Hey, great video and insightful 👍brI did Brighton this year, my first, had little expectation (1:42 half to base my time goal) as I had runners knee about 6 weeks out and took a month before it eased, cracked 4 hours , 3:55, so was pleased, keen to do another but any advice please on goal setting re time? I think more structure and a plan (sage is great but I wanted to do one first before considering him, probably fair for a beginner right?) and staying fit will enable a PB, but any help appreciated, realistic time to take off PB? Also I want to up my mileage like you advised, probably hit 35-40 at peak, so would like to get up to like 45-50 maybe?brKeep up the good work 👏 Comment from : Jack Rathborn |

Hi Alex - great video - can I ask you a question that I have never found an answer to in all the running books out there (I'm also trying to crack sub3 - my PB is 3:10) How do you speed up when you have a goal target pace Do you just start your threshold workouts etc at that pace and expect your body to adapt or do you just keep working at your current level and let your body improve over time Why I believe this is an important question is you can end training a lot above your current lactate threshold which might be tolerable in training but when the race comes you die after approx 60mins of hanging on I believe you might be facing this challenge in pushing yourself to reach the masters qualifier? Hi, thank you for the video, i have maybe for the first part your story a lot of years of run inconsistency (cause injuries too) now i work a lot on technique and strenght, i'm feel ready to become better I'm increasing my mileage (40/50 weekly) last months and i want to increase in years, my attempts will be in the future not now, what's your p best in 10 km?? Mate, delighted to say I ran 2:58:21 at the Canberra marathon over the weekend Absolutely stokedbrI agree with your views - increased mileage, a structured program with proper tempo and pace workouts, and the discipline to stick to it brI was at between 110k - 130k per week (whatever that is in miles) over 16 weeksbrIt worked!
