I never want a Gun to be come the Norm in Britain If they ever do it means society is failing
Comment from : Max Moore

Gary Ozbourne
Hi mate 👍 hope you are ok to many brInacent people get hurt with guns on both sides of the streetI have noticed in the brUs policeman with a gun to much power brGood no guns
Comment from : Gary Ozbourne

Tom Hazzard
You also got to remember "assault" in the UK can be any physical interaction that isn't reciprocated Like a pat on the back can be assault "you slapped him" etc So it's massively inflated
Comment from : Tom Hazzard

vobchopper
What you do need to remember is in the UK practically NO ONE owns a gun, certainly not a pistol, but in America EVERYONE owns a gun whether this is right or wrong I think it's too late to fix, the Genie is already out of the bottle, and the assumption that the British police don't have gun's is wrong, there are police TAU units on constant standby, try ringing 999 and see How quickly they appear
Comment from : vobchopper

Fiona Gregory
Britain is best I live there Would never go to USA and get shot

Mr Giant: b"Who are you going to kill, but YOUR OWN PEOPLE?"/bbrTrue 'dat!brPeople are being taught to fight; and to distrust; and to abuse; and to hate each other!brbSTOP IT!/bbr"Who are you going to kill, but YOUR OWN PEOPLE?"
Comment from : Andy

janice polley
I believe American police need to carry guns, because the American civilian is allowed to carry weapons brIn the UK there is quite a lot of knife crime, but our police do carry tasers At times Times have changed, when I was a little kid, it was normal to hang about in our garden till 10 o clock when on school breaks, but now they are expected to be home by 700 I am a pensioner, though
Comment from : janice polley

Marcus Knight
You are a great human being
Comment from : Marcus Knight

stefan surowinski
2,000,000 illegal guns in the UK is rubbish It would mean every 27th adult man or woman would have one, which anyone living in the UK knows is not true Tabloid sensationalism
Comment from : stefan surowinski

Jose Ruiz
Just b/c u have a bad day does not give u the right to assault another person w/ a bottle or knife If u do that to someone, u get what u deserve in return Idc if u have a bad day Keep that behavior in check! A bad day is no excuse for bad behavior Go home and do something relaxing instead of going out there raising hell
Comment from : Jose Ruiz

Jose Ruiz
Well, u can choose to retreat but if ur state has a castle law, u don't have to choose to retreat What if u are in an apartment? What if u got kids inside as well as a relative that's terminally ill? Can't just leave them behind! Now u have no choice but to stand ur ground and shoot in self-defense
Comment from : Jose Ruiz

Jose Ruiz
Legally in the US, u cannot shoot to wound U have to shoot to stop And shooting in the leg or arm is considered shooting to wound and it's no longer considered self-defense in a legal sense If u have to shoot in self-defense, u have to shoot multiple shots at the chest until the attacker is no longer a threat And if that's not enough, a shot to the head Only time u can shoot the head or limbs first is if those are the only parts that the suspect exposes while behind cover or a human shield/ hostage
Comment from : Jose Ruiz

Jose Ruiz
Well, half of the homicides committed by LE officers or legally armed civilians are also done out of self-defense So don't be too alarmed by it Look at it this way We don't have to worry much about knife attacks as u guys do in the UK Here in the US, criminals afraid to get shot, which is why it's not as common as in the UK And, we can carry knives too While the Brits regard knives as weapons, we regard them more as tools
Comment from : Jose Ruiz

Jose Ruiz
Well, if a person, even a fellow American, attacks me and puts my life in danger, I will shoot and if necessary, kill, in self-defense It's about preservation of one's life against a criminal or terrorist attack
Comment from : Jose Ruiz

Jose Ruiz
I don't see anything wrong a/ a private citizen legally owning guns as long as they are not using it in a reckless manner I also legally firearms but always do so responsibly I even once used it to save my life against an attack Plus, it's a privilege given to American citizens under its second amendment of the US constitution Like it or not, that's the way it is Again, we have a gun culture here and it's also gun country We are also the best marksmen in the world and we dominate shooting competitions such as Cowboy Action Shooting, IPSC, and IDPA We wrote the book on modern gunfighting, along with the Israelis
Comment from : Jose Ruiz

Jose Ruiz
The bullshit war on drugs by both Presidents Nixon and Reagan also enhanced the militarization of American cops
Comment from : Jose Ruiz

Jose Ruiz
Our American cops also have a battlefield mentality Sadly, after 9/11, the US has also become a dystopian police state w/ police forces resembling an army
Comment from : Jose Ruiz

Jose Ruiz
Our cops look very paramilitary while British cops look more like uniformed bus drivers The reason why American cops are also armed w/ guns is that they also have to deal with criminals that are armed w/ guns Britich cops, on the other hand rarely deal with gun-toting criminals which is why they don't carry guns, w/ the exception of special response units Totally different cultures when it comes to the gun issue
Comment from : Jose Ruiz

Robb Patterson
Fair play; you are talking the truth through that Great mentality and perfect message to send people
Comment from : Robb Patterson

David Smith
I worked as a Police Officer in the UK for just over 30 years and NEVER carried a gun - nor did I feel that I ever needed one
Comment from : David Smith

Jim Messenger
'Help people?' oh mate after whats happened over here in Plymouth (UK) recently with the nutter who had a gun licence I'm totally with you Firearms are best off in the incinerator no one needs them just wish we could get rid of them
Comment from : Jim Messenger

David Gray
I don’t want to cause offence but Americans think they know about firearms but actually they don’t, been there , seen it, they don’t know how to handle and store weapons safely and get their gun knowledge and “culture” is from tv shows and John Wayne films It’s like a Child with sharp scissors, all Americans should have those old fashioned blunt scissors and that way they won’t hurt themselves Don’t phone an American when he’s ironing his shirt , he burn his ear badly All the best from the UK
Comment from : David Gray

David Gray
Why were you wearing a dress when you were walking your doggies?

KrakEN DragonSlayer
1 policeman for 400 people in UK?!?!?!brbrUnder Stalin's regime there was 1 policeman for each 2000 people, and we called it "police state", lol
Comment from : KrakEN DragonSlayer

Garry Ellison
The British police will count an assault as spitting in their direction, really that's considered an assault on a police officer
Comment from : Garry Ellison

Dirk Diggler
Alot of constable's in the UK do carry a fire arm of some sort especially in London! And even less no the law they've gone from protecting the public to protecting Corporations and criminal politicians! And they love assaulting the public! Never trust government statistics There's loads of guns in the UK only it's the criminals that own them the rest of have to just defend ourselves with nothing The worst thing we did was to have the right to bare arms removed!
Comment from : Dirk Diggler

SirbrI addition to my last comment( Yeah but i am very interested in your channel, so may be i am talking you to death) i think there is a big difference to USA Why? The majority of the germans trust our police, yeah Why? Whatever happens we the german citizens know that we have professionals as police force Now nobody can and will deny that our BULLEN ( We dont call them Cops but BULLS, which you should never do to a police officer, some take it as an offence and you dont wanna piss of a BULL)brYes we do trust our POLIZEI and they trust in us, because they are here for us, the german citizens Please see some clips here in You Tube about german police Thank you very much to be so interested you GIANT 😁
Comment from : helfgott david

SirbrIn germany brPolice training lasts from 2 to a maximum of 25 years If you take up a degree in order to be able to become a police officer, the training period is usually 3 years So what do you think about having professionals as police officers? According to my reseach police training lasted 15 to 16 weeks on average in the USA Police students primarily learn the use of firearms and some local and federal law In addition, there are a few hours in various social sciences May be this is interesting for you, greets from bavaria 😉

Cindy Chin
America is a gun culture the British police are armed there is a armed response car always on call two cops entered my home last year I think they were armed with mp5s and side arms in the prime ministership of David Cameron he said there were 200,000 illeagal firearms so that number is now even higher many people think that all police should be armed many now are
Comment from : Cindy Chin

Corsin
I think the issue in the US is that every instance/encounter is immediately at level 10 with weapons involved Cant really take weapons off the cops there now because everyone owns a gun and they aint gonna be able to prevent anything
Comment from : Corsin

Cameron
In the UK you now need a ba degree or equivalent to join the police however that's a fairly new change in policies
Comment from : Cameron

David Thomas
A police officer friend of mine in Liverpool said id rather be punched than have to shoot someone
Comment from : David Thomas

Mr MiD
The UK police get assaulted When they make an arrest, if you even lean away from them it can count as an assault! We aren't all going round hitting COPPERS NOT BOBBIES
Comment from : Mr MiD

Mr MiD
This aint the 60s We don't call them bobbiesbrbrEdit - i dont mean to sound annoyed I've never heard anyone call police, bobbies, except old comedy shows I'm in my 30s and have lived in England most of my life
Comment from : Mr MiD

Brian Todd
One thing that I have noticed regarding the number of assaults against police in the UK is that they can be counted on if you are confronted by someone who is overly aggressive , in that once the police get there , your assailant will almost certainly turn on them We seem to have way too many people who consider that the police get in the way of THEIR authority brWe REALLY believe in personal equality over here On the whole anyway
Comment from : Brian Todd

Johnny Peacock
I think that Mr Giant is from the Spice Island Grenada brYou are absolutely correct, the Cops here in the UK don't carry Guns but they can call for Firearms Cops who are usually not far away
Comment from : Johnny Peacock

Fox_Dren
"surprised they don't have grenades and things" don't give them ideas

R Smith
I live in Southern England, just round the corner from a Clay Pidgeon Shooting Range I often wake up on a Sunday to the sound of gunfire, however, I have never seen a member of the public with a gun in person The only time I've ever seen a gun in person was after a terrorist attack in London After that a policemen with rifles would pull up outside the South Entrance to the Cathedral randomly just to stand there and send the message not to try anything This was only during peak tourism in the summer when terrorist attacks on places of culture are most likely They never did anything other than stand around, but that's kind of the point in being a deterrent
Comment from : R Smith

Nero
The Police in the Uk seem more professional in there approach to people and willingness to help people

Scotland was the first country to form a modern police force, not England, Scotland did it 27 years before Peele's Met police

Chris Cambridge
New subscriber loving the British videos Your absolutely right, in many cases you can subdue the criminal using non-lethal force, you dont have to shoot people
Comment from : Chris Cambridge

lefizz55
Some very sound stuff in this video Between taking someone's life and letting them have some of my possessions they could take my TV, PC etc I don't want taking someone's life haunting me for years to come It's just such an childish mentally to me People have been brainwashed by cinema and TV to think it's something heroic and macho, it really isn't, and I'm not remotely religious
Comment from : lefizz55

Margaret Nicol
Quite right Too many people have called the cops for help and they're the ones who end up being shot/killed
Comment from : Margaret Nicol

Ami Hoss
Much love from JA to my Grenadian bro
Comment from : Ami Hoss

Margaret Nicol
The sad thing is that they have guns because they don't feel safe! Cops are trained to believe that everyone is out to get them so they are scared when they're out in the streets That's the cause of so many deaths It's fear not courage!
Comment from : Margaret Nicol

Tachyon TinMan

An interesting fact about Henry Fielding (22 April 1707 – 8 October 1754) is that he was an English novelist and dramatist known for his earthy humour and satire His comic novel Tom Jones is still widely appreciated He and Samuel Richardson are seen as founders of the traditional English novelbrLove your outlook on the videos

Lot of bits on here saying rascim isn't a bigger problem here than the us Cambridge has just come under fire for mostly accepting white students It's systematic in the uk and we're just a lot better at hiding it Racism exists as a tool by the powerful to control the many

ᚹᚣᚷ • ᛒᚱᛁᛏᚣᚻᚻᛁᛈᚣ
Na na na na, our cops don't have guns because they spend the majority of their time prosecuting people over tweets and dog videos Not drug trafficking and murder They don't need gunsbrbrPS When you say, "shoot them in the leg", I really struggle to believe you shot a gun Especially not at someone's legs when they're running at you

Colin Greig
From Scotland and moved to America a few years ago so I understand the culture shock with the amount of guns you see on those police belts The one that got me was on our local neighborhood social media page the amount of my neighbors who said "locked and loaded" in response to any threat, no matter how minor I moved out of that neighborhood to one with much friendlier people but a higher crime rate and I'm so much happier
Comment from : Colin Greig

Oddballkane
Sometimes I do feel sorry for the police I was listening to the radio last year at Christmas An advert to not drink and drive came on it was from the police view He said the petson who died was not drubk a drunk driver had hit himbrThe police officer could see through the window the kids in the pajamas and watching a Christmas movie before bed The Christmas tree was up with a few presents around under it He knew as soon as he knocked on the door he would shatter the world

Generally in favour of an unarmed police force - but it can be very, very hard on first responders, or regular officers walking into something nasty The murder of Nicola Hughes and Fiona Bone in 2012 was particularly horrifying They responded to a burglary report - call made by one Dale Cregan, who opened up them with 32 rounds from a Glock and an M79 hand grenade One woman died at the scene, and the other later in hospital Violence, against police, is a growing problem and unarmed officers do make very easy targets

Ilona
I'm Latvian and live in UK I would be scared to leave my home if I was in USA Not just easy access to guns in walmarts, but police walking around with guns, shooting before asking questions I'm white and I'd be terrified so I can't imagine how horrible it is for black people, that are attacked by police so often, to go about their life with armed police around I think it takes a certain mentality to be willing to kill a person for any reason Like you say, to think I'd shoot someone dead for trying to steal my TV? Like, I'd be terrified they'd kill me, but I wouldn't be able to live with myself even if I took a life by complete accident, let alone aiming a gun at another person It's just absolutely insane to me I also don't support death penalties, which many in USA are in favour of It's another thing that baffles me I wonder what it is that makes people be ok with these things happening around them Is it just growing up with that around them? Idk It's weird

Police officers are someone I was taught to go to for help Unfortunately when I was about 9/10 I was party to an incident with what I now know was a racist police man To me he was not being nice and I could not understand It was to my brother's friend who we knew well This man was black, to me he was my brother's friend, he was Freddy My sister went mad and reported this police officer
Comment from : Joanne Walton

HorsService
Strange to hear the US Police gets payed "so well", from what I heard cops in the US have several jobs in order to make a living Maybe they compared different "Statuses" (officer, ceiminal dept etc )

I'm from the UK and now live in America and work as a gas station cashier and even though I've been here 4 years, it still weirds me out when customers carry guns I worked in a truck stop with an attached McDonald's who closed their doors to customers indoors due to refurbishment, the drive through was still open but because the truckers couldn't fit their trucks through the drive through , the truckers went mental One man even climbed into a woman's car in the drive through to get his Big Mac, so she pulled out a pistol and told him very firmly to get out of her car Only in America right? Lol

Assault in the UK includes verbal assault 90 of the stats are verbal
Comment from : Tracy Harrington

Darrell Powell
Being black and British I don't get stopped, searched or have my car pulled over for minor offences brWhen I do, am I fearful I'll be beaten, humiliated or shot at? Never brWould I go to the US and expect to be treated worse? YesbrBritish police are more chilled out and more so very good with people brCan I say that for every black person in the UK? No I can't BUT I'll say that the police are better than US police and other places on EarthbrGuns in the UK are NOT used on people as much as the US does Over several years the UK has a low gun vs gun crimes than the US, thus making the UK safer to walk the streets brbrMost UK fights are fist fights, never gun fights, unless its a criminal gang shooting up other gangs, and guns are not carried by people here, its usually a gun in the home that illegal or a weapon that is legal and used illegallybrThe UK has its problems, BUT its safer than the US and our justice system is first class, with less prisoners than the US and prison is a last resort in the UK brOther than that its best you move to the UK and have benefits that the US will take another 100 years to get around to doing, like healthcare for all and safe gun laws and better police practices
Comment from : Darrell Powell

Ander Evermore
In the UK shouting at a cop is classed as assault as well So the assault statistics are likely not accurate if you include verbal assault in the stats
Comment from : Ander Evermore

Hannah
I live in the US and can’t imagine unarmed police They are not the school crossing guards, they are to “protect and serve” If they can’t protect themselves from dangerous people how will they help protect us? This also makes me very very grateful for the second amendment! A basic human right of self protectionbrWe don’t have many guards ( not any) being publicly be headed while people just watch I still can’t believe that happened in England My husband is from England btw
Comment from : Hannah

Colin Hodson
US & UK society, culture & history are very different Respective populations are 330m ppl versus 67m There are only a fraction of the amount of firearms here than there are in the US & essentially no gun culture In general, hand guns & rifles cannot be legally held in private homes or carried in public British & Scottish Police forces are not routinely armed, but there are Armed Response Vehicles patrolling 24/7 & Firearms Units in the bigger cities
Comment from : Colin Hodson

Pokey Swan
Disappointingly they are armed more and more This includes looking like militia If they have their trousers tucked in their boots they're normally trying to emulate American police
Comment from : Pokey Swan

Bring on 2021
I’m a Brit that’s visited America twice when I was a kid/teen- I have to say even if tourist land it felt like a police state The Americans went about their daily business because it was normal to them but the amount of guns (both on the authorities and on citizens) made me feel so unsafe Just takes one person to be a bit jumpy or to have a bad day and we could all be dead within seconds
Comment from : Bring on 2021
