is sooooo toxic that could kill you and people drink it like it's water cuz someone said is 'natural and good', I mean you put your life in risk just because you didn't search!!! Comment from : maria luna |
I've been searching and searching for sustainable, toothpaste tabs or paste with flouride but with no palm oil or palm oil derivatives and no plastic packaging, I have not had any luck Do you have any ideas? Comment from : Jill |
I love Essential oils, don’t eat me wrong But I still feel like the 422 dislikes I see are mainly EO users Comment from : Kat Petersdorf |
Just found your channel and absolutely loving the information you are putting out there Thank you! Comment from : Cheyenne Gonzalez |

Growing herbs for their properties and using them in salves, oils, tinctures, etc can be a sustainable alternative for essential oils Comment from : Kai Richfield |
I love the 'natural is not always better'! I am a chemistry student and I have a STRONG opinion on essential oils, so I just thought I'd share:brEssential oils are also often used in 'natural' or 'bio' products as preservatives The problem with that is that br1) they are not as effective as synthetic preservatives, so they need to be used in higher concentration, which can lead to no 2br2) higher sensitivity due to the high concentration, which can lead to rashes and even allergiesbr3) they are not as stable chemicallybr4) they are not just ONE chemical - they are a big mix of all different kind of chemicals, so when you have an allergic reaction, you don't actually know what part you are allergic to (and there is also higher risk of said allergy, since it's such a big mix of compounds)brbrbrIf you read this to the end - have a lovely day and let me know what YOU think! Comment from : Jana Rosenkranzová |
The topic of zero waste is actually what got me into studying world history in depth, we don't know how most of our products our made nowdays or what's in them or what part of the earth those ingredients come from anymore, wheras before the industrial revolution a lot of people might not have known the exact chemical makeup, but they knew what rocks or plants to use to solve certain problems Our fine detail technical knowledge has increased while our knowledge of the bigger picture has almost disappeared Comment from : Nathan Bagley |
I think veganism is greenwashing as well😰 Comment from : susy |

Why buy a bamboo fork when you could just buy a metal fork, you can literally use the same fork for your entire life, and you can thrift cutlery super easily! Comment from : isabel |
honestly don't know why it makes me so happy -- but seeing a youtuber with plants that are yellowing/not 100 perfect brings me joy! I just started a youtube channel and I love my plants but like honestly not sure how others have perfect, non yellowing plants all the time with tons in the background! Comment from : Rooted in Books |
I am BEYOND happy you mentioned not donating clothes I worked at Goodwill for two years and eventually couldn't handle the wastefulness There was a day were our bins were full and instead of declining the donations they took them straight to our compacter without looking through it! I would shop there just to get clothes second-hand (and save them) but I definitely feel guilty for giving them my money Comment from : xTashleyx |
I have bought DoTerra brand oils many times (rather spendy) and I'm rather irritated at them because I often send them a query as to if they have a program for re-using their bottlesthey do not at this time They also ship things in plastic wrapped in bubble wrapwhy not paper containers? Comment from : Stephanie Quackenbush |
I just came across your channel and GUUURRLL!! Your hair is absolutely goaaalsss! So perfect! Comment from : Jess Bishop |
Hey greetings from germany! :) so cute how you pronounced stiftung warentest! ;) Comment from : Franziska Reinecke |
Essential oils imo are terrible not all synthetic fragrances are necessarily toxic, and essential oils can be so intense that theyre considered hazardous to the environment and need to be disposed of in a very specific manner Comment from : Lela Ramsey |
I wish this video contained more tips on "what to do" rather than just "what not to do" :( Comment from : Samantha Ridings |
I like your video Great Job Just want to share that Aloe Vera has been a medicinal plant for thousands of years I am from Ecuador, and Aloe Vera is culturally used as a morning drink, also combined with other plants, plus it is used directly on skin to help it regenerate from scars I would have 3 o more resources of science studies to compare Not saying to not trust your resource, though not all scientists may not be correct on every single study Science facts change over time Comment from : Yoshi Pantera |
Actually, Stiftung Warentest found out that Melamin releases Formaldehyde into your beverage when it´s hot Very good video, btw! Comment from : How it works for me |

Haha you gave me a chuckle with your pronunciation of Stiftungwahrentest 😅 Comment from : Tara |
In my opinion you can't tell people to stop doing what they're doing sometimes people buy certain things like coconut bowls for aesthetic :) and it's a life style Informing people about the health risks on certain items is important !!! Comment from : Lane Reyes |
You remind me of Dodi, and I am sorry if I am the millionth person to say that! Comment from : Sean Finbear |
What i also hate about essential oils and "natural" products is that people think they are balways/b more gentle than chemicals I have allergic skin reactions, and people always tell me it's because i use moisturizer "full of chemicals" and that i should use tea tree oil Tea tree oil irritates my skin SO MUCH Comment from : Isidora Espinoza |
Awesome video and so informative Just want to say- I freaked out when you said the thing about aloe, so I investigated the studies EWG referenced (Love skin deep too!) plus I did a google scholar review of literature lol All of the articles only mentioned carcinogenicity when consumed orally, as it acted as an irritant to the intestinal lining promoting inflammation and specifically caused colon cancer related to oral consumption (in rats, but nonetheless) Did not find one article saying there has been any cases of topical aloe carcinogenicity brbrBut honestly, correct me if I missed an article or if you have any references about topical aloe and cancer I’m never going to buy an aloe drink again because of this video lol but if there’s truly research on topical carcinogenicity I want to avoid that as well! Comment from : Christine Broadaway |

HypocritebrYour affiliate deal is literally reusable plastic cleaning bottles Every plastic cleaning bottle ever made is reusable Your affiliate is a greenwasher marketing a plastic bottle as eco? Hypocrite Comment from : ECO BIZNUS |

What was a bit of a humbling moment for me was realising that a more sustainable lifestyle isn’t quite as glamorous as having pretty wooden cutlery, everything made of bamboo, fancy coffee cups it’s more like using your old chipped bowl, keeping the non-matching cutlery because it still works, and cutting up old leggings for rags Comment from : FrootKat |
Thank you so much for the information and all of the research that you have done to educate those of use who are trying to go low waste to no waste Comment from : Lisa Storey |
My bamboo bowl broke after like a month (split in the side) It also picked up colour very easily, so it was stained after a few uses My ceramic bowls have lasted years Comment from : Grace in des Woods |

"I care about ethics and sustainability, let me hold up this essential oil brand owned by Nestle" bruhhhh Comment from : Joanna Williams |

I really like the Blueland concept but unfortunately it's only available in the US Does anyone know a similar service in Europe? Comment from : Katja ?? |
