In 3 months I was able to go from 213 lbs to 195 lbs, while also going from 195 body fat to 97 Decreased fat weight by 23 lbs and increased muscle mass by over 6 lbs (All verified by DEXA scans)brbrThat was after an initial 9 months of lifting and working out while in a deficit Going from 380 lbs to that 213 lbs brbrSo I had both beginner and overweight going for me initially, but that last 3 months was all hard work and very specific kinda shitty macros to force my metabolism to mainly burn fat lol Comment from : Terrence Lewis |
So bulk-cut is the only way to ultimately gain muscles and lose fat ? Comment from : Sketos |
How long do I need to be training for to be considered not a beginner anymore? Comment from : Isaac |
Most people overcomplicate weight loss and muscle gain and think they can take shortcuts to do it The reality is very simple but unglamorous to many since it requires some effort they wouldn’t normally exert in their daily lives Comment from : Graceful Eloquence |
And all this happens in 2 seconds max… Comment from : GreenNastyRabbit |

So with this said can I go into a more extreme calorie deficit as long as my protein needs are being met example if I’m supposed to consume 2300 for maintenance can I drop 1000-1300 for faster results? Comment from : Brady F |
Could've sworn I just saw Donald Trump lose an exponential amount of weight on a treadmill Comment from : Fuck You Google Plus |
Im not exactly in any of those catergories and my goal is to lose some fat in the mid section amd increase muscle mass all over 2 months and Ive lost 25cm around the stomach and gained 1cm biceps and 15cm chest Im eating at 200kcals above maintainance level at a 30/40/30 split Resistance training 3x and hiit 3x a week Its possible to recomp but i found it takes alot longer than bulk/cut which i dont mind Im 38 and pretty close to the best shape ive ever been in Comment from : nouseforaname |
Nice to know!! As I am a beginner! I don’t have much fat to lose but alittle can go a long way to show a nice 6 pack aside from only when I flex them I just want them- there Comment from : Ro Co |
Recomp is the result of training underused muscle groups while at the same time keeping size of the training done by lugging around the higher body weightbrbrA 200 lbs person even if overweight still trained their legs to carry 200lbs to a certain extent, so if you now loose fat by running a calorie deficit your gains which you never knew you had actually get to show themselves Comment from : heylo lp |
Hi! Great videos The histology slide you showed that popped up when you said ''build new muscle' appears to be stratified squamous epithelium Skeletal muscle has striations and is multinucleated Thanks! Comment from : shesaidsomething1 |
Excuse me that histology slide isn't muscle 😢 Comment from : HakushiBestShaman |
it takes a long time, pay close attention to diet and walk a lot, that is what i learned by experience Comment from : Jungle King |
The last part hit a little close to home I was barely hitting maintenance and for the longest time my physique looked the same I’ve finally upped my calorie intake and training stimulus aka a real bulk and finally I’m getting places Guys like Sean said, don’t obsess over recomp or you’ll chase your tail! Comment from : Cartilo2 |
On keto, yes The body uses body fat as fuel/energy and protein/rest builds lean muscle brbrIf you want carbs, eat them after your workouts, your insulin is higher at at time anyway Comment from : PP |
So you can be lean like 10-15 body fat but also build muscle in the process?? Comment from : Paprika |
Maintaining has been done before When I started working out I weighed exactly the same as I do now 6 months later Just more weight was muscle instead A lot of this was beginner gains but I see no reason to stop now Comment from : Jeremy Theimer |
Lmao I fit into all 3 of those categories I've been eating 1800 calories as 6'2" man and after 6 weeks have "lost" 1 lbs Yet my lift weighs have gone up significantly So I guess I'm in recomp? Comment from : Katana622 |
The other case for when it's possible is if you're a boy between ages 14 and 18, in which case you can build however tf you want because your body is super anabolic in that puberty time frame Comment from : Samuel Katz |
Weight lifting is one of the BEST ways to improve your health if you're significantly overweight I've lost 30 pounds since May and have gained sugnificant muscle mass While I'm in a calorie deficit, my muscles don't know it since I'm insultated in a calorie surplus, lol I focus mainly on meeting protein needs, eating clean with meat, fruits, and veggies, and getting in my 6 day push/pull/legs schedule And I'm 46 with HBP/diabetes/degenerative arthiritis All of this improved within a month if making the changebrbrThanks for the content This is one of my favorites for quality workout tips Comment from : Kurt Miller |
Thank you for the easy breakdown Too much incorrect information out there! Comment from : Steph Willis |

Hi Sean! I’d love to see a video on what constitutes a beginner There’s lot of videos on “This will work best if you’re a beginner,” “If you’re a beginner do this etc” But am I still a beginner after one year? Two years? When is one no longer a beginnerbrbrThank you kindly Comment from : Phillip Campbell III |
Recomposition is possible all the time for all lifters brbrI put on muscle while burning fat, I am living proof that it is possible Just do not eat carbs, except fiberous and sugar alcohol carbs You do not need carbs to put on muscle, if you don't feed your body carbs it will drink your body fat for energy Comment from : 山𝔞†𝔠𝔥𝔪𝔞ղχ |

I guess I have to say everyone’s bodies work differently I stay shredded all year long while consistently building new muscle tissues I’m not huge by any means and I don’t aim towards to mass packing approach, i guess u can say I take more of a slower more stable lean muscle building approach while minimizing the fat gain By all means great video! 💪🏽 Comment from : Ares Wayne |

Realistically, no Even geared up, pro bodybuilders have trouble gaining muscle while going down in weight That's not to say that you can't gain muscle and lose fat simultaneously It's just that it's almost impossible while on a caloric deficit Comment from : Ricksonkimura |

If you want an amazing example of the power of a recomp, lookup Natural Hypertrophy He was able to maintain his bodyweight at 210lbs and was able to turn all the fat into muscle without losing weight at all If you want to recomp properly it will take a LONG time to do so , just be patient and you will be able to reap the benefits Comment from : Weston Croye |
As someone who's always trying to recomp, it's not truly possible It's probably better to just hit a true bulk/cut cycle I know it's hard to embrace though Comment from : Simon |
Yes you can 8 months in now and my love handles and belly are now a 4/6 pack and muscles larger I haven't been on a crazy diet just cut out the junk and stayed hydrated aswel as working out every 2 days Comment from : Bradius |

Yeah so a calorie deficit isn’t required If you eat around maintenance or even slightly higher, your body over time will learn to dip into its fat and to use the protein and calories you consume to repair and grow your muscles This is because your body will always prioritise muscle repair over fat loss Comment from : tommy white |
Definitely possible Keto and fasting combined replaced fat with muscle, all my friends and family noticed Legit true thanks Sean Comment from : Pasha Mitesh |

Love the common sense content The human body is built for adaptation When it’s in need of adaptation, change happens quickly As the NEED for adaptation diminishes, the changes come more slowly and are harder to earn A healthy physique isn’t terribly hard to gain; an elite physique takes years of dedication Comment from : Mike Barsema |
I've lost over 19kg myself in 10 months brWorkout hard, eat less - Thats what i did I'm also gaining muscle which I'm quite happy about Comment from : LaSeRsNoW |
So what if you're over a year into training and bulking and you've already gained a good amount of muscle along with fat, can you still go on a body recomp? My bulk has been a success but I've also packed a lot more fat and Im looking forward to getting rid of the loose ends so Im wondering if its easier to do a recomp or do I just go on a cut? Comment from : JJSJr S |
Carnivore diet Comment from : Bart Willoughby |

Rememberits a process Lose the fat while eating nourishing foods and staying in caloric deficitmaintain your strengthwhen the desired fat is lost, increase calories and lift heavier for fewer reps Don't cheat yourself That muscle gain will increase your bmr, so when you decide to go into a caloric deficit again to burn the fat you may have gained while building muscle, you will be able to eat more this second time around and still burn fat at the same rate as before Comment from : Johnny |
Might be a stupid question but can you just run it walk to lose weight or become more heart healthy at least I enjoy running I kind of like the feel of my heart beating that fast makes me feel some sort of way but lifting weights is something that I really don’t enjoy I’m overweight wanna try and lose some fat even if it’s just a bit Comment from : John W |
Its possible but it's pretty hard as, you need a caloric surplus to gain muscle and a caloric deficit to lose fat, most people will gain muscle and fat at the same time or lose muscle and fat also at the same time Comment from : Alpha Yungwes |
