"I like to turn it off when advancing the stock"would be really hard getting the chuck key in there with it runningI think advancing the stock without turning it off only works with a collet

I found this a fascinating video with a great deal of information for keeping, as with all your posts However, as for turret lathes, I still have memories of colleagues in the UK during the sixties working turret lathes on piece work Thier efforts for trying to earn more often ending with missing limbs and worse still, due to tiredness Apologies mrpete for the gloom You can scold me if you want LOLbrJohn

Hi Mr Pete Excellent video as always A quick question if I maybrTowards the end of this video (174), you mentioned converting the 'turret lathe' back into an 'engine lathe' Keith Fenner made mention of his understanding of an engine lathe in one of his recent videos, and having heard this term myself, I became curious and 'googled' for a definition Unfortunately there were a number of suggestions, but none of them seemed conclusive to me So, I was wondering what YOUR understanding of an engine lathe isbrRegards Mark in the UKbrps occasionally you apologise for 'ranting' about a particular thing Usually how much something used to cost, how cheap imports have affected things, the US economy or any number of other things Just to say, I personally find these rants valuable, pertinent and humorous, so please DON'T stop ranting
