I'm trying to find exact amount of state fees I'm suppose to pay for a brand new car In NJ, the title fee is $6o (or $85 for 1 lien, $110 for 2 liens) Registration fees depends on how old the car is and how heavy it is For a new SUV that weighs over 3500 lbs, its $84 (small cars like Honda Civic that weighs less 3500 lbs is $59) Also if you are 65 years or older OR if you are disabled, NJ gives $7 discount on the registration fee NJ also charges $150 per tire fee (don't forget to include the spare tire if your car has one) But here's the thing I can't figure out All new car purchases in NJ get a 4 year registration card The fees I listed before are for 1 year registration I try to search how much is a 4 year registration and I can't find an answer NJ MVC website has a 4 year calculator, but the amount shown is only an estimate (which shows $311 for a new vehicle weighing over 3500 lbs) So when I get quotes from multiple dealers, the NJ fees are inconsistent among dealers They are all between $30850 to $330 Even though its not a big range, I refuse to pay 1 cent more to a dealership that is already ripping people off Comment from : JerseyIdiotDrivers |

This has nothing to do with markups, but I recently emailed a dealership asking for an OUT THE DOOR price I was told they need "real information" , my name and address for tax purposes I have never heard of such a thing Is this true??? Thank you both, I went to a Mazda dealer in Garden City NY yesterday, and with the knowledge you're giving me I was able to negotiate in confidence and walk away They were trying to charge 2 separate prices, one for cash and one for finance, they had an over 5k market adjustment on the cash and 2k on the finance, even the manager came out to try and scam me It got tense but i told them that they are being deceptive and shady, their attempt at a market adjustment is disrespectful to us both They even refused to give me an itemized offer At the end I got up to walk away and they stopped me to continue to discuss and to call them if I change my mind, I said "no, you call me when you want to sell a car and negotiate in good faith" Comment from : limitbreak84 |
